  1. No trolling. Just playing the sane person in a behavioral health unit.
  2. Dude, they can foot the bill. And, they say they are willing to go up to an even into luxury cap range to win big. Will believe it when I see it. I'm not "changing up my argument." If I wasn't clear before, let me be now. We can afford to keep Teague and Dennis--but it would preclude us from being able to add necessary supporting cast to win. Plus, it creates disharmony (already has.) Plus, you seem to neglect the fact Dennis is gonna get a big pay raise soon. You all can go on name-calling or whatever, but Teague will not be a Hawk long term. There is a chance he sticks around next season, but that would be the last possible year he's here. I still say 3-1 odds he's on our opening day roster next year.
  3. Money better spent on a marquee SF and sticking with Dennis at PG (who will see a significant pay increase after next season._ Sorry, while the dual PG thing has had it's moments, it's not a long-term strategy. Bud knows this. Have you all forgotten the trade deadline? REALLY?!?! Teague will be outta here as fast as they can find a deal they find a suitable deal. And, it won't be for a "top 5 pick" as some delusional poster said earlier.
  4. Sorry, should have had "good sense" to use italics. Sorry. I didn't ever (see: italics!!!) say to trade Teague for cap space. However, if adding an asset like a first round pick and extra space that allowed us to sign a marquee FA SF came from deal, yes, that would be a good thing. People seem "condescending" when they are speaking on a higher level than the reader is thinking. Calling me an a-hole and moron is indicative of ad hominem attack--a tactic frequently used when you cannot win the argument . Hugs, bumpy That's cool. He's still an average player at best. You want us to bring him back to ATL? We need a small forward after all. Yeah, thought so. He's averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 boards in 30 minutes per game. Which of our players who averages 30 mins a game is less productive?
  5. That's fine. Everyone can express their opinion. And, I'm going to point out the ones that aren't grounded in reality. Yeah, we can afford both. And, then either not be able to afford to sign anyone else or have a payroll that extends into range MGMT will not pay. So, no, we will not keep both. Yeah, in theory they could. In reality, someone signs the checks and isn't gonna pay for us to "max out" 4 players. Didn't ever say Durant was realistic. That's why I mentioned Batum. I do think it's realistic that if we make the ECF again and challenge Cleveland that Durant could give us a look. Hawks would be viewed as second best franchise in the East--much easier road to finals for FA's looking to win rings. Addressed before. Could doesn't mean mgmt would foot the bill. Can't afford both and also pay a legit supporting cast. I guess people here just love Teague. Sorry fanners, he won't be a Hawk for much longer. Enjoy this playoff run. Yeah, he's underpaid for ONE MORE SEASON. Which is why he actually may have trade value. We aren't keeping both him and Dennis long term, folks. Trade Teague in the offseason and get something for him while you still can and give the reigns to Dennis. He's as good or better now--and with starter role and experience, will be more consistent and improve faster. You lost me at Marvin is playing the best ball of their career. Again, they don't have a single All-Star on their team. Kemba is their best player. We have 'Sap, 'Horf, and emerging young star in Dennis, and Bud. If Batum likes Clifford, then maybe he stays there. But the better chance to win is in ATL. Oh, and "Big Al" off the bench is a FA this offseason and won't be returning to Charlotte.
  6. Sorry, I don't mince words when it comes to senseless comments. If the Hawks manage to go to back to back ECF's, Charlotte > ATL for Batum? I think not. Their roster isn't close and while Clifford is good, he's not Bud. Batum can sign up to play in a system he's made for, play with 'Horf, 'Sap, (and Dennis--yes, he will be that good very soon)...or what....play with a young team whose best player is who....Kemba Walker? Jeremy Lin (of late)? Sorry, one of these teams is a piece away from challenging Cleveland for the EC. It's not the Hornets, btw. If pay is equal and he he gives a f about winning, he'd pick ATL in a heartbeat. Lala land. Can't afford both. Closest scenario is keeping Teague one more year--I'd lay 3-1 odds he isn't back next year though.
  7. Right, and that would be a brilliant deal considering Dennis is already to the point where he is at Teague's level or damn close. 4.5 years younger with both seeking contracts in the same offseason. Bud is smart. He will pick Dennis. Why do you think they shopped Teague so hard at the deadline? Smoke and mirrors?
  8. Sorry but this is another post that is....well, a waste of space. Schröder is the PG long term. We cannot keep both. Trade Teague this offseason or he walks after the next likely after a season of disharmony knowing what's coming. You trade Teague now because Schröder is ready now/there will be no dropoff, we could spend that money better elsewhere, and you might as well get something for Teague while you can. If you think you're getting a top 10 pick for an expiring Teague, you belong on the kiddie site.
  9. Agreed SF is biggest need. Hence a run at Durant or Batum. Agree with a lot. But, you are insane if you think we are going to be able to "trade Scott" or "Trade Jeff (only for an awesome offer)." Scott gets waived or picked up, likely the former. Curious what an "awesome offer" is, but for a guy with one year left on his contract, unless he is willing to commit to re-sign with the new team, Teague can be had for less than "an awesome offer." He will be traded unless we literally get offered jackspit for him. I'd deal him for a top 20 first round pick either this year or even next, I think, at this point. Hawks made a calculated move to take less for him for the benefit of having him the rest of the year (at the deadline.) Don't know what his market value will be--maybe can work something out with his hometown Pacers. Everyone else failed this exercise....reasonable ideas? Anyone?
  10. Anyone insightful care to weigh in? Sorry....underwhelmed by responses so far. Only Sothron's idea is reasonable but he didn't offer much.
  11. Gotta think Mike, Kris, and Kurt are all gone for sure. Maybe we pay Baze--doubtful though, imo. Mike Scott is under contract for best season--$3.3M (non-guaranteed). We either pick it to keep him or waive him go get locked up.... Muscala is under contract for next season. $1.05M team-option.
  12. Wouldn't let me submit edit, Here it is: Gotta think back to back ECF Finals and BUD would make ATL start to look like a nice destination for FA's. That said, what do you guys think we will do in the off-season? Horf and Baze are FA's. 1st round pick and two 2nd's. Not gonna project the second rounders but...here's what I want to see. 1) Trade Teague on draft night--gain cap space, move on to Dennis who is as good now or will be next season. 2) Draft best available SG or SF--to develop--not to start right away. Tim can replace Korver. Will need a backup/co #1 at SG with Hardaway though in '17-'18. 3) Let Bazemore walk--will not be worth what it takes to re-sign him. 4) Sign a starting SF via FA. Is it feasible by trading Teague and using whatever exception it is that applies to Splitter we could afford Durant? Would we have that cap space? If not Durant, look at Batum. 5) Sign cheap, veteran backup PG. 6) Find a cheap veteran big to bolster frontcourt ala Humphries 7) Re-sign Al. Go over cap if we have to. Best case: PG: Schröder, veteran PG SG: Korver, Hardaway, (1st round pick) SF: Durant (Batum?), Thabo, (1st round pick) PF: Millsap, Muscala C: Horford, Tavares, (?)Splitter, (?)FA big ...y'all ream me on salary cap implications, but I feel like this is doable without really crunching the numbers. Cap goes up and you can go over cap to re-sign (Al), right?
  13. So, I keep telling myself if we can somehow grab this 3 seed (or I guess slip to 6), we will again reach the ECF. Just need to avoid the Cavs until the ECF--4 or 5 seed gets dicey. Loss last night hurt--Miami with a much easier schedule in than us and lead by one in loss column and hold tie breaker. Gotta think back to back ECF Finals and BUD would make ATL start to look like a nice FA destination. That said, what do you guys think we will do in the offseason? 14. Cleveland will hold the 1. We need to either be 3 or 6.
  15. We're better than the Heat but they have an easier schedule and could hold us off for the 3 seed.
  16. Love what we're seeing from Tim lately. I never lost faith either. I tempered expectations maybe but I knew he would not be a wasted trade of the #19 pick
  17. Heat took down the Cavs tonight. FML.
  18. I love what we're seeing from Hardaway. I hope Dwight gets what he has coming.
  19. Love the current placement but we're gonna need some breaks to keep the 3. 4 or 5 would be a disaster scenario. Miami (tied in loss column) has an easier schedule going forward. Not worried about the Celts or Hornets. It will be us or Miami. Tie breaker is division winner (which would still keep tie), then conference record. NO IDEA who holds that but I think they do currently. And, we don't play the Heat again though they do travel to Boston for one of their last few games.
  20. Great question....can't believe he isn't in jail....
  21. Looks pretty nice on paper.
  22. Could end up being a better version of Pero. I love the signing. Anyone know the contract deetz? I'm curious....or, will no one know until it's official tomorrow.
  23. Very important question I have for the board: This signing would likely just have us committed to him through the end of the season, correct?
