  1. In the post game quotes. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Must be nice for OKC fans to have a consistent winner to cheer for with two (used to be 3) superstars on its roster. He is slowly moving down the list of like able superstars for me after that.
  2. Bump for the troll thread from OP
  3. Just stop right here. Let the season play out how it will, and enjoy the ride.

It has just been a very refreshing year this year so far.
  5. Man, do you remember the Amare rumors when we took Horford 3rd? Such desperate times for the Hawks..and now, we are witnessing one of the best runs we might ever see from this franchise.
  6. Don't do it brother... come back off of the ledge. Enjoy the run right now. It won't stay forever like this, but let's have some fun while we're rolling!
  7. I want to add that I KNOW there is a media bias against the Hawks, and this is specific to them not having any superstars. You think Houston is a great free-agency destination? Houston is a dirty city with nothing going on sorry Dolf ;) and they were absolutely lucky to land Harden, which subsequently helped land other top free agents. The thing is that there were no "road blocks" in the way. The coverage over the past DECADE of Atlanta has been that Philips is a mausoleum, Atlanta is only good to travel into for strippers and hookers, and that the ownership is terrible, racist, whatever you want to say. There has always been some kind of roadblock, while some of it is true, some of it has been manufactured by the media to keep this city and franchise down. You have teams like the New York Knicks who are constantly propped up as this top market in basketball, when Atlanta is top-5. Why is this not discussed ever? Atlanta used to be a rockin' place and the Hawks were a great franchise. They had great players and great coaching. Why must the media try to keep Atlanta down? Wouldn't it be of benefit to help prop up this organization? Golden State and Portland are probably terrible NBA markets (don't know the exact numbers) but they have great season ticket numbers. Is that all ESPN and TNT are worried about? They just want to be at games with large crowds? I am tired of Atlanta's success this season being downplayed because it is the fly through city where you party and show up to the game hungover. That was maybe in the late 90's/early 2000's, but no more. Atlanta has so many great things going for it from a growth standpoint, and even with Tyler Perry's empire, that I do not see why players would not want to be here. I haven't even said anything about Turner turning a blind eye to the city it is based out of. Really, no love? Really? Folks, perception is reality here. The perception is that this team will falter, and the Hawks will just simply be the Hawks in the end. I am tired of the media forcing the perception on what they want Atlanta to continue to be, when Atlanta has morphed into this incredible city with a great basketball team that should be luring the top talent. We lured a great GM, will have new ownership, and have a solid team that plays together. Go Hawks
  8. My beef is with the ex-NBA players, who were Superstars, and think that the only way to be successful is to load up with Superstars and "Robin" talent around a Batman. The Hawks are a ragtag, under the radar bunch, who are just outworking and out coaching their counterparts. They play smart basketball and do not rely on isolation plays and off-balance shots at the end of the shot clock. The establishment of the NBA doesn't like the Hawks, and they will do WHATEVER they can to keep this quiet. The NBA became popular off of showcasing superstars and marquee match ups. For goodness sake, they showed a 5 win Knicks team on Friday night on ESPN, who went on to get destroyed by 30+ points on national television. This is natural-- you have an establishment, and another group comes in and is successful while disrupting the "norm". It is difficult for most folks to understand and accept what is happening, but it's happening. The Hawks every. single. day. are putting these top teams on notice and not barely winning, but winning by 10+.
  9. I think Wall has a better skill set, but is he a better overall player? I think there are intangibles that Teague is starting to learn, that is moving him up above Wall. You can't just look at points and assists to compare the two players-- both are averaging pretty much the same. Would I like to have Wall on the Hawks? Probably. But, the Hawks would have drop-offs in other intangibles with Wall.

I just get giddy listening to Bob freak out during the games now.. he is such a homer now, and it's awesome. Loving it!
  13. This is my "sit down" rant this afternoon. I was pretty ticked to see on NBA.com the coverage about the Wizards "rolling over" the Bulls, when the Hawks "barely" beat the Pistons. Of course, they are still trying to push their agenda of superstars and the teams that were selected as elite at the beginning of the season. The Hawks will have nothing of it. I would assume Sekou Smith would push the Hawks a bit more since he has come over to NBA.com, but he really hasn't. I remember on Friday night hearing Jon Barry speaking about the East's elite teams, and Atlanta wasn't even mentioned. Again it was Cleveland, Washington, and Chicago. SIT DOWN NBA.COM AND ESPN!!! That said, I have a little beef still with the Isaiah Thomas comments on Teague and the Hawks in general. Nobody will go watch the Hawks play because they "don't have a superstar". I will take the two crowds we have had against freaking Memphis and Washington this week. Unbelievable crowds! Atlanta wants a winner, and we have one right now with the Hawks. There was a lot of MVP talk for John Wall, and I think that Teague easily outplayed him today, and arguably this season. Yes, Wall almost had a trip-dub, but that consisted of 8 turnovers to Teague's 0. Will this head to head play today against Wall ease the mind of these "superstar" razzle dazzle ex-players turned commentators/experts? Teague is playing within the system, is a smarter player, and I would take his contract:productivity mixed in with some Baby Rondo any day over Wall. We have flexibility to pay elsewhere for other valuable assets while not having to pay $10mil+ for a top PG. Again, apologies for the rant, but this needs to be pointed out. Wizards "steamroll" the Bulls, and we beat Washington like they stole something. At some point we have to be thought of as contenders. I don't want to be under the radar. Our time is due, and our time is now. I want the exposure for this city, fan base, and the organization.

Wow, something has been in his sweet tea as of late. I would like to personally shake his hand for the homerism on the SportsSouth broadcast as of late. It is so exciting, and I like when my local broadcast roots for the good guys. I am not saying he rooted against the Hawks in the past, but he was always very neutral. I guess winning does a lot as well. Just loving everything all around! Go hawks
  15. Bump for the troll OP. Are you going to keep guessing our next loss until we do lose? Also, what will the winning Powerball numbers be?
  16. I made this GIF the other night... this should be used a lot, haha.
  17. Ohh gotcha... two different posters or two different sides to one poster? :)
  18. I thought North was fairly neutral on his posts--- at least from what I remember. Again, that was a couple of years ago. I think some folks on here fell into the apathy when it came to our Hawks and kind of gave up. He is probably embarrassed, and that's why he isn't around as much. Anyway, you are spot on BHB--- he is really a fabulous player. It is great that really, you can't lump every member of this roster into a category. This team is so dangerous, and like you said, they respect doing things the right way. Same for Al..same for Sap..same for Teague. You have a guy like Pero Antić who came over to the NBA to prove to himself that he could compete at the highest level. He is willing to do whatever it takes to win. Same with Baby Rondo. I just love this team all the way around.
  19. When he was acquired by Atlanta from the Bulls, I had a sense that Korver was pretty upset about it. Of course, he was leaving an NBA title contender for Atlanta, the "bottom" of the barrel when you talk franchises. However, Korver signed back with Atlanta for four years (during a supposed rebuild). This screamed a, "get the money and run" contract . A lot of people thought it was a steep price but Ferry knew what he was keeping with Korver. Korver also, if I recall correctly, was quoted that he believed in what Ferry and Bud were building in Atlanta, and wanted to be a part of it. Folks, Kyle Korver has been a big part of this transformation. I am confident that behind closed doors he is a great leader for this team and Atlanta would not be where it is now without him. We have seen even the Junkyard dog wanting to be called the "black Kyle Korver". Sorry for the novel, but I think that the signing of Korver, while not sexy, has made such a huge impact on this franchise, and I can feel that after this season we will have a decent shot at getting bigger name free agents now that we are more and more successful. Go Hawks
  20. Amen... Thomas saying we are championship caliber would be the kiss of death... lol Supes..they are talented, but not top-5 talented. What Thomas said was way off base. I am still not sold on Jennings, but Drummond and Monroe are the real deal.
  21. Oh, I want to add that Thomas had the audacity to say that Detroit is more talented than Atlanta. He went on to say that Detroit is as talented as Dallas, Portland, Cleveland, and Golden State. It is really laughable... talk about a homer.
  22. I for one was unimpressed with Thomas on NBA TV. It was really pitiful last night. He is "skeptical" of the Hawks still, despite the HISTORIC run they have been on. He went on to further hate on the Hawks players and why nobody wants to see them play (this was before the game) and then challenged Jeff Teague to call someone out. After Teague didn't call anyone out, he went back to why nobody wants to watch the Hawks because they don't create rivalries or any reason to watch. As if winning isn't enough, and you need superstar matchups to draw. He needs to stop trying to make it about when he was the NBA. The NBA is different now-- and with the new cap rules, etc, teams are having to build complete rosters and not a couple of stars with washed up roleplayers (Cleveland). This is the type of mentality that I hate. He obviously does not get the Atlanta market. We are starved for a winner. The Braves used to be that..and now they are terrible. The Falcons had a Star in Michael Vick, and we all know how that played out. The Hawks are a real team, playing winning basketball, and for the first time (since I can think back to) we actually had a pro-Hawks home crowd on a freaking Wednesday night that looked close to a sellout on TV. I am very proud of the direction of this team--no matter where they finish up the rest of the year. The Hawks have completely outpaced expectations for two years now and it is fun to be a fan. It was always fun, even when we were bad, but now it makes it even sweeter. Proud.
  23. I am skeptical about this approach, but we will see. To be honest, the same crowd who has enough money to buy the 8 home games for the Falcons, spends that same money to watch 5-8 superstars with their family when that team comes into town to play Atlanta. That was what I absolutely hated when I had season tickets. I agree that if they can spread the cost of a $100 ticket over multiple games, then it would be affordable for more people to come. The $5 braves "cheap" tickets come to mind..Talk about getting big groups of millennials together for tailgating and then going in to see a "cheap" Hawks game. That would be something else! I really like the idea of paying $15-20 and getting seated randomly in the lower bowl.. makes it really cool if you get "great" seats. I'm done with my rant... I don't agree with all of what Koonin is doing, but he has some great ideas.
  24. @hotlanta I don't think the product is super terrible right now--- the talent on the roster is bad. Some of the storylines are weak. Glad you're a fan though. I have been a fan from pretty much 89-now.
