  1. I tend to agree with @Sothronthat this is a crap move. If cap space is your asset a 1 yr rental of Lin at $12m to be a mentor is a pretty steep price to pay given other options. Especially since it further hurts us in trade negotiations for Dennis since other teams know they have all the leverage now that we are even more overloaded at PG. Sell more tickets because he's Jeremy Lin? Puh-lease. Not $12m, I promise. Not my money, but cap space could have been better utilized. Schlitz is a terrible negotiator it seems.

  2. I can see how it's tough to implement a system or plays with a bunch of SL guys just meeting each other and not knowing who they're going to play with during any given game. That and Ice Trae is such a perfect nickname after the first three SL games. 3/24 3pt is pretty abysmal considering we gave up such a good prospect for Trae. Not that I don't understand it's just SL and he is a or okie and whatever; he probably will turn it around soon. But I get it from a media standpoint. That nickname is too good to pass up, like Linsanity or Ice Teague. I'm a Hawks fan but I can give credit where credit is due in terms of funny negative nicknames for our guys, Ice Trae is a quick Classic in my book.

You had me at "hello." Lol

gotta be careful talking like that around here; might entice @Spud2nique or @kg01 to start sending PMs with pics and such.

but seriously, when are the Hawks gonna make a move? Should I just resign myself to be like @sturt and @Sothron and just not watch this season? Very underwhelming thus far in terms of FA and SL for us Hawks fans.

That could also be a pick in a very weak draft.  2019 is already a weak draft based on my preliminary look at the prospects.  I'm not sure 2020 will be any better.

I still agree with @warcore that something like a future draft pick for Faried is more likely. Schlenk seems all about future assets, and I doubt Denver is willing to just dump MPJ now only to get rid of Faried's deal. Stranger things have happened but it just doesn't seem as likely as getting a future pick.

  5. Couple of things:

    1. About trae and his size. Isn't he likely still growing? Kid is like 19. Is it not reasonable to believe he will wind up at least the same height as Steph? Serious question.

    2. About Doncic, I was disappointed too, but being realistic, I remember some Dennis fans coming on here literally saying that Delaney was the best player in Euro League, so isn't it reasonable to hold judgment to see if his skills actually translate?

I dont one have time to keep up with college, much less euro stuff, but I'm just excited to see summer league get started here soon. So I don't have much opinion one way or the other about the draft but am crossing my fingers.

also, I am losing faith in Slink pretty early into his tenure. What a boneheaded way to kill whatever trade value Dennis might have had. Sheesh. already disn't like the dwight trade. Ugh.

  6. ^ weird, none of those numbers sound right. As long as I can recall the attendance capacity has always been 15k and change. Never heard anything about 18k+ and don't understand how we could have a record attendance at around 20k with either of those figures. And the current attendance figures and percentages just don't pass the eye test.

attendance issues have been documented and discussed on here for years, but it seems to come down to Atlanta being subject to major sprawl and poor transportation infrastructure, thus making it hard to get (back?) downtown before games starting; few other downtown draws to the area; too many other entertainment options in the city; and/or white people "allegedly" being afraid to go downtown or something like that. Might be missing a few reasons.

  7. I had two half season tickets back a couple years ago in the lower bowl for two seasons. Wouldn't do it again. They discontinued the half season package (but maybe that changed again) and I just couldn't commit to a full season. if I couldn't go to a game and wanted to sell tickets, I could never get my cost per ticket back unless we were playing the Cavs, GS, or Boston. Not even close. So I would lose money and it was irritating to deal with. On top of that, when I had friends come and needed more than the two tickets in my plan, my buddies would just get on stubhub or whatever and could always find MUCH cheaper tickets than my cost per ticket under the plan. And apparently they have gone up on ticket prices, but I still don't know how much that has trickled down to the secondary market. Maybe the spread wouldn't be so bad in the 200s, but may be still bad. Plus, the having the ticket agent guys phone number was handy at times, but the guy straight up misrepresented things to me and my wife during our arena tour. Might have been an accident or whatnot, but still I was pretty upset about things and documented it on here way back in the day. All in all I had fun taking my kids and friends to the games, but I wouldn't even consider it again. It was way too expensive then (and more so now from what I uderstand) and honestly it turned out to be really aggravating trying to make it to all those games or losing money on the ones I couldn't attend. I would just get tickets for the games I really wanted to go to and save the money and trouble. Or just get a much smaller package and see how it goes; that'd be my recommendation to you. But that's just crotchety ol homebody me. And maybe you really want that jacket (which wasn't offered to me as only a HALF season ticket buyer). And good on you for trying to get season tickets to the dumpster fire. I admit you beat me out in fandom, for sure.

I'd actually prefer trade of day posts versus the beyond tiresome tank/not tank arguments. It at least gives us something different to discuss that is Hawks related.

(Hulk Hogan voice) "You got that right, brother!"

i'd make an allowance for misplaced thread topics if we could finally get a global mute button on the pro/anti tank talk. Seriously about to block some folks just for the sake of sanity. Geez.

but generally speaking I think that getting rid of Dennis would set the 'rebuild' back even further. Even if Sexton is a stud he is still going to have an adjustment period to the NBA. So would Donkey Itch  for that matter. (isn't that how Doncic is pronounced?). Hard to believe the front office is behind a decision like that given that revenues are almost certainly down substantially while they revamp the arena and the attendance is down during The Schlenk Suck era. I have been surprised before but we shall see I guess...

    Who asked for that?

Fake news, yo. @Diesel might very well be working with the Russians, comrade. I nominate @MaceCase as special prosecutor.

but yea, there is no way this trade goes down. Far too few assets going out to make this likely.

and isn't there a trade ideas forum for stuff like this? Some sort of draft forum, maybe? rules 'round here don't just get tossed out tha window just because of an ongoing tankathon, amiright?
