  1. I also missed the game but noticed the exact same things in the boxscore last night. I started looking around HS for some answers. To the one concern with Horf, apparently he picked up 2 quick fouls early in the 1st and then DID NOT PLAY AT ALL in the second quarter (Woody's patented 'well let's just save him for the postgame interviews technique'), and then only sparingly in the 2nd half. I don't know what's up with Law IV, I can only assume that something is going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, that he either (a) is not physically ready to play or he (b) is somehow in Woody's doghouse again. Did note that Salim played well and Bibby at least played well offensively and only had one TO. Sure he was his same matador defending self, though. Judging from the point total, so was the rest of the team. Again. (sigh)
  2. I hate to say it, but I think making the playoffs will be bad for this team in the long run. It will give Gearon an excuse to keep Woody around, and will generate some money for ASG in the form of 2 home playoff games that they DO NOT DESERVE for subjecting us to this shoddy product night after night. Frankly, though, we are tanking so badly that I don't think we have to worry about it.

    If we...

He's half man, half bear-pig....or was it half bear, half man-pig, oh wait it was half man, half bear and half pig.
  4. I disagree. Smitty was not explosive, especially by the time he was a Hawk, but he was still effective in the post because he was 6'8" and knew how to use his body. Joe is bigger and stronger than almost everyone that guards him. If he would develop some simple footwork down there he would have no problem getting his shot off.
  5. Quote: Didn't Lorenzen & Shelden keep Dwight in check in that game we won??? Don't underestimate the dreaded BIG ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE LOL
  6. Well we looked good in defeating the MAgic at their place earlier this year....but of course a lot has changed since then. I gotta say that scratching out 2 wins against the league's worst team after 2 weeks of futility doesn't really give me a lot of confidence going in... and Joe had to play LIGHTS OUT the other night for us to get that win... here's hoping

    Thank God

Fellas, while I appreciate the vigor and the rancor for Stern, you have to remember that it was OUR scorers who gave Shaq an extra foul and upon realizing the error, TRIED TO COVER IT UP BY CHANGING AN EARLIER FOUL THAT WAS NOT SHAQ'S AND PLACING IT ON HIM. We got what we deserve. I mean, the error itself is egregious, but the cover-up is criminal. I'm just glad they let us replay it and didn't just strip us of the win outright. Now let's see if that win generates any momentum for this god-forsaken franchise. My guess is that it won't.
  8. I'm not talking about the team! Of course we hate the team right now. Look at my other posts. I am talking about your blind hate for any and all things Marvin. Marvin was not the problem tonight. JJ, Bibby, and esp J SMOOVE were the problem. We would have been better off leaving J smith at home tonight. He just let folks snatch rebounds over him, didnt run out on shooters...he was the one letting Dudley get those looks, not Marvin. Marvin was at least trying. Smooth had that look like "F this I'm not going hard tonight"
  9. Wow man you really are too far gone...that is just ignant hate for no reason
  10. Diesel you are delusional. The whole team played like ass in the 4th. To pin it on MW is ridiculous. MW and Horford were the only Hawks that actually played decent tonight.
  11. maybe they should just give the 1 a bye and disallow the #8 in the east.
  12. We must make it known to the league that not only do we have the league's worst GM, Coach, and Ownership Group, but also our SCORING TABLE is the worst in the league and help cost us games. Coming out and dropping a game we officially had won, and then dropping the regularly scheduled game to the league's worst team will show the rest of the league just how woefully inept we are from the top down. No matter how many lottery picks you throw at us, we will thumb our nose at you and maintain our standard of futility.
  13. this season is over anyway. Even if they fired him tonight and summoned Red Auerbach, they still wouldn't make the playoffs
  14. and it work perfectly EVERY time. Even smitty and Rathbun have this thing figured out. Our coach is horrible. Our players are apathetic. If I was on the floor I would just get everyone together and tell them how to defend it. Cut WOODY out of the loop. But they don't care...They look beat down
  15. yeah but even Woody can't shoulder all of the blame, unless the guys have gotten together to openly stage a mutiny until a new coach comes in. These guys are garbage right now. Absolutely worthless. Except Horf
  16. i believe the players have given up. They CANNOT be this inept at the game of basketball.
  17. GETTING RUN off the court by a sorry team...we are a sorry team...why do i even watch this crap...same story EVERY FING GAME. ANY NBA TEAM WILL MAKE SHOTS IF YOU LEAVE THEM ALL ALONE
  18. I moved up to DC in December. I got the league pass and I got tickets for March 17th when they come see the Wizards. I may just sell them now.... And of course Woody has them in zone right now, as everyone knows that's the best way to defend a lineup full of shooters
  19. they are definitely playing soft as p*ssy right now. So SORRY
  20. SPRINTING back on defense and matching up. Getting out on shooters, SIMPLE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL DEFENSIVE ROTATIONS...TAKING CARE OF THE BALL! I just saw Zaza backpedaling back on defense watching the ball while JASON FREAKING RICHARDSON was behind him, which he shortly received and laid in the basket uncontested. We have to hit tough shots to get points, on the other end we give up dunks and uncontested jumpers...just simple basic basketball... LETTING MATT CARROLL GET THE F*CKING OPEN LOOK WITH 1.2 SECONDS LEFT ON AN OUT OF BOUNDS PLAYING 5v4 AT THE END OF A QUARTER. THESE GUYS ARE ASS CLOWNS THEY DO NOT WANT TO PLAY WINNING BASKETBALL
  21. if you have any ideas about how we can get said shooters and get a defensive big while still retaining Smith and Childress i would sure like to see them. I don't think there is a way, as this team is configured, to do that, because of BK's fetish for 6'9 tweeners. BTW I agree with you that Chillz is a complete defensive liability. In fact, I wonder how he got out of Stanford w/o learning how to properly defend a pick and roll. I just don't think those stats help prove your point. I think he could be a very effective niche player on a team where he can freelance around the rim and baseline. We just don't have people who can spread the floor or create easy looks, so Chillz' flaws are more obvious because he's in the same operating space as Smoove, Horf, Z, MW, etc etc.
  22. Quote: Who could help the Hawks? You guys thought Bibby was going to make a difference and he hasn't. NOBODY outside of Lebron or Kobe or somebody like that can REALLY help the Hawks the they're setup right now. My point is obviously there are problems a hellva lot bigger than Childress. ALOT bigger. Your constant banging on the Hawks is a tired act. I really don't even know why you are blowin up HS if you have so much hate. Bibby hasn't been healthy since we got him so its unfair to render judgment at this time. This is a talented roster. The problem is management. From the top down, ASG, BK, Woody.
  23. I'm not a big Childress fan. I hated the pick when it was made. I thought it was way early for him. That said, he has surprised me in that he can do some things that really help out. While he has his flaws (horrendous-looking jump shot, doesn't hit the d-boards hard enough, not a great defender, classic 'tweener' in that he doesnt have the size to be a real post threat but doesnt have the ball skills or shot to be an effective perimeter player) he has a knack for offensive rebounding, put-backs, and isn't afraid to stick his nose in and get a loose ball. Plus, he has the athleticism, size and ability to finish that makes him a significant threat in transition in an up-and-down game. He doesn't, as you said, spread the floor, but when he's on the floor with shooters he can be very effective with scrap/garbage points and long rebounds. When he's on the floor with distributors (which outside of AC and maybe Bibby we have none) he could be especially effective because he seems particularly adept at finding open passing lanes around the rim and in the short corner, areas he can be very successful from. Those kinds of stats you submitted are for the fantasy geeks and star wars bloggers that never played basketball. They can be manipulated in such a way to prove whatever point the author chooses. I'm sure I could come up with some far-fetched stats to prove why John Koncack was a better post than Kevin Willis but all you need to do is watch games and you'll see it isn't true. There are many reasons why they are meaningless, some of which have been mentioned here (principally, Woody's sub patterns). I guarantee you that coaches and players could care less about these types of things. You can watch game film and figure out who's doing what out there. Besides, those percentages you pointed to were so small that I would submit to you that they are just expected variance and hardly statistically significant at all. I hope that helps.
