  1. I play from time to time at LA Fitness on LaVista. I used to hit Metropolitan Run-n-Shoot in my hayday. My 'little' brother, my cousin Stanley and I used to give'em hell in that gym.

I can agree to that to a lesser extent. Scott's improvement has been exponential. This staff obviously develops players. I don't know what is going on with the savior Schröder, but maybe in year 2 or 3 it clicks for him. That may be too late for us because he will become a free agent at that point. I guess Jenkins just can't get healthy and may have missed his opportunity for some PT. I digress. I would develop Scott to be a 3 with spot minutes at the 4 with a small lineup. He just does not have the frame or length to be a constant 4. So yes I would bring Ivan back at the 4 and develop Scott at the 3 and while we're at it, try to pry Zaza from Milwaukee for some shooters, Cunningham and/or Jenkins and maybe a 2nd round pick. GOD, I miss Zaza and Ivan down low. Where is Hawksfanatic when you need a fix.

Because Scott cannot defend KG even at this age, cannot defend Bosh, cannot rebound with them and is as duly noted, finesse on the interior. We have no interior outside of Brand (refreshingly). Ivan also was a cerebral player, like Rodman. He got in players heads. He bates and intimidates. He is highly efficient at drawing charges. Scott has not shown that and I highly doubt that he is able to do that, definitely with the bate and intimidate. Ivan managed to find minutes with Woody and Drew who kept doghouses. This regime allows players to contribute.
  4. I was a starting point guard as well. Oh hell yes coaches are partially to blame. Definitely. You play by my system and within your defined roles or you get the hell on and at the end of the bench. If Josh PT diminished, he would either: A) get in line with the coaching or B) become a malcontent and request a trade. No one player should be bigger than the team. It handicaps the team. I defend him because I'm a fan and feel he takes TOO MUCH criticism from these boards. Nothing more, nothing less. Teague is my favorite player on the team now, followed closely be Milsap. Durant favorite player in the league.
  5. That is the thing. I am not a Smoove fan first. I have been a fan of the Hawks since 1990. I tried to tailor my game to Nique's game, even in my early adult life. I used to wear my hair like Dominique, complete with the S-Curl (Duke kit). I was a Hawks fan before Josh even started playing basketball and will be a Hawks fan when Josh retires. I just 'follow' Josh through highlights now because they don't get much televised air play. Bonkers is as his name goes, Bonkers. This dude had an emotional breakdown over Josh.
  6. Get away from the edge man! Differences of opinion. I'm over it. You obviously are not. Sounds like a lot of emotional resentment you have there buddy. You may need to lie on that couch in the corner and tell us how you really feel. Get it off your chest. I still go to my 12-15 games a year. Still wear my Smith jersey and my Dominique jersey as well as Bell. Please speak on what you are informed on. I have been a Hawks fan since I started playing organized ball at 10. I had put a 'Duke' wave kit in my head just to get my hair like Dominique. PREACH!! How are you going to tell me what I am and am not? I am a Hawks fan first, basketball fan second. And I like to think that I am a student of the history of the game. I don't get emotionally attached, just a fan.
  7. The same way it amazes me, and I am not being funny but serious...that someone who probably has not ever played organized ball on a high level (see what I did there, judge you and don't even know you), has never interviewed anyone within the organization, been a part of the locker, inside information from the coaching staff, can judge someone else's game when they know Hawks past player development was non-existent. Obviously, the coaching staff fostered his game because they did not reign it in. I blame the coaching JUST AS MUCH as I blame Josh. Never said he was absolved of ridicule by fans and media, but take it with a grain of salt. You can reach full potential coming out of high school straight into the NBA without being developed as a player. And please, Josh is definitely not the worst shooter ever, he was a fringe/snubbed All-Star probably 3 years in his NBA career. So even with 'Chuck McChuckersons' GOD-AWFUL shot selection, he was a good player, enough to make 12+ mil a year and some even considered that an ideal contract. By the way this board sounds, he was worse than the Falcons Aundray Bruce pick. Get over it my man.

For everyone questioning as to why to bring Ivan back and regress Mike Scott or sacrifice Scott's minutes, think for a second. They bring to totally different games to the team. There is nothing that Ivan does that Scott can do; the rebounding, the tough inside presence, the defense, the intimidation, - maybe the scoring, but that's all. Scott's improvement and his range is to be commended but he does not bring what Ivan bring. Ivan does not bring what Scott brings which is extended range and he scores at a decent clip on the inside. But still, Ivan was an intimidator and enforcer. I love the way he always challenged KG and Bosh.
  9. This MB is a joke. How did a thread oozing nothing but positive PR for the Hawks go to Josh bashing? And with the Josh bashing, how soon do people forget? When JJ got hurt, the Hawks kept winning. When Horford went out ANNUALLY, the Hawks kept winning. The Hawks always won the 'expected' amount of wins and some seasons exceeded that. Josh was a CATALYST of those wins. 100% In the playoffs when JJ disappeared like flow in the Progressive commercial, Josh competed. Yes he had a few bad playoff games but also look at the reffing in the playoffs. The refs ALWAYS called phantom fouls on Josh, whether it was a blocked shot or calling him for charging, they were phantom. Which change any players approach and momentum in a game. Yes, Josh made mistakes, but questioning his passion, desire, will, and determination is asinine. He continually worked on his game because he wanted to become that all around player. Woody and Drew digressed Josh game because there was no player development and they allowed it. Maybe Gearon as well by comparing Josh as a poor man's Lebron. WOW! I am not going to say they encouraged it. But we definitely know player development and developed roles is not something that either of them coached on the floor. I don't know about practice and film rooms because I was not there and don't have an inside man. Just remember, 'THE $HIT WORKS!' What a joke Squawk!
  10. Post pic or it didn't happen... I don't know what came over me, I couldn't help myself. I never said it before but ALWAYS wanted to say it.
  11. I'd say Teague needs to study Tony Parker and emulate his game and aggression. I bet Coach Bud will LOVE that. They have similar game styles.
  12. Teague already was a 15 and 7 guy with Smoove here trying to run the show and Al chipping in. With Teague dominating the ball and having full control of the offense, it is not far fetched to think that Teague can go up to 18-20 and 10. I can definitely see that with him being given the green light and with better shooters around him.
  13. No, it is not like he has had a PG behind him the entire time. It is because he has had PG that should be 3rd stringers, 2nd stringers at best in front of him and the asinine coaches that made these decisions. How many DNP-CD did Teague get his first 2 years? Woody kept Teague in the doghouse to appease an old and broken down Bibby. Then it was Heinrich. He was pretty much 'THRUST' into the limelight and starting role when Kirk Heinrich got injured in the playoffs against Derrick Rose. The coaches 'allowed' Josh and Al to run the fast break instead of enforcing them to give it up to the PG and to fill the lanes and run the wing. Then when Josh gets a TO, ya'll want to blame Josh doing and Teague for not DEMANDING the ball. Lay blame where it is due, coaching. The coaches were too afraid of ticking Josh off. Josh should have been the one to have DNP-CD. When you harbor an environment and system like that, there is NOTHING that Teague could have said to Joe, Josh, nor Al to make them give him the ball if the coach is not enforcing it. So, HELL YEAH I would be pissed on bench when I get benched for making 1-2 mistakes and you got Josh making error after error, dumb shot after dumb shot. You got Joe dribble, dribble, dribble shoot with 2 people on him with 3 seconds on the clock or pass out of a double team with 5 seconds on the clock. But they don't get chastised and stay in the game. Has anyone ever thought that that is how teams schemed defensively against the Hawks in Joes days? Let Joe dribble until about 10-12 seconds on the clock...double team him and force a two defender contested jumper or pass with only 3 seconds on the clock. I like Teague and his game. I think he now will have the 'green light' to shine. All he needs to do is develop a mid-range game (as I think Coach Bud will emphasize) and he will be just as dangerous as Tony Parker. Tony Parker is a shoot first PG, who gets in the paint at will. He is not a playmaker. He is a scorer, who sometimes dribbles too much, with a HOF and maybe 2 in Genobli with good shooters and role players around him.Teague can have the same effect when opportunities arise. He is not a playmaker. He is a scorer. I think Al has a sense of what time it is. He said it best when Teague was resigned - "time to put the hard hat on and get back to work - Let's go Teague!' (synopsis - not verbatim) WELCOME BACK TEAGUE!!
  14. I'd like to disagree on this one. We were 44-38 and were not expected to even make the playoffs (which ultimately means we fall below .500 wit hthe 8th seed at 38-44) without Joe Johnson and Marvin. The question arose if Josh and Al could step up in Joe's absence and more focus of the defense on them. Well, they answered the question. Also, if Josh does not put up those numbers, we are making the playoffs. Every player has their flaws. Josh flaw is BBIQ/shot selection. Even still, I take him any day. Dwight can't make free throws and everyone that can is pulling all stops. More Josh please!!
  15. We need to get resident capologists Hawksfanatic, Mace, or AHF on this...
  16. I'm not dreamy eyed at all. I wouldn't mind Josh being a 6th man. Hell, if Josh is the 6th man, we probably have a d@mn good starter at SF. I was just responding to your acknowledgement that Josh isn't a starting SF. He is not only a starting SF, but STILL with his shooting woes, a borderline All-Star starting SF. But he won't get in at SF because he has LBJ and Melo. But he did put up GREAT starting SF numbers without the great Joe Johnson. That is all I'm saying.
  17. QFT. Mr. Blank can do brunch and seal the deal. I wish I had his negotiation skills before I got married. *sighs* the opportunities I missed out on
  18. How is Smith NOT a good starting SF? 17.5 pts, 8.5 rebs, and 4.5 apg to go along with 1.5 spg and 1.8 bpg...how is that not starting SF numbers? All the while, playing pretty good man defense at the position. BBIQ (dumb shots) aside, he is a HELLUVA player. That is why the market is pursuing him. Hated and Unappreciated.
  19. This will be my first Hawksquawk game, but I go to about 8-10 games a year. Count me in for either of the games except for the Orlando game. I will be out of town on a cruise on 'Carnival' nonetheless...PRAY for me.
  20. I think they are, by far, the best big tandem in the league.
  21. I KNOW how you feel. This is all I have been doing. It is a good thing I work from home two days a week so I don't have to look over my shoulder...but it is no secret, my ENTIRE office know I am a sports junkie. I constantly get heckled about my team and my city. F.I.L.A.
  22. No, you're right...but Horford shouldn't bring the ball up the court either, but he is known for doing that and so is Josh...when it is good, you hear the comments, 'what teams have a PF and C combo that can lead a fast break?' and this isn't just from 'some' Hawks fans but analysts..but when it goes wrong, give the ball up How about Joe shouldn't bring the ball up court either because he drains the clock with 15+ seconds of monotonous dribble and kill offensive flow. At least Josh attempts to pass the ball in running a fast break and not just pulling up and dribbling. What other argument to refute the points I made do you have? I acknowledged his shooting %. Hell, I don't want Joe shooting 44% but we know it is Josh: Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG 11-12 ATL 37 37 35.5 0.447 0.282 0.568 1.9 7.9 9.9 3.6 1.5 2.1 2.7 2.5 16.6 Career 571 549 33.9 0.464 0.282 0.668 2.1 5.8 7.9 3.0 1.3 2.2 2.5 2.9 14.7 Joe: Season Averages Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG 11-12 ATL 33 33 35.8 0.423 0.341 0.880 1.0 2.5 3.5 3.7 0.7 0.2 1.8 1.4 17.6 Career 804 734 36.7 0.442 0.365 0.796 1.0 3.2 4.2 4.5 1.0 0.2 2.2 2.0 17.7
  23. Can we take into account that Josh more times than not is going to either attempt a block or alter a shooter to pass the ball. Not to mention, how many blocks are taken into consideration because it still implies that he's attempting to take a charge. You want to bring up being on the perimeter...who should be the first one back to attempt to take a charge (we all know the Hawks miss a lot of long shots that leads to long rebounds), a perimeter player or a forward? Fact of the matter is...Josh is top three on this team with everything except shooting %s...but let's not act like he is shooting the worst neither. Few great games huh, how many good games are taken into account. First it was wait until after the All-Star selection and he'll revert back to old Josh, then it is wait til everything settles and he'll revert back, then it is wait until the playoffs and he'll revert back, when in actuality, he plays harder and better than any Hawks player in recent playoff performances.
