The Pelicans have a better shot than us? What?

Real quick which future are you talking about? The 1st or 2nd round exit from the playoffs for the forseeable future? Or the non lottery draft picks we trade away? Or maybe the one where we sign a bunch of role players....just for clarification.

Yea they are two of the big three for us...now all we need is New Owners.

This is the problem with the team and us as fans. We have been sold into this flexibility thing and continue to put out a middle of the pack team. The teams set the market price for good players. The Hawks refuse to pay for any difference maker and will continue to look for values. Teams seem to be able to take a chance on big names and recover if they bomb out. Not the Hawks, we have to maintain flexibility.

Yes because Flexibility has the ability to score on the wing, rebound, and play solid D....so glad we kept that guy Flexibility.

No he might be right...all the good players will be gone we will get some middle role players like Thabo and told we have greatly improved the team, then make it to the 1st or 2nd round of playoffs....rinse...repeat....so on and so on....and dont give me the Spurs model thing...Duncan was a number 1 pick.

We will sign Jeff Adreian, Bernard James, and some other people and told they fit the team....

I agree, but it is getting really really annoying watching all of the other teams win a title in my lifetime and my Hawks not even sniffing one. I am not going to stop being a fan, but I am also not going to sit here and say I am completely happy with this team. I enjoyed this team more this past season, but the end result was the same. Is it wrong to want more for the team I support? Is it wrong for me to want excitement? Is it wrong to want the Hawks to be considered a great team?

Oh TV can be terrible I agree. But also remember Tim Duncan was a number 1 pick overall. When was the last time we had that kind of star? Wilkins? I would love for us to win a championship and I don't care how they do it. But they need something more than they have.

Oh I agree the landscape of the NBA is comical. It has been for quite some time now. I am mostly venting on just where this team stands in the eyes of the NBA and its fans. Now I hope they can change the team for the better. But I want excitement, I want something tangible, I want to stop thinking this team is a 4-8 seed most years with almost no hope to get out of the 2nd round of the playoffs. I want to turn on the radio and actually hear something good about this team, not just a side note.

Thabo was pretty good a few years ago, but it looks like he is in a decline. Same can be said about Deng. I am not saying I know more than the GM, but let's be honest here. When a big name, superstar, quality player is in FA, most of the time we aren't even in the running to get him. I am glad Ferry was able to dump contracts and get some cap space. But what exactly is that money going to? I love the Millsap signing, but after that we are pretty much non factors in FA. I guess my point is this team just does not get talked about. Nothing. It really is like the grandma saying they try hard, bless their hearts when we are talked about. This team needs something to be excited about. Accepting the status quo just isn't working. The frustration of us fans needs to be known, not shoved aside with saying, we'll get them next year. I have watching this team for a long long time, and it hurts and is maddening to be just a side story in the NBA.

I love the Hawks, but there is just no excitement around this team unless you are a die hard fan. I was listening to several radio shows and every time they wanted to make a point about FA and where people will sign several of them would state, "It's not like they are going to the Hawks or the Bucks." I mean where is the talk about this team? We have NO superstars, none (Horford isnt a superstar, he really only gets talked about by Hawks fans, and once in a while we get the oh yea he is a good player comment nationally). Only the Kings have a longer drought of not winning a title, and only 3 players since 1980 drafted by this team was an all-star....Willis, Rivers, and Horford (Remember Wilkins was drafted by the Jazz). Have we really become the punchline in the NBA? It never seems like we are ever getting considered for signing a big name player, we seem to piecemeal a team together every year, and we are stuck in this middle of the pack treadmill for what seems like 30 years. I would love for us to sign some good players to this team. I would die happy if this team made it to a finals. But after watching yet another offseason where we are a punchline and some really bad signings and rumors of signings I am not sure they are wrong about us. Just one great season please....just one.

OT. Companies will want to keep profit margins and therefor will either let some people go causing lost jobs and replace them with machines, or they will increase the cost of goods to maintain it. Either way just simply raising the minimum wage does not mean it will keep up with the cost of living.

Any way you look at it, unless something crazy happens in FA we are at best the 4th best team in the East, at worst 9th. It all depends on injuries and if some of the big stars head west...I would love for us to get a big name player, sadly that probably won't happen, and I could even see the Heat becoming better. The big 3 have opted out and Bosh and Wade have said they will take much less money to keep all 3 there and get a better team around them...I really wish we could just get that one real star to make this team relevant again.

Based off my prediction earlier this week, I think we will go after a few stars, not getting a top flight FA, we will piece together some middle of the pack team. Ferry will say that we have to be patient, we have a good team, etc etc. We will then fight for a 4-8 playoff spot. Come the draft next year we will get a foreign player to stash, maybe a PF in the first...then the process starts all over and we have a repeat of this and last year. I so hope I am wrong, but heck I went through several articles about the top 20 FAs and not one...not ONE, mentioned the Hawks as having a chance at any of them...god I hope I am wrong.

I would love that...but I thnk neither really wants to play in Atlanta. I would...it is the East and with Horford it would be a nice big 3...but the way the las 10 years or so have gone I doubt it.

I would love if we made a splash, but it seems superstars don't really want to play in Atlanta. My guess is, we miss out on the big name superstars and piece together a middle of the pack team again...I hope I am wrong, but history is on my side for being right.

Here is my prediction.... Ferry will go after some big name guys. All of them will sign somewhere else and he will piece together a middle of the pack competitive roster fighting for a playoff spot somewhere between 4-8. He will then talk about how we are building the right type of team and be patient. He will then head into next years draft in the middle of the draft and take a PF or a stash away for a year or 2 type player along with a foreign born player to see if they work out in the 2nd. He will then go after big names in FA....wash and repeat.

I like the players just not the positions. I think we needed different wing help which we didn't get. I think this was a middle of the pack draft at about a 5 or 6.

Willis, Deke, Augmon, heck at this point I would take Malone.
