  1. Yes to that part. And the point still remains... particularly in light of the "major caveat"...
  2. For what it's worth... admittedly, not much... A few years from now, I suspect the story will be told that the KD/Kyrie/Beard Nets ended up mirroring the D-Will/Pierce/Garnett Nets, ie, in terms of what they actually achieved compared to what too many had anticipated. And the other part of that story will be how the Atlanta Hawks model of relative youth and greater depth was validated as superior to models emphasizing quick fixes. Hollinger wrote that article about a week or two ago that more or less painted the same picture, so I'm not alone.
  3. Me, I'm persuaded that a deal that has these two as principals makes almost too much sense. Both teams are effectively in that same discontented boat. Now, it may be that a third team has to be involved as well. I'm just sayin.
  4. Training camp opens in just less than 4 weeks (9/28). Conventional wisdom would have Morey swinging a deal on or about 9/26.
  5. Among the biggest takeaways for me is that Ressler/Schlenk are firmly convinced that for these next few years, the actual revenue growth is going to be as stunning as has been widely-anticipated. While I'll be totally surprised if Huerter's journey isn't practically a mirror of Collins', what won't surprise me is if Schlenk sets his sights on extending Delon Wright an additional year or two.
  6. Working theory from here is that the General is holding down the fort for now, waiting for the fall out from the Simmons deal and the possibility that some opportunity emerges from that to fill his last roster seat. Hard to predict what "fall out" is reasonable, but at least one somewhat reasonable expectation is that PHI will end up with one too many players to be able to continue to keep summer league superhero "B-ball Paul" Reed. He might never amount to much on the big stage, but that's really all he has left to prove... he dominates when the opposition is G-league level. Against our SL guys, he and Maxey were more than we could handle. If you were able to custom design what you want for that 15th slot, he probably checks every box, except that it seems likely he'd be able to find a guaranteed contract out there. Meanwhile, TS makes a lot of sense in wanting to keep that slot non-guaranteed in case a mid-season adjustment... in the case of injury internally, or surprising buyout externally, or both... becomes advantageous if not necessary.
  7. Ordered you a Hawks world championship t-shirt, my friend. It's going to take a little longer to arrive. But it's coming, I promise.
  8. Ohhhhhh maaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.... this is fun. Did you know that Trae Young is no Reggie Miller?.... hehehehe...
  9. I'm a fan. But honesty forces me to admit, there were multiple occasions when Skylar seemed like he was chucking it up and hoping for the best in SL... so, yes, if that's what playing like a mad man means. That said, he still ended up with some decent stats, I think.
  10. Apparently there was some sobriety that being the #50 pick might not be especially promising. And simultaneously some love of learning and some interest to get started on the rest of his life. That's what I recall reading, anyhow. But it's probably turned out to be more promising than originally anticipated.
  11. Skylar's other basketball option was to play overseas. Conjecture would say that any overseas options evaporated or that Schlenk notified Skylar's agent that he will need to rescind the offer and make one to someone else if Skylar's not prepared to make the commitment. The half-full part of Skylar's glass is that he's a legitimate back-up if there's an injury that arises at either the PG or SG position. He's in a good place. Some might recall that the HC at LSU said after Mays signed last year that he was slightly surprised that his former player didn't choose medical school instead of basketball... the point being, that that option also is probably still fairly viable.
  12. Have to admit... I thought Malawi was a city somewhere... silly me... Good luck, brother. Hope it's a rewarding experience.
  13. Inaccurate, but I'm tired of talking to a wall on that one. Have it your way, my friend. (And I don't do public conversations anymore regardless, of course.) Give me some time to think about it, but I wouldn't totally dismiss any trade that frees us from all those big paydays that we're going to have coming at us sooner or later, and we might as well start clearing some of it off our books now so we can afford the 5 year max offers we'll be needing to hand to Jalen and to Sharife in order to keep them.

    The Next Move.

Add to the list of potential bigs who would plausibly accept Schlenk's offer of a non-guaranteed minimum contract... this not-so-old friend...
  15. Thought we'd hear this long before now, of course... https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2021/08/kevin-pangos-drawing-interest-from-cavaliers-others.html
  16. Good to see @REHawksFan perceived the implied joke. Thought I was taking @kg01's lead with the misspelling of some usernames, but maybe the green font thing is the better option. The end game? Perhaps MBASupes and theecampster would indulge us with some "breaking news" on occasion for our non-Hawks visitors.
  17. First... And second, I thought it more an exercise in entertainment, and worthy of a laugh.
  18. You know how much Schlenk values 2nd round picks, though... see his comment following the Rondo/LouWill trade. I think he'd be tempted just for the two 2nd rounders, sans Knox.
  19. Wondering if theecampster or MBASupes can confirm any legitimacy on this one................
