  1. I saw some craigslist ads for Monday's game advertising "Mike Woodson's Farewell Party". Good stuff.
  2. To make Milwaukee think he is dumb enough to use in Game 7?
  3. I've been away for a month or so, but is there even any roster space left for this guy anymore?
  4. He is only worth a re-sign if we want to attend the playoffs in spring of 2011.
  5. Whether they are suffering real cash losses or simply "book" losses is the mystery here. Many teams in many sports find ways to show a "loss" under their CBAs, but I'd not go crying for any of these owners yet.
  6. If I win Mega Millions tonight, I'll buy Belkin's share out. Then I'll put a poll up on hawksquawk regarding JJ's contract.
  7. The translation is that everything is exactly the same as it was 4 years ago, except several lawyers have become very wealthy. Very wealthy using money which could have been used to improve the basketball and hockey products the owners are supposed to care about.
  8. I agree with everything except: JPW looked like crap. His first trip to the goal line he looked over open receivers like it was his job. In one throw-away, he hit a kid immediately to my right in the head. Granted, the kid should have had better hands, but if he WOULD have, Blank likely would have thrown an #84 jersey on him. His second trip to the RZ, he locked on to the receiver from the snap (the play that Grimes picked). If I could read JPW's eyes from 3 rows up in the end-zone, it was pretty obvious an NFL DB picked up on it. In sum, if this guy makes the team, it should be as a janitor. If he ever sees the field, I think we should punt on first down. And given the dire state of our defense, that's saying a lot.
  9. NFL players pretty much have to, because their contracts are non-guaranteed. He signed a 6 year deal, but basically it is 1 year contract with 5 years of team options. If the teams don't have to honor contracts, it seems counterproductive for the players to do so. In other words, I agree with the fact that he held out (as he's certainly worth more than the ~$2 mil he was due to make), but it seems like his opinion of his abilities don't match reality. Another possibility is that he was holding out so that he didn't have to spend an extra hour at the autograph session at the Dome yesterday.
  10. No details, except that ESPN reports this makes him the second highest-paid receiver in the NFL behind L Fitz. If true, I think Atlanta overpaid.
  11. Too bad Atlanta doesn't get them in their first 10.
  12. It is kind of a shame that the home games against Lakers, Cavs (2), Magic (2), and Heat (2) are all on weeknights. At least a handful of them as a Saturday night game would have been kind of cool.
  13. You ask Atlanta fans whether their starting SF, at age 23, has more potential than a RESERVE 21 year old forward on the West Coast. Check. Unanimous Atlanta. You ask fans of Brandan's own team. Check. Almost 2-1 ........................wait a minute.....2-1 for ATLANTA?!?! This is hardly a bias. The Golden State vote is like a presidential candidate getting stomped in his own state. I'm surprised the forums went that far in Marvin's direction, to tell you the truth. The only "bias" on this board, as other have pointed out, is your irrational hate for Williams.
  14. Averages are meaningless, unless we can use genetic engineering, construct an "average" player for each team, and make them play one-on-one for 82 games. Basketball is a game of outliers/superstars, which is why there are so are so many cases of individual players taking over games. Averages, again, are meaningless.
  15. Since Odom is back to L.A. we should have the 2nd spot (and the #4 seed).
  16. They're "dead" because we're hanging around seeing if any other team has the balls to offer a contract which we'll match.
  17. I think this is 100% correct. If you are terrified of being the #3 center, enjoy Houston. Yao will play if they have to cart him out for the tip-off.
  18. Any one of my dogs could take Morris' spot on the roster. And they just lay around all day and fart. I say give Siler a chance. He can't be MORE worthless.
  19. He made his bed last offseason, now he needs to just enjoy sleeping in it. My guess is that he'll be in even less demand next offseason.
  20. Dude, you are flipping off the deep end. Are you seriously hinting that LeBron will get $8 mil or less per year next summer? If not, you are (yet again) posting without any clear point. Multiple posters have clown-stomped you on the skill/salary points, so just accept it and move on. Put down the shovel, kiddo.
  21. The account reps seemed conditioned to tell you what you want to hear first, then call you back and tell you what the actually policy is. My original ticket rep was even more clueless with my Thrashers account but they switched me to a new one who seems to have a better feel for what is going on.
  22. Multiple posters continue to bring up this point and Diesel either ignores it or qualifies it.
  23. Nah, I already asked. If you have better luck with your account rep than I did with mine, let me know.
  24. I went back and was unable to find a coherent thought in that post, which is why I was unable to fully quote said thought. I argued my point very clearly. I pointed out that 8 million per is around the average salary for an NBA starter. Expecting extraordinary performance is hardly fair. It doesn't get much simpler than that.
