  1. I don't know how much convincing that would take, but yeah I agree
  2. Ok the real truth is Moose looked at our ownership and said he would not sign with us, but this team in Spain looked like a better franchise...LOL.
  3. Yea I saw that at the G positions. Looking at it on the surface it is a funny (and scary not in a good way) chart. It will make for a year to remember one way or the other though...lol.
  4. Wait! I want that 50 guy..Salah Mejri...dude was blocking shots and dunking on everyone! GO GET HIM DANNY!
  5. So I was just poking around ESPN and saw our depth chart here....http://espn.go.com/nba/team/depth/_/name/atl/atlanta-hawks Does anyone else seem to think it looks funny or odd? 4PF, 1C, 2SF, 3SG, 3PG. The graphic just makes me wonder how they are building this team on the front end. It is like sometimes they will roll out 3 PF to hack-a-(insert name here), or something. It just looks funny.
  6. JR, before he had knee surgery, who saw that coming. All I was asked was what I wanted to see happen. To quote what was said earlier people just don't really want to sign with us (we all know the reasons). Evans/Iggy would have been nice since we lost out on so much, we had and have money to spend, but again this ownership is afraid to get close to the luxury tax, and overpays backups. I really would have like for us to NOT fill up on PF like we did and forget C, SF, and SG. I will watch this team because I am a fan, but I am confused on how it is built, what is expected, and where it is going. I am also wondering about the chemistry, gameplan, and point output from what we have stockpiled.

    Is this our SG?

Actually I can shoot the rock pretty damn well, my handle isn't very good though, lol. My point was our SG depth is terrible and I would find it difficult to accept anyone who says anything else. We have 1, yes read that again, 1 decent SG. And don't get me started on SF. Pretty stupid to think I was being serious.
  8. Ok so I will give a short list of some player I would rather have had and I will leave out D12 and CP3... C - Bynum, Pekovic SF - Brewer, AK SG - Evans, Smith, Iggy Now I am not fighting that we got Carroll, but there were a lot of really good options out there and I feel we let many of those pass us by in areas of need.
  9. I can see where you might be happy about making moves to change the team, but I don't think we did a very good job at replacing the losses, filling needs, and bringing something the fan base wants to see. I am still concerned about the scoring on this team if there is a cool night shooting. I am also concerned a little about chemistry as there is almost a whole new team. I do NOT like what we did this offseason at all, but I do like that we at least tried. The bright spot for me was Schröder. Everything else is a yawn at best.
  10. Ok this may be true but sadly it is about the only real news about the Hawks coming out. Rarely does SI, ESPN, or any of the other reliable sources ever talk about this team...unless it is to say we are reasonable contender for the 6th spot....here http://nba.si.com/2013/07/25/nba-free-agency-matt-barnes-nate-robinson-elton-brand/2/ Altogether, Brand’s signing is just one of several moves that make the Hawks a reasonable contender for the East’s sixth seed, all made without compromising the team’s financial flexibility.
  11. I would actually say that the ownership and franchise is a joke. Atlanta isn't that bad, I have spent time there and it is not my favorite city, but it is by far not the worst in the nation that has a team. Atlanta fans USED to be into basketball...remember a guy named Dominique? It is the ownership.
  12. Ok, but the point to it was based on what was heard AT THE TIME was that we weren't involved. I did say I know it came out later that we were.
  13. Hey Minute Bol played minutes and he REALLY needed to add some weight. I say keep him here although it seems we are sending him back to Spain.

    Wing options

I say they have an open tryout for everyone on this board. Would probably be about the same talent level as what is left...LOL!
  15. I will leave this here about number 1. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1721000-greg-oden-narrows-choices-down-to-the-miami-heat-and-new-orleans-pelicans Number 2 was a radio report from ESPN that left the Hawks off of the list that attended the workouts and there was zero mention he was working out for us. I will admit that came later, but again it seemed like an afterthought. Number 3. He nor his agent have made mention he was seriously considering us. Refer to the article above. Like I said I drew educated conclusions based off of past history, trends, and what was being reported and how it was reported. As a side note Jennings was traded from MIL today to the Pistons.
  16. Hey I go by what I have read, heard on ESPN, and make educated assumptions on those reports. I am okay with being wrong I am not okay with hiding my face in the sand and saying this team is anything other than mediocre at best if everyone plays at the top of their levels. I have accepted this franchise is a joke. Does that mean I won't be a fan? NO....but I am not going to be all roses, sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns. Not one talk or report has been we are even close to being a favorite like NO or MIA. Not a single report has really even mentioned us on anything BUT blogs. Sure the team has been thrown out there, but more like an afterthought than a serious consideration...like every other FA of worth this offseason.
  17. Look after this offseason failure I am not buying into we are getting Oden. Would I love it? Sure! But this offseason has proved that until further notice this franchise is not a locale anyone wants to go to UNLESS they are getting overpaid. I love the Hawks, but this offseason has been a total loss in my book. I think the only reason we are mentioned at all is that he worked out for us. But let's be real, the Heat are interested and willing to spend money and as much as anyone would like to admit, the possibility of getting a ring for a little less money will ALWAYS be at the top of the totem pole followed by a huge pay-day. I would love to see what we are offering in comparison to NO.
  18. http://www.hothothoops.com/2013/7/22/4547210/heat-are-favorites-to-sign-greg-oden-or-marcus-camby-with-decisions and of course the Aldridge for Horford trade rumors with some Oden mixed in.... http://www.sportsworldreport.com/articles/18727/20130726/atlanta-hawks-rumors-lamarcus-aldridge-trade-al-horford-portland-trail.htm
  19. I honestly do think he is. As long as this ownership is a joke in the NBA he is handcuffed by the reputation, lack of willingness to even think about the luxury tax, and uncertainty of the future of the ownership (remember this team WAS sold at one point recently).

    Is this our SG?

I did too, and to be honest he is probably better than any SG we have on the roster right now...wait, I am probably better than any SG we have on the roster right now, and I am almost 40 with spinal surgery.
  21. Oden said the only 2 teams he is considering is NO and MIA. In fact, when it was reported about teams that had serious interest we were left off that list (only a few websites listed us). He has never said he was seriously considering ATL at all.
  22. I think we were honestly interested, I just think Oden told them he wasn't going to sign in Atlanta and we walked away.
  23. With the signing of the Mexican kid today I am not sure he will be with us next season. It would be nice to let him develop in a season of obvious futile building. Let him and Schröder play, why not, we can't be any worse with them, in fact we might be better.
  24. What scares me is that Horford will most likely not want to come back since it is obvious the ownership doesn't care if he doesn't want to play C. Teague asked us NOT to sign him, which means next FA he will be gone (unless we build a winner). We can't get any real players to come here, what makes us think that will change anytime soon? The ownership is a joke to the rest of the NBA. Ferry is handcuffed. And let's all be really honest. We lost out on every major FA we pursued. We are stuck overpaying backups and hoping they can keep shooting well. This team needs new ownership, a better image, and a commitment to its current players they are getting better. With the signing of the Mexican guy today it pretty much means the Oden rumors of not considering the Hawks at all are true, and Nogieura won't be playing for us next season is also true. We have what 10 players under contract and half of them are PF...I just don't get it at all.
  25. I approve of this message. People are either blind to the fact NO ONE really wants to be here, and really the only people who will come are people we overpay for. This kid is not very good. His highlights are a 16/6 night...there are people out there that this is their LOWLIGHT...why are we excited? I am just not buying this team nor the moves. We need a playmaker, and we just don't have that at all. I hope we lose a ton of games so we might be able to get one.
