I don’t have a restriction but haven’t confirmed what the package is. I expect he’ll be in the big apple very soon.

as for your second point I never got any confirmation on why he signed the extension. I heard a whisper of why he did it (LOL by him by the way) but the forum can talk about that on Tuesday

The Knicks would love to have a player like Murray, with him and Brunson I can see them doing damage against C's and Bucks but there is nobody on that team i would want but I wish we can send him to Brooklyn and they have better players and picks as well.

Kind of crazy that we're talking about maxing out "Trae's potential", when he's averaging 28 pts - 11 assists.

The question is how can the team's potential be maxed out, with Trae running the show?  And if it can't be maxed out with Trae running the show as currently constructed, what kind of help does he need.

Or if you're talking about replacing Trae, what kind of star player do you replace him with?

What I mean is that he is average 28/11 but he has a very high Usage Rate and he has to work hard on defense as well.  It can wear him out, so I think we have to maxing out the team potential while reducing his usage rate.

Is the REAL CRIME the Hawks have committed, is that we didn't select the best player available on the board each season and we're failing to draft guys that can be developed into higher level players?

@Gray Mule consistently points out that we passed on Haliburton in order to take Okongwu.  While Okongwu was a position of need for the Hawks, Haliburton was the guy projected to have the most potential and better talent.  Hali showed that from Day 1, but the Kings felt that Fox was the better choice and that they couldn't play Fox and Hali together after just 1.5 seasons  With that squad having multiple holes, they decided to trade Haliburton while his value was the highest.

I think that Haliburton's camp called us and told them to not pick him at that position because Trae was here and whatnot.  Plus he wanted to be the starting PG.

But I have to agreed that the ECF finals run was fool's gold and we decided to double down on it not trying to improve from it.  From finding another player that can bring the ball up to finding another scorer that can take pressure off from Trae (it is insane that his Usage% is so high), and other stuff.  It goes back to the question that I always ask, "How can construct a team around Trae, that is going to max out his potential, while be able to complete in this modern NBA."

Until this team figure out that puzzle, this team is going to continue spinning their wheels in the mud and it sucks.

    9 turnovers is 1-2 games for Trae..

and do you know why he has all of those turnovers because he has to deal with guys with stupid long wingspans and it is hard to position the ball correctly to pass it to the right person.  That is the reason why the first thing you learn in basketball school is always keep your arms up.

    yes to both.

I still believe Siakam is coming to Atlanta even if it is a rental. Ressler is furious at the way this season has went.

    Soth,

I am sorry, but I dont think we are going to do a "Nique for Manning" trade for this.  Right now, we are about to go against some very heavy hitters and we could be 10 games under .500 and I dont want to trade for somebody that is going to leave and we get nothing to show for it.

"There will be wars and rumors of wars, but the end is not yet."

There has been trades and rumors of trades, but nothing has happened in Hawkville.

The New Year has opened today.  There is no action with our team.  If and when something takes place, it will probably be a surprise to us, as KG01 said, it will come out of left field.  Squawk posters will be both happy and sad.  Happy with who we got and sad with who we lost.  Remember, we can't buy a month's groceries with a nod and a grin.  We must pay for whoever we trade for.  Most all NBA players ain't cheap.

    :smug:

That is right, you have pay to play.

But I think this month is going to be the most important month for the Hawks, not only for this season but maybe the next couple of years.  As of right now, this team is 13 - 19 (2 games behind Chicago) but we got to face OKC, Pacers (x2), 76ers and Magic in the next five games.  In fact, only the Spurs, Wiz, Warriors (but they will be over .500 soon) and Raptors is the only sub .500 teams this team will play this month but everybody else......If we need to do something, it needs to be soon very soon, or we will be up the creek with no paddle.

I am going to be so upset if it’s bogi.

with bogi we should have better guarantees, can’t sell Bogi for a Siakam rental in my opinion.

i would rather sell on murray for a Siakam rental just based on the fact that Bogi fits Synders scheme perfectly vs Murray who doesn’t.

You got to pay to play sometimes

I know that we hate the C's and Lakers but they are willing to take risk to ensure that they are going to be in that conversation for the Championship.  Like how the C's was willing to trade Brogdan and Smart to get Porziņģis but they are still leading in the East or when Bucks traded for Dame as well.  If we want to be in that tier of teams, we have to take risks as well.  We cant just be looking at the bottom line on financial sheet.

  8. Shakes giving out insider information?  Wow, this board has been going bananas since yesterday.

But one thing tho, I understand that Trae wants to help this team, but he might want to keep his suggestions to himself and let FO do their own thing or he might be the next person that is traded (even know that I want him to stay).

This team needs to be broken up. Keep Trae and JJ every single other player can be moved.

Yeah, I am onboard with that.

Right now, I think this game should open up the eyes of FO and understand that this team is not playoff-ready or play-in ready.

Tonight show me alot about this team and the problems with it from Murrary to Bey to Bogi and everybody in-between.  I know that we dont want Trae to play hero ball but when everybody else is sucking at shoot, you have to do something.

To be honest, seeing all of this is making me laugh

I know that this team is having problems like every other team but saying stuff like "trading Trae" (even know that he was off) or saying that Dre would have made a difference (imo, Trae would have more reboards than him) is crazy and I have to laugh.

But in seriously, change needs to happen and the Hawks is on the clock because the way they are playing, they will be working on draft position than getting to the playoffs.

They arent taking in Dre contract...When they have a better versions of Dre in Herb Jones and  Trey Murphy.. Not to mention his bad knees....

We will be trading Dre to another team if Herb Jones and Trey Murphy comes here (btw I like that trade because you will have good contacts coming here and draft pick that we can use to get another player or use it in a another trade)

At the end of the day, this team has to do something and sitting on their hands is not one of them.

I hope Trae isn't the psuedo GM. Catering to the star's wants rarely ends well. They are the worst when it comes to player evaluation and want the team needs.

I know that Trae wants this team to succeed but he can't play as the pseudo-GM, I mean he already did that and that is reason why we are in this mess right now.

  13. @JayBirdHawk The thing is we dont know who push the trade.  Was it Trae? FO? Little Nicky? Ressler?

This team need another ball handler that can help push the offense since teams was zero in on Trae all of the time and at that time, DJ was that and he was very good defender as well.

For me, soft rebuild would be my answer because this team needs to change because we don't have the right pieces around Trae and too small to deal with any team right now.

This isn’t even a question. You would trade the Hawks roster for OKC roster in a heartbeat.  It’s really not even close.

hawks don’t have anything that even comes close to the top 3 of SGA, Chet and JWill.

then u got Wallace looking fantastic for a late lotto rookie.  Dort is turning into a really solid 3 and D.

on top of that they are loaded with draft picks coming up.

OKC might have brightest future of any team In the league.

However, the thing is that the fanbase was very patience doing those down years.  Just imagine if we had that here, we will be screaming for the GM to leave and the owners to sell the team.

Even know that I hate the Thunder (not because of the players), they have a very bright future and everybody draft picks.

About Trae, I was thinking about it and even know that he wants to be the man and whatnot, I think it is time for him to have a shot-count like how baseball has a pitch count.  I will say about 11 - 15 shots per game and with 3 - 5 3 pointers (only 1 for 30+ ft bombs) and the rest of the game, just being a playmaker.
