  1. I wonder what he is saying now? I knew all along Cleveland would be the top contender. They are just like the rest of us, make predictions on trends and streaks.
  2. I wouldn't say that about Cleveland. Yes, they did beat us TWICE in the regular season so far. But as you know, one was a VERY controversial call that had LEAGUE fans in an uproar. There were Laker fans, Celtic fans, and Orlando fans that commented on the disgrace shown to the Hawks. The other, we went into sleepwalk and could have EASILY won that game. Point in that game is that our DEFENSE slowed Cleveland down in the 4th Qtr as well, or otherwise, it would have been a blowout. The determining factor against Cleveland is if the refs are going to dictate the game/series like last year. The blatant fouling of Josh Smith on two seperate occassions that were no-calls and the breathing on Lebron James being called a fall and also when LeBron went to the hole, tripped on his own with Marvin "backing up" and not touching LeBron being called a foul. I think the way that we get a semi-decently called series if we have to face them is to put the pressure on the refs through varies mediums at our disposal; tweet, facebook, realgm, nba.com, dime, slamonline, etc., by posting the videos of what happened last year in the series with the Lebron no-call fouls and the Josh Smith getting mauled, and the Marvin no-touch called foul. We have to remind the NBA world of what went on this year with the clock issue. We can do/start what we did with Boston in 2008, we can do to Cleveland in 2010. We shock the world and MAKE them listen....WE WILL BE HEARD.....AND OUR PRESENCE FELT!! THIS IS ATLANTA!! (btw, the last part is in caps because I was yelling in the voice of King Leonidas, 300)
  3. :lol6: Now that really is funny....I used to hate to watch any media show when they start to cover the Hawks...to make matters worse, he was in Atlanta at least twice a week and still gave no love or shout-outs....look at Jamal Mashburn and how he gives us love....but keep it up Diesel, keep'em coming bruh :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  4. Why Charles Barkley as an honorary Hawksquawker?
  5. What he said!! i mean, it's okay to give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, but it is just disrespectful to be blatant and adamant about trading some of our pieces. We have the Joe bashers, the Marvin smashers, and the Smoove crashers, and the Woody slashers. I criticize ALL 9-10 on any given night, but it's constructive. I don't want to trade ANY of our players or call any of them busts. I would hate it if any of our players read the Squawk. Can you imagine what is/would go through their mind? It is what it is, I'm just here to reap the benefits of a half a score ago. It's our time and our time NOW!! Please support the Hawks even when they have bad games. They deserve it.
  6. As it has been stated earlier, INSURANCE. Because injuries are going to come unless you keep your players well rested throughout the 82 game season, especially in the second half when you're prepping for the playoffs. That's what Pop does with Timmy. On the second game of back-to-backs, Timmy gets rest about 1 out of every 3-4 back to backs when it is a winnable game without Timmy. *Side Note: Last night, TNT announcers made this observation when they were talking about injuries to teams during the Celtics and Bulls game last night. We have been relatively injury free but how long can we keep this up. It seems as we've pointed out our strength against the C's, the Bulls can point out the same style of play that it takes to be the C's. They always give them fits.
  7. So do I. Especially college football. I gambel whenever I go to Vegas. It's the only thing that I really gamble on besides blackjack and slots. I also used to be a member of this gambling site overseas because it was illegal in the U.S.
  8. Neither would I because he would come back after the All-Star game BEASTING just to show teams, coaches, players, and fans that he belonged to the All-Star
  9. more reason for the season...add veteran presence to decrease JJs minutes
  10. I disagree...I look at games as every game is an individual game while these stats compile games by the numbers...it's good for somethings but not on this one...if we blow out every team we win against and lose in nail biters to every team we lose against, are we over or under achievers...I think the saying is..."we are who we thought we were" a top 4 team in the East....by this same token/formula, if we win the close games and we are sitting at 31-7, we would still be underachieving, I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with that
  11. I concur...it's what veteran, contending teams do...build a deep and strong bench...plus it would be a "nice" problem to have, a bench TOO DEEP to divy the minutes equally...it's the same problem that Orlando is having with Marcin Gortat and Brandon Bass...there is rumblings that they want to be traded because they are not getting enough playing time now that Ryan Anderson has emerged...BUT, they are extremely deep...and so COULD we
  12. :laughing5: I don't think we have to screw anyone over :handshake: I think we could rotate Stack and Evans and see who presents the better matchup opportunity (Stacks-slash/shooter and Evans spot-up shooter/defense?) and who is having the better game as to who is going to get majority of the cleanup time...also, if/whenever Marvin is in a slump and/or sleepwalking, split some of his time
  13. Nice, valuable opinion. But like someone stated, he would have to be okay with 10 minutes a game...I personally think he could be much more valuable than Rio. For the game Rio had last night (career best), he still looked a bit out of control. He just seems out of control to me.
  14. I think this is an appropriate time for Diesel to call out stats as false and misleading. There is no way in he** that the Hawks are underachieving. That is a stupid measure of stats. Some teams you blow out, some teams will blow you out, some games will be nail-biters....but this is no way to measure a teams achievements. As Dominique said that other day in an article, when asked about the futuristic use of stats to evaluate players and talent...throw stats out the window. I watch a team or player to see and know if they can play. BOTTOM LINE!!
  15. The game doesn't come on until tomorrow night
  16. Joe Smith is dam near just as old...and he spent two years getting his body right, back from injury....in a role similar to Joe Smith, he could provide about 5 minutes a game and on occassion when Joe is tired or in foul trouble or if he has to take some personal time, give about 10-15 mins
  17. ^^^what he said^^^ because I don't want to take away anymore from Blink than we already have taken away....but the insurance and the ability to start resting Joe even more during games an extra 3-5 minutes so he'll be able to be more rested come playoff time
  18. I don't know man...I like Rio's energy and all...but he seems like a wild child running loose at recess. I will say he sacrifice his body, but he do throw his body everywhere and into everyone...OTH, Stackhouse has sat out the league a year...rejuvenated his body and energy and mental...and seems intent on making a statement by coming back to the NBA. His veteran presence and playoff experience could bode well for this team. He's a scorer who's poised to make a comeback.
  19. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/64033/20100114/with_preference_for_atlanta_stackhouse_hopes_for_nba_return/ I think that just makes us a deeper, more frightening team....we can then bring an entire second unit in with... Blink Craw Stackz/Evans Smith Pachulia nice blend of youth and veteran on the second unit....look at what the Spurs do with older, wily vets I'm ALL for it
  20. We all know that Diesel can get creative and top this. H*ll, I like the BK, Sund, and MW gaffe better. Although this is good, Diesels' are better.
  21. I see the national media is already over it, well ESPN anyways. WAIT...WHOA!!...WOW!! I can't believe that I just gave ESPN credit with having the Hawks back. (a national writer anyways)
  22. You brought good points, and exact instances of your observations. As many of you have already stated, I don't think that they will overturn any ruling or replay the game, but they will at least know that the Hawks have some fans that stand behind them and pay attention to what is going on. I hope you wrote that to the League Office.
  23. You all are writing some nice, tactful responses of your dismay. I would like to write as well. Who do I write to and where? I think the point of how Miami got to replay a game is sufficient. Especially, being that this game has even bigger implications. We are neck and neck in the playoff race with Cleveland as of now. This could very well be for the 3rd and 4th seeds, homecourt advantage if we meet in the playoffs. This is a major game. Also, to the fact that the NBA does not need this type of PR right after Donaghy's book just came out. I think Donaghy would eat up the spotlight and opportunity to point this out in public. They don't want this, nor do they need this PR frenzy. Atlanta is also a major media outlet. The story will be heard, and will be national. CNN don't have any ties to the NBA so it can run the story and create an even bigger story by tying the connection of Donaghy and his book to what went on and goes on, before other media outlets (FOX) by having ties to ATL. There are also Hoops magazines based here and blogs that can really get the story out and investigated.
