  1. Maybe I came off a bit negative in my post, but as has been mentioned numerous times, if we are going to contend for anything, we need a superstar player. As far as 'movable contracts', those are short term and will only get you similar talent in return-not enough talent to make us contenders. As far as our rookies, Jenkins has like terrible and he's only as useful as his shooting takes him, which hasn't been very far this season. Mike Scott however has been playing well which is nice to see. I honestly have no opinion on Schröder because if I said something it would be unfair. I also liked what I saw out of Bebe in SL but I think Ferry made a mistake by sending him to Spain. Still, if your goal as a franchise is to win a championship then I'm still right. The only hope of obtaining the talent needed to win a championship right now is the Nets sucking which I did point out. Face it we're not doing anything as a franchise right now. We're fielding a team that's not ready to contend yet we haven't a)tanked or b)acquired young talent. Ferry's done a good job, but you can't say we have a good foreseeable future unless you're satisfied with 2nd round sweeps and good ball movement.
  2. The worst part for me is that we have a legitimate chance at being the 3rd seed this year and it means nothing. The only hope this franchise has for the near future is that the Nets are as bad as advertised.
  3. As for as the draft, I probably would have went the same way except that I would have attempted a trade up for Jamaal Franklin and kept Bebe over here.As for free agency, I would have made some inquiries about the prices of Hawes/Turner from the Sixers, Afflalo from the Magic, Matthews from the Blazers or Hayward from the Jazz (even though some of these players are in their contract year, they would have come cheap, as far as trade value, and helped our team out). Otherwise, I think Ferry did the best with the cards dealt to him.
  4. Yeah I know. If only players like Jenkins and Cunningham had value as potential contributors/staters. Then we could package them with Brand to get back a player of quality.
  5. Exactly why I think we need to make a trade for a SG before a center. A player like Afflalo or even as Shumpert would do well on this team. Problem is getting them here. I will concede however that Teague needs to do better getting over screens before a trade helps us in that department.
  6. Why is it wrong to expect ANY player to play better when we lose. Nobody's demanding a trade, nor has much been said that's really out of line. We are voicing our concerns about Horford because he's supposed to be the leader of the team and when we don't play well, he's the first we look to.
  7. Well for starters, we're not tanking so we'll have to hope that Brooklyn joins Utah, and Milwaukee at the bottom of the league (which I think is possible). As for the other two questions, I think some trade rumors will start popping off after Dec.15, so we'll have an idea then of how Ferry views the team.
  8. Thanks for that clarification. But the question still remains: if we make a trade, should it be for a center or SG/SF?
  9. I apologize for that statement. I read an article somewhere saying that and repeated it myself without doing any research. After a little bit of research I found that the only thing we're ranked top ten is EFG%/TS% - not a top ten defense. Even with that revelation I still don't see why we should be in a hurry to get a center next to Al, at least this season.
  10. He may not be a center, but he is averaging close to the same amount of points as last season (17.1 to 17.4) in 5 less minutes than last season while shooting 55% FG. He is also 3rd among centers in blocking I believe at 1.9 per game so he's got to be a shot blocker right? I'm kidding but in all seriousness he may not be a center but he does a heck of a job impersonating one. A bigger concern for me would be the SG/SF position. We're a top 10 defense right now (not that it means much) so why bring in a center like Asik who's a liability on the offensive end. If I were Ferry, I'd try to see what it would take to get Afflalo from the Magic. Even though he can't keep his hot shooting up the rest of the season, I think he would still play well here considering he won't be the first option.
  11. Although I can see why Horford would be mad, I don't think he should really have a problem playing center. First of all, you can make a case for him being the second best center in the league right now. If he wants a center so badly HE should have gotten Dwight (the only center better than him in free agency) down here or at least make a call. Not mad, just saying. This is really where my problem lies with him. He doesn't act like a star or diva, which is nice, but that also means he doesn't command the respect of other players. It's a trade off, but we need someone on this team that will convince someone to come here and play. Hawks fans always say no free agents don't want to sign here but what are the players doing to change that.
  12. His stats may not be great, but with his play as of late, it reduces the need for them to trade for Millsap. If anything, they need to be looking to get rid of the contacts of Lin/Asik. I have a feeling that they wait too long, they won't be able to extend Parsons' contract.
  13. Not only that, but with the way Terrence Jones has been playing this season, the Rockets may look to trade for another position or just shed salary for Parsons' eventual extension.
  14. I think we signed Brand to be trade fodder and nothing more. I think Ferry plans to unload him to a team so that they can tank harder e.g. trading for Afflalo from the Magic
  15. Great trade idea, but do you think Chicago would accept Brand instead of Williams so they can tank harder? If so, we would have a great roster heading into next season PG:Teague/Mack/Schröder SG:Butler/Williams/Jenkins SF:Korver/Carroll/Martin PF:Horford/Scott/Muscala or any scrub C:Noah/Bebe/Ayón
  16. Do you really think Embiid should go number 1. He's the best center prospect right now, but I think you could down to get him. Plus, would we have enough cap room to sign Deng? if so, that would be a great off season
  17. My point is this if you take a poor man's Hibbert: say Asik since he's a hot topic and pair him with a talent like George: let's use Durant (Iguodala and Harden don't belong on the list) you have a contender once you build the rest of the team around them. If you take Dwight Howard and pair him with Rudy Gay, that's no where near a combination like Asik/Durant. Now yes, talents like Davis and Drummond are going nowhere. But the fact remains that the dropoff in talent between George and Rudy Gay is much larger than the dropoff between Hibbert and Asik.
  18. Just looked up Hibbert's stats, 4.4 blocks, wow. But I my point, Martin may be scoring very well this season but I think that's a product of the team he's on and the role he has. Moreover, Martins defense is nowhere near George's. You put Martin on Lebron and your going to have a bad time. George is a two way player whereas Hibbert scores only 11.4 ppg this season. You can't replace a player like George as easily as you can Hibbert. Just looked up Hibbert's stats, 4.4 blocks, wow. 19. I think you make the most valid point that while both George and Hibbert have been integral to the Pacers, it is much easier to acquire a Hibbert-esque talent than it is one like George. If the Hawks give up the right pieces, we could probably land a defensive anchor in the form of Asik or Marc Gasol. Heck the Grizzlies have Gasol yet they are nowhere closer to a championship than we are.
  20. At this current moment, we need everything (go to scorer as well as an anchor). The pro- tankers have a point that to get lottery talent, one must be in the lottery. With any luck, the Nets pick turns into something nice for us.
  21. Didn't mean to insult your intelligence. Just didn't understand why the two of you were arguing.
  22. Could it be possible that both are equally necessary. It really doesn't matter who's more" integral" to the Pacers success because without either one, they wouldn't be nearly as successful and each would be hard to replace.
  23. Deron Williams went down again in the Nets-Bobcats game. They need to rest him but they can't afford to.
  24. I'd trade for either him or Wesley Matthews since we need a starting SG who can shoot. I don't want to trade a pick, but I wouldn't mind trading Lou.
  25. Other way around, we get to switch with them meaning we get the higher pick between the two of us
