I put him on ignore after the first couple months of last season when I realized he was just a broken record out to antagonize people instead of contributing. Board has been a lot better since then.

I'm pretty chill but I don't know how he hasn't been banned or at least suspended yet. It's like Hawksquawk has been flooded with a sea of annoying since he got on his antitanking bonanza a year or so ago or whatever. I just saw where he was specifically warned in another thread to drop it and he's still been at it. Anyway, I don't personally have to worry about it anymore. F(orget) that guy. Back on track....

I think the Hawks could surprise some people as far as their record and how they play against good teams, especially later in the season. Not like I expect them to take the east or anything, but the east is really weak and the Hawks have some scrappy hungry guys.

I have no respect for anyone who supports tanking.  Bottom line.

Yeah. We heard. All nine million posts about it spanning months and months. We get it. We all know your opinion. No need for any more refreshers. It's been old for awhile, hence so many people referring to you in some regard as continually beating a dead horse. Most people would take that as a clue to stop saying the same old thing over and over again. I hate the idea of having to block people, but it gets to a point where it's like what Steve Holman said, "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!" Not sure if you are [ ~lw3]ing or what, but enough is enough already. It really drags the site down. You seem mostly like a bright guy, so I don't know what your deal is, but stop already. Every thread does not need a tanking discussion. It has its own thread just for you. Have at it, just in that thread. Not every single one.

Glad Stinger is still rockin the clean shaven look. That spotty fungus looking thing he had going on for several years was tough to watch.  Always loved the analysis, just not that look.

  4. Damn, somebody get @kg01 some pot lollipops cuz dude is about to stroke out over this. Seriously though, I get that there is history with Hawks MLK day games and all, but let's be real, MLK wasn't dreaming about Hawks basketball. Heck, even many Hawks fans right now aren't dreaming about Hawks basketball. The team is fairly embarrassing to watch right now, and that's coming from a fan. Let Adam Silver keep on with his best Nosferatu impression and let us focus on getting the Hawks halfway respectable before we start trying to present them nationally. I get that the games are tradition and maybe that will even continue this year, but let's not worry about televising one of our (possibly) ~70 losses across the nation. Just sayin

  5. Seriously welcome. Getting a couple Monday Night brewskies during the game put a brewsin' on my wallet. (See what I did there?) I would seriously hit up Taco Bell with the kids before the game to safe on big dolla dolla billz at the Arena. May rethink now... Good move, Ressler.

    Not recalling this one... Koufos?

Thought there was a week or two like a season or two back you were crushing on him. If not, my bad. Maybe I am confusing him for some other tall white balding Jewish NBA player you liked ...  Or maybe it was some other squawker.

    Anyways

  7. Too bad we couldn't also get @sturt's man crush Koufos on the team as well. SAC East, baby! .... Oh, wait... Barf

i am good with it. I enjoyed the McGrady and Brand signings as well. VC is better.

guess we are not full on tanking this year too, or am I seeing things incorrectly? Still not blowing away the GSW, but still seems like blatant tank is off the table...? Just a semi hard tank, amiright?

  8. I am coming around on Lin if we can really get him long term and he really lives up to the high expectation of being such an amazing mentor blah blah blah, one of those 'eh F it, we are tanking, let's just focus on the foundation' approaches. We will see, hope Lin can be effective for Lin as a mentor at least.

  9. Meh... Doesn't move the needle much but honestly was hoping for some more tomato cans (for you boxing or wrestling fans out there) since we are still aiming for a high lottery pick, right? I hope Len gets with the program this year and misses every rebound and  put back, but next year plays for real. I'm not really for a losing mentality, but since we are already here... May as well own it. Moving the needle (slightly) in the wrong direction. Normally would be fine with this signing, but in this particular year would prefer Kaba or even *gulp* Jock Lawndummy.

If it results in Lin being the perfect mentor for Trae, a great veteran locker room presence for the Young'ns, a valuable on-the-floor/bench player/coach with extremely high BBIQ and work ethic, who may possibly re-sign for cheap as our longterm backup and possible future assistant coach, then I'll be able to get past the minutiae of the trade. Schlloyd has already earned my drafting respect, hope Riley helps the trade negotiations going forward.

Right. I guess if Lin turns out to be The Man and The Future or STTE then it will be worthwhile. It just seems difficult to believe that this was the best return for taking on even a year of large salary for an oft-injured, not incredibly productive player (on the court), even if he is THE work ethic magic man he is reputed to be. But hope springs eternal for us Hawks fans. Here's hoping we just traded for our future head HOF coach. .... Skeptical, but hopeful.

I say the book is still out.   I have to wait to see his followup move.  If this is all there is, then I agree.   However, what this move does do is make it possible to move Dennis without having to look for a PG who can run the offense.   Also, it gives Schlenk a player that he's comfortable with.   Some of you sneer at the work ethic thoughts... as if any player you bring in has a good work ethic??   Does Minny make a mistake bringing in Randy Moss and then overpaying Chris Carter to stay with him??  Sure they could have gotten James Jett for a whole lot cheaper.  However, would Jett have taught Moss about taking care of his body?  Would Jett have taught Moss about being a professional?  Would Jett have Flown Moss and all the QBs of Minny to his workout center and had them work on timing together?

I have a wait and see here.

Still not seeing it. We could get a reasonable backup with a good work ethic for MUCH cheaper, maintain cap space, and get the guy a Tony Robbins-level life coach on the payroll to follow up on the work ethic stuff. I don't know about Lin and his work ethic all that much - maybe he is some gurus but I have my suspicions, but it Seems like Lins work ethic is being grossly overstated. I get the argument that there is a trade exception or whatever that cap was talking about but that seems like a red herring argument because we also lost a lot of leverage. Plus we are tanking this season so if we have to wait a few months to get a solid backup after moving Dennis it's not the end of the world; there's no rush or anything and we actively lowered or position of leverage in future negotiations for Dennis.

Seems like Schlenk is making a verb of his name.

    Websters would say something like

Schlenk (verb): the act of making unnecessary losing or negative deals in trade negotiations. (E.g. "I have a feeling our boss is going to Schlenk this deal.") See also, Schlenked: to be on the receiving end of negative deals made by another person making decisions for a group or organization. (E.g., "Man, the Hawks got Schlenked again!")
