Ok picture this...I don't know how many of you have been in similar situations like this I have....I played in high school and I played on my unit team and EVERY base team where I was stationed in the Marines and Army U r at the line....the guys are getting ready to box out for the rebound...people are saying, he's gonna choke, box out, he's gonna choke, get the rebound....you can choke at any given time....do it consistently and you are considered a choke artist....there is a difference between choking and being a choke artist If a kicker misses the game winning super bowl field goal, is that a choke or just a miss even though he has hit 4/4 from 42, 46, 51, and 38 but he misses from 44....is that just a miss or a choke....it is a choke (It's the magic, it's the moment) the moment when the mishap happens my fellow hawks fans

Let's take a look at this math then.... If someone shoots 80%, that's 8/10 If someone shoots 80%, that's 4/5 Miss one extra free throw in those situations and it's not clutch If someone shoots 80% misses one extra free throw than normal, 7/10, now he's 70% bad If somone shoots 80% misses one extra freet throw than normal, 3/5, now he's 60%, worse My point is percentage doesn't tell the entire story if someone is clutch....the moment when the makes or misses come makes you clutch or not...just like it's the moments when you make a big shot LEGENDARY OR MEMORABLE Why don't people celebrate all the circus or HORSE shots Jordan has made over his career instead of the shot from the top of the arc on the Cavs and Craig Ehlo...it's the moment when he made it that makes him clutch....LEGENDARY Same principle applies to free throws....if he makes it and we win, it was a clutch moment....the opposite happened...he missed, we lost, a choke moment...that doesn't make him a choke artist unless it is a repititve issue...the same thing they used to say about Peyton Manning until he finally won one..(IN THE VOICE OF THE DLP GIRL IN THE COMMERCIAL) It's the Magic, it's the Moments

my thoughts exactly my man....I'll take this loss and JJ in the same situation any game...but read my above post as to MY definition of choke....he had a chance to win it...and he missed a FREEBIE...it happens...but in my book that classifies a choke....choke to me isn't just nervousness...if he was nervous and made it, is it a choke..NO...if he if he is not nervous and misses it...it's a choke....it's an easy shot that he missed....I remember in high school I gave us our first loss because I missed a free throw at the end of the game and no one under the basket...I CHOKED

I would say...it's the moments of the misses that makes someone chokes...I'm a JJ fan...HONESTLY...but ever hear of anyone saying these are the moments they live for when they're young...5 seconds on the clock...he dribbles right...cross'em over left...head fakes the shot (while keeping his dribble)....and goes back to the right...pulls up...scores...it's the MOMENTS for the win my man when you make or miss that considers the choke or legend status...Jordan hit plenty of shots prettier than the legendary moments...but it's the moments bruh...I'll take this loss and this moment...it will humble him to do better

Thanks...even I needed that one....although he DID choke...I will take that with an extension to Joe Johnson....don't criticize the people who acknowledge that he choked....just acknowledge that he choked....EVERYBODY has done it....he is still OUR guy....he will just play harder because he is a competitor quietly (the new SILENT ASSASSIN)...even with tonights performance
  7. He became a fan last year and probably don't understand the game....stick to college ball NO REASON
  8. I know right...this guy sounds slow...Boston is THE BEST team in the league and we CONTINUE to give them fits...we are still GROWING and LEARNING how to win...we played them GREAT again defensively....now I'm not sayin blame the loss on Woodson but he is responsible for us not having any set offensive plays...but JJ lost this one...and I'll take it....losses like this happens to great teams
  9. I have to disagree my man...anytime some goes up to defend a shot and gets dunked on...he gets dunked on.....Perkins got dunked ON!!
  10. good one...I give them 52-30....30-11 home record and 22-19 road record Alllright....Giggity
  11. What was being said...couldn't see it...at work?
  12. I would start Solomon Jones only if a more lanky, athletic player was starting..say Tyrus Thomas for the Bulls and KG for the Celtics...his length and athletic skills and shot blocking can come up big against those two types of player...I just think starting Zaza against KG is a mistake waiting to happen...KG is gonna want to blast Zaza from last year and pose a mismatch against Zaza and we all know that Perkins is too much meat for Zaza (I know Zaza has a solid build but I mean, physical) I would go with either one coming off the bench...you can't go wrong...it's not like Mo can't hit shots and he doesn't take the cringing shots that Murray takes (albeit that it has worked so far) plus he offers better perimeter defense so it just depends on the dictation of the game
  13. Josh turned the ball over 2-3 times. One time it was Zaza's fault that he didn't catch the ball. I was sitting in 111 seat S-3. He made up for turnovers with his defense and hustle. After he turned the ball over he made it his vendetta to get the ball back. He came out sluggish and slow in the first half. In the second half he picked it up but didn't try to force the issue. He played within the flow of the game.
  14. I have to disagree with you on a few things. How do you give Zaza an A with NO defense and Evans a B for no offense when he provided MORE offense than Zaza provided defense. Zaza is a B-. He needs to work on his defense to get an A. Evans sunk two 3s. One was a clutch shot with the clock winding down. He did provide some offense. He is our Bruce Bowen. Notice I did not say a poor mans Bruce Bowen. His defense is just as good as Bruce if not better. He is starter material....a 47 game starter for the division winners last season. He just takes shots within the flow of the game that doesn't hapmer the offense or chemistry. Acie I agree. Murray should be a B-. Yes he scored but at times selfish and hoggish. He needs to learn to score in the flow of the game and not feel like he needs to or should put the game on his shoulders. Yes we need bench scoring but in the flow of the game. Solo, for the minutes he played should get a B-. What he was called in to do in the game he did. He didn't try to force anything. People would mob him out of town if he tried to force some things.
  15. So I guess anyone who sees that JS has an attitude problem is 40/20, is a medium. PLEASE!! Because an "expert, Simmons," FEELS that JS will sandbag until Wooody is fired and who "LIVES" nba, who probably doesn't follow the Hawks too tough....you think he's a cancer. Why is it not emotion, passion, willpower, determination? Everytime he has a "tirade" on the court....he goes DIRECTLY to Woody first to speak about it, clear the air, and it is determined that he is just PASSIONATE about winning. I know it is another sport, but passion is when Chad Johnson CRIED on national t.v. because he knew the Bengals could/should be better, nevermind his other shenanigans and antics....but that one moment showed PASSION and love for the game. That's what Josh does EVERY night on the court. He plays with the game on his sleeve and let's it all hang out on the court. He just needs to learn to leave it on the court in which most nights he does. When he does not leave it on the court and shows it on the court (tirades) he comes right out and speaks with Woodson first. I view it as passionate, the will to win.
  16. I'm glad I'm not the only one. It doesn't seem too many of our fans are optimistic about the season and believe we can do it.....it's not too hard or too far fetched. We just need to improve on our road games.
  17. I'm drinking the kool-aid...I'm sticking with 45 games. 28 home wins 28-14 17 road wins 17-25 Is this prediction too far fetched?
  18. I think the Hawks will be 45-37, with a 5-6 seed in the playoffs. 1. Boston (champs, big three) 2. Detroit (consistency, veteran chemistry) 3. Philly (add Brand to the equation from last year, scary thought, COMPLETE starting 5....need deeper bench) 4. Cleveland (King James) 5. Hawks (youngsters are vets now, added vets, team chemistry/unity, hunger, athleticism) 6. Toronto (althought getting long in the tooth, JO with Bosh in the post---potent) 7. Orlando (big dropoff from last year....big dropoff from Turkoglu) 8. Washington (need Agent Zero for at least 60 games or more help for AJ and CB) In the mix for 7-8 Chicago, Milwaukee
  19. Quote: "Josh didn't start a game for a team that won 37 games last year, but he's also not below-par in any area I can think of! Dial 1-800-4NBA-TIX!" The key with Chillz is he need others to set him up. He won't excel on a team where he is the "go to" guy, because he can't create on his own very well. He needs the defense to focus on other players so he can slip into cracks and seams around the baseline/basket. His success is VERY reliant on others. First of, I would like to say that this is my first post....but I would like to think that I can contribute some nice posts and opinions to HS. With that being said....not all players have to create their own shots to be successful or good and contributing players. Some people can create their own shots but can still play stagnant a lot of times, a la Hawks players....as it has been stated on here soooo many times, Chillz move without the ball VERY well. Take those motions play that Chill improvise into the hawks stagnant offense when Joe is doubled and we are COMPLETELY lost and befuddled. People don't seem to factor in that Chillz also gets to hole, not at will but frequently.Think about that.
