My guess would be that Boston goes to the ECFs against CLE.  They will lose 4-2 and Horford will average 16-12.

Hold up, hold up, hold up. Stop the presses.  I'm still stuck on this.

DJ, please please tell me that was just a slip of the finger and you accidentally included the one OR the two. And not that you're yet another victim of the great bath salts epidemic effecting so many Americans today.

There is no way in gott dayum hail Al would even sniff 12 rebounds per game. You. Cray.

If you don't get help at Charter, please get help somewhere. Or type better.

Put me in the camp for losing to CLE if I had to pick. Bad narrative for Atlanta losing to Boston again and would be expected and acceptable w/ Cle. Good for Kyle. F Al. Hate the green. End of story.

  2. I thought it was a fun game to watch. Some bad stuff from the bench, yeah, but whatever. Par for the course nowadays and I'm with @Spud2Nique in trying to get that 8th spot and play the Celtics or aim for the 7th if Cavs are in 1st. Or just fall out of the PO altogether, I don't really care. I expected this year to be a building year anyway with Horf leaving, Schro starting, and Dwight coming in. Would have loved if we got it together and kicked butt, but not that worried. We have still beaten some great teams this year and I'm just looking for entertaining games for now, win or lose. This one was competitive and actually fun to watch, unlike several other recent outings.

  3. I'm not sure on the release date and if it falls in your two-year window, but what about Deadpool? That ish was bada$$. Loved Logan too, just got beat out by Deadpool by a hair tho. I'm a sucker for the Marvel / Xmen stuff, and I went into Deadpool not expecting much but was totally blown away by how great and entertaining it was. Definitely not kid-friendly at all, but highly worthwhile. Deadpool : A++.  Logan: A+

  4. Still like Bud alright most of the time, but some of the substitutions confuse me. Not sold on Bud the GM (alright Wes, Bud the Pres) at all. And for as much as I have believed in Bud the developer of players, I am beginning to wonder if that had more to do with Snyder and Atkinson being on the bench with him. Beginning to get a little suspect in that department. I mean, WTF happened to Baze then? Idk. So, I will still give Bud the benefit of the doubt, but I'm watching you Buddy!

    Woody? Meh.

Did like LD tho. Feel like that dude got a raw deal. Understand what happened and why, just wish it didn't have to happen. Good guy. Hella some outta bounds plays. Much respekk.

  5. Wow, some how I'd missed this news until now. That's terrible for him and all ...but it's hilarious to me. I love the idea of attempts to create these super teams being thwarted BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. And Kyle is injured too, and part of me is even a little smiley about that even though I love the guy. Now i just need Deron Williams to have one of his injuries that seem to come up every three months or so and I can give the Cavs a good hearty chuckle. Maybe now is time to break out my Lebron voodoo doll .. Nah I'll wait until a little closer to the playoffs for that. After all, it's a battle of The Cavs and the Cavs Nots.

  6. I love the Ersan pickup too. I wish Dunleavy didn't have ankle sinusitis or whatever, because I think having that kind of shooting during the playoffs would really help, plus they both got good "lenth." guess we'll just have to roll with Ersan and Jose off the bench for now, which is still a big improvement over Delaney.

Any word on when Dunleavey might be back, or is he not coming back this season?

But who would take Baze and for what? Because just giving him away for the sake of it doesn't make any sense either.

I disagree with the above. Giving him away - free to good home! - makes sense. He is overpaid and we have someone else at the position who is more deserving of his salary than he is, and I would get rid of him simply for cap space. I like Baze the person. I was happy they signed him because he was a decent player, good energy and team guy, and I thought he would produce more after another year in the system, but instead he has not taken that step and arguably has regressed. At this point it would be a win to not have to attach assets to a trade including him to entice someone to take him off our hands with that salary of his.

  8. Just spitballing here, but could it be that starting Baze and having THJ come off the bench is an attempt to (1) maximize Baze's trade value this offseason ("hey, he's our starter!") while still giving him the benefit of the doubt and opportunity to turn things around and not basically dump on him and clearly lose faith by benching him after giving him that big contract, all while (2) depressing THJ's market value ("he's just a streaky bench guy!") since he's an RFA this offseason....?

i mean, being real, we are not beating the Cavs or GSW anyway, so why not consider doing these two things above which might be favourable this offseason? If starting Baze can convince some team out west (or some other team that would be unlikely to have seen him play often) to take Baze off our hands while giving us anything of value in return, that's fantastic. And maybe help us get a cheaper deal on Timmy.... Yeah, I could at least understand that.

just a thought. Not saying I agree with it, but I would understand it better than what I am witnessing nightly with Baze's terrible performance and not having some sort of subtext.

  9. I'm not familiar with that particular section, but I know that you have to be careful picking seats on the second level because if you get underneath the overhang of the third level then it changes the entire game experience

that Curry kid can shoot but man his 'beard' is an embarrassment

You ever see the Jimmy Kimmel 'Mean Tweets' NBA segment? I am too lazy to find it, but they had Steph up there reading a mean tweet someone made about him that went something like : " Steph Curry is a good basketball player and all, but his facial hair is kinda pubey." I almost died laughing. Because it's true. I guess pubey facial hair runs in the family. (Mutombo on that clip was funny as hell too, saying that if Something ever happens to the guy who does the voice for Cookie Monster, at least we have a backup voice guy in Deke LOL)

im loving the addition of Ilyasova despite the air ball or two in his first game and also despite that according to Wikipedia there is a chance he is actually a dirty f!$@ing Uzbeki (sorry, Borat reference there for all you other immature mofos).

i hope that with him and Dunleavy (get well soon) and Timmy we can surround Dwight with shooters ala a (very) lite version of that old ORL team. We shall see.

good game tonight, but let's be real - it shouldn't have been a close contest at all, our guys let off the gas. Better step up yo game, Hawks!!!!

  12. Yeah, so there is some evidence that he is actually 3 yrs older than his "official" age...?

i know this is Wikipedia, but see for yourself (this was news to me):

    Quote

Since the 2003 Turkish Junior Basketball Championship held in Konya, there has been some controversy to İlyasova's age and national origin.[28] The controversy is fueled by the claim that a man named Arsen Ilyasov, born in 1984 in BukharaUzbekistan, entered Turkey as an 18-year-old in August 7, 2002 and was never heard from again, while on September 19, 2002, a man claimed to have forgotten to register the birth of his now 15-year-old son, and did so as Ersan İlyasova, a Turkish citizen.[29] This claim, that İlyasova is actually Ilyasov and should be an Uzbek player, was officially put forth by the Uzbekistan Basketball Federation in a grievance, but FIBA ruled in the Turkish Basketball Federation's favor.[27] While this controversy was brewing, some media outlets, such as ESPN's Chad Ford, openly referred to Ilyasova as "The 17-year-old forward from Uzbekistan is widely considered the best prospect to ever come out of Turkey."[30] Other biographies, while not claiming an Uzbek birth, still maintain a 1984 birth year.[31]

not like it matters much now I guess, but 3 yrs in basketball makes some difference. But he's a rental, I know. Just sharing with the group. Carry on.

  13. I'm watching the game now on my dvr, and I'm at the end of the third and Hawks been handling the Kings basically since the jump. Then I come across this thread to find out they lost and I'm thinking y'all are joking or something. Man that's nuts. Sounds like a total collapse - like the kind of collapse that would spur a move at the deadline. Losing to the Kings should get you to realise you can't stand pat.

  14. Lou is a steal at $7m/yr for the rest of this year and next. Perennial sixth man candidate. Gets on insane runs of hitting damn near anything on the floor, especially from deep when moving to his left. And an Atlanta guy. I would welcome him back with open arms, but that's also because im partial to having Atlanta people on the roster so it doesn't feel so much like we are just cheering for jerseys. (I think if we had to have rosters with something like 50-75% from the state where your team is then Atlanta would kill most other teams. But anyway...) you don't turn away that kind of production (18.5 ppg) on that kind of a deal even if it comes from a crappy team. Depends on what they're asking of course. But you try and make something work if he is available.

  15. I have been checking in on Marcus Eriksson periodically. I had high hopes for the guy because he was so young, 6'7", and was hitting threes at a 50% clip, which is nuts. Of course he tore his ACL and meniscus before the Hawks drafted him, and to put it gently, he has not fully recovered. Not anywhere near his production from before we drafted him. I keep holding out hope, but save yourself some trouble and just put him on the back burner for awhile longer. No need to consider him any kind of real asset at this point. May have just been a flash in the pan. Hopefully he gets his stroke back, but it ain't there now, that's for sure.

Is Bud #*$&#* Moose's mom???? That's the only explanation to have Moose out there for 1 second. MOOSE IS GARBAGE!!!! BAZE IS GARBAGE!!! Splitter is never gonna play...Howard, Sap and Dennis all sucked tonight. Pretty much everybody sucked on our squad. Hyde showed up tonight!!! Jekyll perhaps next game vs Denver.

Im actually glad we lost. Only a few more games before the trade deadline. Get these deadwood deadbeats out of Atlanta.

Oh, and if Gordon Hayward played 30 minutes and scored 30 points, doesn't anybody wanna put him on his ass????

Super Bowl hangover is no excuse for losing by 25 at home..not even a back to back game. No heart bastards. Waste of time watching them when they play like ass. Smh.

Damn Spud, how do you really feel?

Might want to take an aspirin since you are getting your blood pressure up like that.

but you're right, this effort was crap. Moose lacadaisically watching a ball roll by him out of bounds. Lazy passes. Poor d (not the good D, amiright?).

Tonight we got the Bad Hawks. I guess it's simple as that. We didnt take our meds.

with the way the Jazz have been playing lately I can't say I was expecting us to win this one anyway, I just didn't think we would just let them win the game. Sheesh.

gnight, folks. It's been that kind of day for a couple of days now.

So props to see Dolf and Mrs. Dolf for I think the first time ever...and I have to point out the guy in the Steve Francis jersey. I mean...wow. I got some looks last year when I went to a game in Atlanta and wore my Shareef jersey. I kinda feel for that guy.

Not the first time I don't think... You don't remember he posted pics of him and his woman when they came to Atlanta for a game? Think it was just last season. Beforehand @Dolfan23 was asking for restaurant recommendations and such. Vaguely remember a pic of him in front of the big Atlanta sign right by Philips Arena. Not like I'm stalking the guy or whatever, just saying that there are other (clothed) pics of Dolf out there on the Squawk. The nudie ones can be found over on the unmentionable sites.
