  1. I'm curious, why the Hawks didn't even take a look at Chris Duhon. Seems like the perfect kind of player, good defense, unselfish, for the Hawks - yet I don't remember the Hawks mentioning him. Is Tyronne Lue too similar a player? Or are you looking to Royal Ivey to fill that role?

  3. Quote: Quote: Quote: After watching the game live last night JJ is our best player. Just look at the stats and you will find out. He would score more if we had a decent PG. I thought he was going to be your PG? Wasn't that the point of sending all those picks? He was going to be your 6'7" point guard - posting up the little guys and creating opportunities all over the court for your swingmen. 5 games in is that being abandoned? Yes. LOL, well it doesn't get any clearer than that.

  5. Quote: The western teams are regarded as better than the east coast teams. To prove this, the schedule makers apparently "Feed" the weakest east teams to the western conference teams to start the season. The Bulls and the Hawks are both part of the lower teams in the east. Give them plenty of games with the western teams early and let them "Fatten up" on these weaker teams. I'm sure that isn't what they do, but it does make you question what is going on, doesn't it? Hawks get their first nine games against the west. If they are going to do this, move us. The Falcons were, for years, part of the west coast division in the NFL. We were in the same division as LA & SF. Well the Bulls go on a West Coast trip to start the season because every year in November the circus comes to Chicago and takes over the United Center. I don't know why Atlanta got the schedule they got. At least they get to play some of those games at home though. And remember the Bulls started 0-9 and then 1-12 and still made the playoffs.
  6. Quote: Quote: and if they'll throw in a 2nd with Bosh/ Alvin, we'd give them Chillz wtf chill for a 2nd rounder? are u on crack? No more crack than thinking Toronto is going to give up Bosh for Al and J Smith.
  7. Quote: I have been a Hawks fan all my life. I have watched year after year as we start our season off with he west coast road trip of Doom. But what do they do this year? Our first 9 games are against western conference teams. Our first 9 Freakin games. What kind of sh*t is that. I have never heard of this happening before 9 straight games people!!! The Bulls go on West Coast trip every year, and play approx 8-12 games on the west coast on a single road trip.
  8. Quote: next year. Even if he were guaranteed to be here, I certainly wouldn't pass up a Center of Curry's caliber because Al is not a great defender and rebounder. Curry is possibly the worst defending and rebounding Center in the league. And I'm a Bulls fan, I frequent these boards because the people here are about the most intelligent out there (as far as NBA fans go). Much less slang and stupidity here than on most other boards. Besides I think the Hawks have put together a solid team, but are going about it the wrong way.
  9. Quote: better last year than ever before. Does that not speak to improvement? I think there is a HECK of a lot better chance of him getting into tip top shape than there is that Dalembert or Chandler will EVER be the low post threat that he is. And Curry will always give up as many points as he scores. Sure he improved his conditioning, but it was also a contract year - coincidence? Now that he's got his contract he's out of shape, curious. Give me a Ben Wallace/ Tyson Chandler type over Curry any day of the week.
  10. Quote: his conditioning last year was unbelievable. People who claim he was out of shape still go off of his criticism from his first year and a half. He was in great shape last year, and that's not debatable Yes it is, I'm a Chicago fan and watched roughly 60 games last year. He was in good physical shape, but was still unable to put long stretches together. Just because a guy looks good doesn't mean he has stamina. His defense wasn't the only reason Skiles left him on the bench in the fourth. If he played significant minutes in the first half, he was toast by the fourth. He was in the best shape of his life, but for Curry thats not saying much... And now that he's got the big contract, I wouldn't expect to see a slimmed down Curry anytime soon.
  11. Quote: Assuming Olden keeps himself in semi-decent shape (you know he's playing golf...well, at least at MOST courses)~ I'd love to see a reality show featuring Olden vs Shaq (or perhaps include any other pro-athletes/aspiring law enforcement officers) in a reality show... I HATE reality tv...but that, along with the new Ditka show (where he coaches a HS team), those, I'll watch. I'm pretty sure you mean Butkus. He's coaching the HS team, Ditka does analysis for ESPN.
  12. Quote: Quote: Curry is a possible All Star caliber player. A guy his size who gets outrebounded by point guards isn't an All-Star. Agreed. Curry will never be able to play enough minutes to accumulate the kind of stats needed to be an All-Star. His conditioning is and always has been (even last year when he slimmed down)atrocious. 20/5/1 with 4 to's/game isn't going to cut it...
  13. Quote: but what reason do you have to believe that he had any interest in staying in this losing situtation other than "I think so"? He might have wanted out of the rebuilding. or he didn't like the city. or his teammates. or portland was closer to family. the point is we don't know Actually, he is quoted as saying that the reason he is considering resigning with Portland is because they were the only team that took a chance on him - i.e. the only team that offered him a contract.
  14. Sorry, but these numbers don't take defense into accounts - Dalembert and Chandler are far and away the best of the lot in that area.
  15. Quote: The hawks have not drafted a player no where near the calibur of Robinson or Duncan, so your point is mute IMO. It is fine to rebuild, look at the Lakers afdter Shaq left, there terrible. So, it takes a superstar player that we do not have and role players (look at SA) to win in this league. If you look over the past several years no team has dismantled like the Hawks and recovered. Didn't the Pistons overhaul their team? What about Houston? The Bulls certainly started from scratch, and while they haven't made the Finals, they have become respectable.
  16. Quote: Dude could I get the code to that?? right-click properties...
  17. Quote: Quote: Teams were no longer interested in invested a high pick in a HSer who could possibly flop. Hughes was a high schooler. Dirk was 18 also I believe and both went top 10. Doesn't really matter though. The bottom line is that Harrington hasn't had much fun here and would be unlikely to resign, so they might as well get something for him. Dirk was also a European, and the love affair with European players still hasn't died...
  18. Quote: I don't think you saw Chill play last year, he ranks right up there with Iguodala and Deng. He will be fine. The difference is that Deng and Igoudala both played major roles on playoff teams - while Chill was playing out the string on a last place team.
  19. Quote: some would argue a young team. some would argue the lack of playing together. i will tell the truth. Management. if my sales staff lays an egg it is a direct reflection upon me. the Hawks laid an egg in the 3rd last night and there is no need to look any further than Woodson. if you watched that game last night then you KNOW that there is no reason why the team that was out there in the first half of the game should lose by 20. NO WAY. basketball isn't very complicated. when GS was making their run the Hawks starters should have been in there the weather the storm and they weren't. beyond that you have to use your timeouts in those situations to stop the momentum during those runs. i'm not drinking the 1st half koolaid guys. are we as good as that first half team? maybe maybe not. are we as bad as that 2nd half team? no way in heck! it's on Woodson to make sure that 2nd half team doesn't show itself again this season. There are quite a few coaches who don't believe in using their timeouts to stop another teams "momentum" Phil Jackson and Greg Popovich both come to mind. Additionally it is not uncommon to empty the bench to try and stop another teams run again Phil Jacksons name come to mind, along with Scott Skiles.
  20. Quote: We need to get Rondo in a Hawks uniform. He has long arms so maybe Billy will give him a look. We can get a Bigman via Free Agency in Wilcox or Nene. I'm sorry, but that is Jerry Krause'esque. Like ol Jerry checking the size of their hands...
  21. Quote: Quote: Buzz, I pretty much always agree with your posts and I do agree that the Bulls were young last year and we did suck in the second half last nite, well the part I could watch did, I gave up and turned it off. But just going with the Bulls analogy, remember, they started like crap last year, not that I expect us to come along like they did. Their interior core had played together for a pretty good while and really wasnt young when you remember Othella Harrington and Antonio Davis probably logged similar minutes to Curry and Chandler. Deng is similar in inexperience to much of our core but Duhon and Hinrich played tons of high level college ball, Gordon vs Chill is probably a wash, Nocioni I think is a good bit older and more internationally experienced than ZaZa. We have all these new pieces to fit together and to me we'll have about the team level of experience that the Bulls had last year NEXT year, so I expect us to make our surge then. I agree next year we should see a big improvement. All I am saying is this year we should see a nice little one. 25 to 30 wins. No excuses. We have two very veteran young players in Al and JJ, so we can't say everyone is in their 1st or 2nd year and that's why we will be so bad. The Bulls came on two years ago with a nice improvement and that is exactly what I expect...not the playoffs like they did last year but a solid improvement like they had two years ago. The bulls were in the lottery that year but what I do remember is how there was also a buzz about how they had made huge strides and were at least competitive. We need to be competitive and play hard. Lottery again is fine and expected but being half ass is not. The Bulls turnaround started with Hiring of Skiles and continued with the drafting of players who had all played at big-time college programs and had played in big pressure games. Hinrich, Duhon, Deng, and Gordon had all played in the National Title game and had played for high profile coaches. Those 4 players were the reason the Bulls made the playoffs.
  22. Quote: Quote: e were inexperienced at a time when we needed big-time experience and leadership," Hawks point guard Joe Johnson said of their Wednesday night meltdown. "We had a lead and when the Warriors started making their run everybody was trying to do it on their own instead of sticking with the game plan and everybody knowing their role. "Things got a little chaotic and we never came together. Things got crazy, we got down 10 and the next thing you know the game is over." Preventing those sorts of chaotic stretches will be the responsibility of veterans like Johnson, who is making the transition from shooting guard to point guard. He struggled Wednesday night as well, he had just one assist and one rebound to go with his 17 points. "I'm not excluding myself from blame at all," said Johnson, one of the team's co-captains. "This is something all of us will have to deal with. We just have to get through it. We have to continue to work hard and stick together and play through all our shortcomings." But it won't be easy, especially without veteran forward and co-captain Al Harrington doubtful for the next two games with a sprained left ankle. Harrington sat out Thursday's practice at Loyola Marymount, receiving treatment while his teammates worked through drills. "It doesn't feel good right now," Harrington said. "I don't know that I'll be ready before we play the Lakers (in Tuesday's home opener). It's a tough way to start the season but I want to make sure it's right before I get back out there." Looks like Marvin will get his baptism early. We shall see! Maybe I missed it, but I don't see JJ stepping up and taking responsibility, he did say he isn't excluded but there is a big difference between that and taking responsibility...
  23. Al is a hell of a player and Zsa Zsa looks like he might be a steal (although I'd like to see him matched up against a real front line before I make any decisions). But I would find it a little worrisome that your starting PG - your 70 million dollar man - had one assist.
  24. Quote: BK is not afraid to take chances, he has done it twice in this offseason alone. One, by giving 70 Mill to JJ. And two, by taking J Chill's word for it and taking Salim 31st without even working him out. BK wants a defensive Center, a guy to block shots and grab boards...Eddie Curry does not do that. I am confident that BK made the right move here because he made the a similar one at the end of last summer when he didnt throw a JJ like contract at Erik Dampier, and we all know how Damp did in Dallas last year. As a side note, it is not uncommon for a second round pick not to work out with the team that drafts him. And it's not like Salim was an unknown player - hell he had been featured in SI, ESPN the magazine, and Sportingnews.
  25. Quote: If you consider Josh Boone an NBA Center and not Nene than you don't know what you're talking about. Why because he's 6'10" and 240? Hell, Tyson Chandler is a C and he's 7'1" and 240. It doesn't have to do so much with your height/weight as how you play the game...
