  1. And I agree with the fact that good ownership willing to spend money to market makes a difference. If only Blank would buy the Hawks....
  2. I think part of the reason it sucks is because Philips isn't giving away as many tickets as they have in the past to bloat their numbers. I remember reading how our gate sales have improved quite a bit so at least they're actually making more money than before. That said, I think we just need to accept the fact that GA fans suck. The problem is people don't want to go to games during the week, think about it. Our weekend games do decent, Falcons games do fair, and of course there's UGA football. But if you look at Braves, Hawks, or Thrashers attendance during the week and it's pathetic. A superstar has to come into town for it to do good. It's just convenience for most people. I'm not gonna lie, a majority of the games I go to are on the weekend due to that same reason. I'm busy with work during the week and don't want to have to get home late.
  3. Saw them too, that was awesome! They weren't being quiet either.
  4. http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-hawks/for-hawks-scoring-starts-250717.html I've not pushed for Woodson to get rehired but that says a lot about him and his coaching staff. Not only is he thinking outside the box with this coaching concept (something I never thought I'd say about Woodson), it also looks like it's paying off.
  5. 3 out of 5 sounds about on par for the Hawks. Anything more I'll be happy, any less and I'll be disappointed. We should take at least one from Cleveland, but the Denver game will be tough one.
  6. He had to be our leading scorer because Joe completely disappeared in those games. Thankfully we have Crawford this year who should be able to negate a lot of that.
  7. I don't think anybody ever said we live and die by Josh Smith, but I think he affects the outcome of the game more than anybody. After looking at the stats, I think I'm pretty close. It really seems to be him and Al (our frontcourt) having the most affect. SPLIT G MIN FG% STL BLK TO TOT AST PTS Josh Smith In wins 19 31.5 55.000 1.79 2.47 2.1 8.5 3.7 16.1 In losses 7 30.4 40.230 1.29 2.29 1.9 7.6 3.0 12.3 Al Horford In wins 19 32.5 61.053 0.58 1.37 1.3 9.3 2.1 14.6 In losses 7 35.1 48.333 0.86 1.14 1.6 10.0 2.0 10.0 Go look at the splits for other players and you'll notice not near as much of a difference. Either way, I still think Josh is even more of a contrast then Horford when you look at FG%. When Josh's shot selection is bad (i.e. long jumpers), we don't have a good chance of winning and it showed in Chicago. The loss to Detroit is the only real game Josh played well. I know a lot of people bash Marvin for not showing up some games, but he doesn't seem to affect the game enough to have a say on the final score. He's disappeared in plenty of games we've won, but people only point it out when we lose. Josh just does so many of the things we notice so it's easy to see when he doesn't have his head in the game.
  8. Anyone else feel this way? We as a team perform well when Josh is, but we're a sinking ship when he doesn't. I think that's the main reason our record is so good this year, because of his improved play. He makes plays on offense and defense that can pump him and his team up and get them going. He looked like crap against Chicago tonight and a good game by Joe isn't going to negate that.
  9. I personally enjoy a team that constantly exceeds expectations and that's what makes me want it more for the Hawks. I felt that way for the Falcons last year but this year they have far from lived up to expectations, granted they've had injuries but even when healthy there were some games they should have won.
  10. I still think you'll get majority Hawks answers considering the board we're on. I just want the Falcons to have back to back winning seasons honestly, then we'll talk championship.....so tired of hearing that stat. It's burden, maybe a curse. Hawks are definitely closer to me and I'd love an NBA championship more than an NFL one. Like you said, Hawks are much funner to watch this season.
  11. It's not exactly like we're an all-defensive team on the perimeter. Joe by default.
  12. Cleveland distracted a stripper by saying, "The Atlanta Hawks are outside." She runs out the door to see. That was basically it, caught me by surprise though!
  13. It wasn't that bad, but it still had some similarities. It all comes back to star power and highlight ability of a player. Your average fan may only see commercials and know players through hearsay, not exactly the ones that are having good seasons this year. The voting basically reflects that. Grant Hill drinks Sprite = well known commercial and All-star appearances way past his prime. Tim Hardaway is another example that comes to mind. Him and his ugly *ss Bacon shoes.....
  14. Glad to see a more accurate figure about attendance. We're improving and it doesn't look we've been hit as hard by the economy as some suggest. We're definitely not giving away tickets as easily as we have been in the past.
  15. I don't know what he's saying but it sounds hardcore. King Zaza doesn't back down from nobody!
  16. Also take into account a lot of the international voting that goes on. They always seem to be behind at least 2-3 years with who are the current stars in the league. I remember Grant Hill getting voted in as a starter well after his prime.
  17. Chris Duhon has started every game of the season and is shooting 30% from the field. 'Nuff said.
  18. Yup I just love reading to see what Hotlanta is going to say. Usually you hear someone make excuses when they lose......he actually makes them when we win.
  19. If Roy is 14, then JJ should easily be top 20. Their numbers are identical.

    146!

And more importantly, Woody subbed him out if you noticed. Really bold move by him and I think he needs to do that more often. We went back to playing how we should after that and the blowout resumed. I will give props to Woodson on that if he continues the trend. It's on Joe to share and if he doesn't then he needs to suffer the consequences just like any other player, rookie or not.
  21. Yeah I like this. Good to see Bibby's minutes are down and especially Joe's at this point (even if only slightly). Hopefully the trend continues.
  22. As good as we are, we shouldn't have a waste of space like this around. If you are 7 feet and can't even shoot close to 50% from the field you need to pack it in.
  23. Interesting part in here about Joe: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-hawks112609&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Though it doesn't actually say what the "sources close to him" were......
  24. Exactly, its all been coming down to rebounding for us. Of course Joe didn't help, but if we had prevented just a few more chance for them and given ourselves a few more we could have had this game won.
