Yep. He's trash overall. Only people who like him like Emeka Okafor and Chris Kaman. They also hate Marvin Williams and have terribly low BBIQ.

    One star post.

dwight did exactly what he was brought here to do. Surrounding cast struggles is a different story. Had they played like average nba players, Dwight would be stomping through Alice right now with TThompson next on the list.

Baze just won a playoff game for us.  Can't remember Koncak doing that.  Baze will only get better.

I certainly hope you are right, but I'm not certain he will get better. I made the same statement to my friends last year after telling them I liked the Baze deal. Now I am regularly reminded of my statements, and that he in fact regressed. "Baze will be fine for that money."  "He will have another year in the system; he'll only get better."  Last game aside, he runs around out of control too much (hence the use of the chicken with its head cut off gif by some on this site) and takes ill advised shots, turns the ball over, misses bunnies on fast breaks, runs into the lane wildly, and hasn't shot as well. I hope he improves but I am less positive on Baze now than I ws during last offseason.

I'd say that after 2 games in Atlanta that Dwight has done a lot to get the fans to cheer for him and when he continues this level of play for the remainder of the post season I would saw his legacy is well established as a Hawk. Absolutely terrific to see and Millsap rebound in Atlanta and play the way that they did.

Dude had a solid performance tonight, particularly in the first half. And after the game he said all the right things in the presser. Seemed to be really mature, minus the giggling at Jose getting the unexpected Spanish question (which I don't really mind, i appreciate someone with a good sense of humour. it threw me for a loop for a moment when I didn't understand the words the reporter was saying there was a split second I was like "am I having a stroke or something?" Then I realized they just transitioned into Spanish without warning, no stroke. Whew.) but regardless, Dwight seems to have the right mindset (most of the time) and I still keep coming back to how nice it is to not get consistently destroyed on the glass like we used to. Very refreshing.

and yknow, that guy is a crazy specimen of a human being. His shoulders are so broad that in looking at that post game presser it seriously looks like Baze and Jose together still wouldn't have shoulders as wide as Dwight. if we'd kept Edy with his crazy long arms, him and Dwight together could travel around on the freak show circuit.

You mean, my spectacular avatar?  I sent that to HopefulH last week but it didn't make the cut.  I were sad.

This week, it's gotta be something centered on Morris' incestuous relationship with his brother.  Yeah, I went there.  It's the playoffs.

Wasn't Kief the one crying when his brother got traded without his permission? Or was it the other way around? Either way, seems like there's a good crybaby reference to be had there that could make it on a poster.

  5. Fwiw I remember hearing/reading that it was Bud, not Wes, around the deadline that refused to trade away Sap for assets. bud vetoed the quick rebuild idea, not Wes. Was a rumor that I saw on Hoopshype so take with a grain of salt.

and Bud went to meet with Dwight on two different occasions to try to get him to come here.

so not sure our current situation is all on Wes, but I get it.

Still developing concerns about Bud and actual coaching decisions, ie rotations, and perhaps player development as well. Haven't seen as much about our player development since Quinn and Kenny left. Beginning to wonder if it's just a string of bad luck or growing pains, or if we've been hoodwinked.

honestly, I wouldn't mind a big shake up.

Guessing that if we were to keep Sap into the future our bill for the front court would easily exceed eighty million starting next season with those three. With Dennis and Baze thats landing between 110 and 115 million, not even counting Tim in there or anyone else. Jeez, would be incredibly hard to fill that roster out with any quality.

I can't imagine Baze would have been re-signed. He would be playing alongside Harden in Houston.

Dwight = C and Al = PF, both starting. That was Bud's plan.

    Millsap = SF?

Koonin flat out said on an interview on 929 a few months back that the was the plan. D8=C, Whore=PF, Sap=SF. No hesitation. No stuttering or anything resembling spin. Flat out said that was the plan. If I was techie I would go dig it up, but he said it. Straight from the horse's mouth. until I see or hear anything different that is better evidence, I gotta take the man at his word.

Then Karl Mal.... Er, Alice screwed that plan up and now both the Hawks and the C's are floundering. Thanks, dickhead.

and to be honest, I would have liked to see that. Maybe it would've worked, maybe not. But I would love to see it just to know.

especially since it also would mean that Baze would be playing in Houston right now. It's fun to dream sometimes.....

Anyone seen Dwight Howard?  Man what a great signing.  Millsap already has one foot out the door, too.  This team is abysmal all the way around.

Like the guy but might not be the worst thing in the world

I can care less about how anyone feels about this post. His rotations are beyond ridiculous, and allowing Bazemore to repeatedly squander our lead should be enough justification for demotion. He needs to focus 100% of his time on coaching and development. Watching Prince on the bench during the final 3 minutes of the quarter made my blood boil. And Dwight needs his butt kicked! Dudes soft!

As to the bolded: maybe for another team. Retarded coaching decisions in this one. Just inexplicable. And he can take Baze with him.

  10. Looks like CHI is taking it to BOS. Just started the 4th quarter and Chicago up 12.

I really wanted to play Boston and ruin their *glorious* #1 seed season. Although them getting wiped out by a #8 seed would still be pretty good for me. I would take it.

edit: I recognize that beating Was is goal no. 1, but even if we lost but Boston lost too I would see that as a silver lining.

  11. Dunno. I became a fan in the 90s so I think it'd be a cool idea, but worried about throwing off what little mojo we might have. I vote just keep doin what you're doing, Hawks. Just my $0.02.

PS no throwback blue unis during the playoffs, we are like 1-9 in them

To me Dwight is a match up nightmare in the right situation. Against Tristan Thompson, gotta, Zeller, amir Johnson, Whiteside, Turner he is going to be a major asset. Against a small stretch center.... Not so much and he should ride the bench more.  He is an important piece, that when used in the right situation, is a game changer.

I don't get all the hatred.

Exactly. Some don't seem to realise that we finally have an answer for the Cavs and TT with Dwight and also other less bruising teams with our small ball bench rotation. But I'm glad we have the options now. And at least I dont have to to fear the Cavs outrebounding us by 20 now that we have Dwight (*ahem*like with Al*ahem*), and we have the other tools to match up with most other teams if we need to put Dwight on the bench. Flexibility. Adaptability. I'm with @Spud2Nique in being pretty optimistic about the playoffs, although I didn't want to face WAS. But that matchup isn't terrible, and I feel like with the other teams we may face down the road we actually have a realistic shot this year in the Eastern Conference, much unlike years gone by when the writing was on the wall.

Seems like an appropriate time for a flashback. Our first game against the Cavs this season sent them a warning that hopefully remains in their heads to this day. What happened in the playoffs against them last year with rebounding won't happen this time if we meet. Dwight=17 rebounds and Tristan=2 rebounds in that game. We have a physical option now that we didn't have last year. Add some young guys and our on and off again (need to be really on) three point shooters in Tim, Ersan and yeah even Moose and we have some balance here at the end of the year.

What's the word on TT btw? How long is he supposed to be out? Anybody know offhand?

I think the Pacers mad under achieved this season.  Top to bottom I thought by they had a top four roster in the conference.  Never put it all together.  I think they are going to miss out on the playoffs and get used to seeing them in the lottery for a while too.  Especially once they lose Paul George.

Pacers worst offseason loss may have been Vogel. Didn't understand the decision to not bring him back. Got nothing against Nate Mac, and he might be able to get them playing better next season, but Vogel did pretty well with them during the Time when George was down or recovering from the leg break.

Also agree that the future doesn't look good for the Pacers since it's being reported that George is determined to go to LA after next season. About to have to pay Teague a lot of cheddar, and George having one foot out the door makes for a hard time trying to bring in solid vet help. Future definitely a little iffy for the Pacers.

And George apparently being so deadset on going to LA makes Butler the primary offseason target for the Hawks. maybe would trade something for a year rental of George, but not nearly what I would give up to get Butler.
