  1. Picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue. I shudder to think at the offers that Schlenk has fielded.
  2. Just turned over and they did not go into specifics. The thrust of the convo was who would be willing to take him.
  3. NBA TV reporting Deng to us is in play as well. I bet Ferry will get a laugh should that happen...
  4. I wonder if there is forum wide PTSD therapy as the Mavs trade really might be a bridge too far. Baze is a nice player, relatively young, and at minimum should have value at the trade deadline. It would be one thing to avoid paying the tax.
  5. Can we replace "monster" for "crackhead" on the thread title?
  6. The worst part is Steph took so long to develop that Schlenk will lean far into the "it takes time" or whatever his preferred non Process nomenclature.
  7. Tanking makes a great deal of sense. Especially if you are not a franchise in NY or LA where it will either take paying the most (seldom changes things) and or complimentary pieces/coaching that are worthwhile. Simply, should an actual All NBA player be available at 3, the chances of him wanting to come here at 27 or whenever the post rookie contract ends has traditionally been slim. Joe might be the best FA we got in at least a decade. The biggest issue to me is what it does to all these 1st and 2nd year players when losing is to be expected. Worse, Bud made it at least look like we might be the best 2x win team out there last year and of course met with the Greek's approval to be the Bucks HC. While I remain optimistic about our new coach, lord only knows what kind of coach he will turn out to be.
  8. Delete this rancid thought! The Young to ATL thing makes a great deal of sense, but I honestly think if we get him it will be moving up and not down. While Baze's contract is not the best, it is damn sure far from the worst and I don't think we will need to surrender much to move him.
  9. I think the Kings problem with Doncic is not them wanting to take him and more that he really does not want to go there. As a player with a huge European following, it only stands to reason that his agents, et al, will want him playing in EST. Add in 12 or however many years of the Kings not even making it into the playoffs as opposed to the Hawks just ending a 10 year playoff run and.... While I have heard a number of players flat out refusing to interview or even share medicals with both Sac and Memphis, there has not been one report of that happening with us.
  10. With as many teams that are purposely sucking as there are, I would damn sure want to be competitive as opposed to purposely losing considering what it risks to the players. I get the whole better to compete for rings than go out in the first round and have a craptastic draft pick. Regardless, we are deep in the tank and the hope for me now is to dig out ASAP.
  11. I meant to write that as my last sentence on my last post. One of my biggest regrets is missing Ted give the commencement in Athens 5000 years ago when I graduated. As for the Jerry West/Buford thing, that is somewhat gleaming the cube as hardly any franchises have a HOF exec making the calls and beyond that drafting is still witchcraft.
  12. I think the ultimate concern is size not ability. Even Steph at 6'3 (in shoes) is two inches taller than Trae and at least in the Houston series was hard not to think of as a liability on D. What Trae did as a Frosh is amazing and has sadly been minimized. That said, his turnovers are distressing as is his productivity as game planning became more and more about him.
  13. Indeed. I would think most GM's do the whole leading the ownership to summing up the only practical decision is the one laid out by him. That said, drafting still is an utter crapshoot on the whole and on this decision the ramifications could not possibly be larger. If Doncic becomes a star, that is a I shudder to think change in valuation and revenues. Also think his "team" love the idea of him playing in the Eastern Time Zone with respect to Europe and furthermore Hartsfield being what it is.
  14. I want Sexton enough to start a thread about it, but as he seems to be boogying up the draft boards, I would not think about it before the 10th on down. Young well could be a great PG, but he will still be exposed on D. Even the Steph compro is tough considering that even before KD, he still had some damn fine teammates.
  15. We should be so lucky about Doncic's ceiling being Joe. While perhaps not the most charismatic face of the franchise, he was a badarse in his PHX days and for most of the Hawks era. Still a nice player.
  16. This thread reminds me of a thread not long back about where the true power lies. I decidedly think it obviously lies/lied with Ressler and went further to say that in almost all instances the ownership drives the bus. It only makes sense as a GM can and will be fired at any moment. This is clearly to me a go for both situation. Beyond anything else, Schlenk will no doubt be upset if Young is his guy and furthermore the 19th plus either/or 30th and 34th should get us in play for Young. And of course, the Memphis pick seems decidedly up for grabs provided we take one of the worst contracts out there.
  17. I really hope this is a smokescreen to a smokescreen. If you will. Even the patron saints of sucking tended to keep their tippity top picks, but most went the way of Okafor and not Simmons/Embiid. The 30th and 34th? Have at as 4 picks is just too many. 3 would be fine, but still have on roster two players (and maybe 2 more besides) that demand playing time. Like has been pointed out here and elsewhere, the whole point of having the worst season in Atlanta Hawks history was exactly to have a top 3 pick and for once we were lucky there.
  18. Who that had lived through BK reign of stupidity could even posit such a thing? Then and now there are always exceptions to the rule and I would not want Steph guarding a 2 let alone a 3 for instance. I suppose the most salient thing is whether he got another GM gig in all the years since.
  19. Judging by AJC, the Dennis deal is only awaiting final exams and so on prior to completion. It does make me wonder if either Bradley or Schultz have ever really gone out on a limb as opposed to being spoon fed the GM/Ownership's perception of reality and spin.
  20. Add in the other Slovak countries (Serbia, Croatia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, other Baltic country I am spacing on and other likewise Central and Southern European...
