I am not a Falcons fan (although I am a Hawks fan), but I write for a Cowboys blog on Fansided. I just did a mock draft that gets published tomorrow. I have the Falcons taking Mack. It makes the most sense for their needs and it instantly helps this team in covering the flats as well as a pass rush.

I like the starting point for sure. Without elite talent though this is about the ceiling for a team like that.

Good win against a Pacers team that has been really really bad lately. I like that we won, but sad at the same time. I really want a lottery pick.

While it would be cool that all of our games would be televised in prime time so the nation can watch the Heat destroy us, I just wish we had some kind of a draw on this team. We need one elite talent that would bring others here. So if they make the playoffs I just want us to get swept so we as fans don't have to sit too long to watch this team lose in the first ound.

Sure we can. Sadly it would take a lot of change and being bad for a season or 2. What they need to do is bring in an elite talent. Be it in the draft or in FA. As it stands we have been to the playoffs for a while now and still no one wants to come here. Part of the problem as we all know is the ownership, but there isn't a lot of pieces here an elite talent wants to play with. Right now there are MAYBE 2 pieces here. Horford and Milsap. While I like Korver and maybe if Schröder can develop there just isn't the piece of a Wade to bring in a Lebron....etc etc. Somehow, someway they need to get an elite talent and everyone knows it.

Never even sniffing a finals has depressed me as a fan...just saying.

Not strange...maybe the staff and players realize what we did at the start of the season. Do NOT get into the playoffs and get a real star if you can in the draft. Sadly, it was a little too late in the season, but I will still take a top 10 pick any day rather then a sweep in the first round of the playoffs.

I hate to say it but man I hope we keep losing...I want at least a chance for a high pick. Being an 8 seed and a first round blow out is not going to help this team at all.

So the first half will never happen, it is all about money and there is no way the NBA would ever want to lose a team from a major market. The second point is valid, I hate watching teams tank, but until there is a change to the system in a real way it will stay. When the collusion started happening the NBA should have stepped in and stopped it, however since it didn't we get teams trying to pull the three big stars away from other teams. If you are not one of those? Well, you are probably not going to be a contender. It is a shame, it sucks, but it means under the current structure you do what you have to in order to win, and right now that is lose. We need to hope the Hawks either lose and miss the playoffs OR they get a miracle in the draft. You need that ONE superstar in order to entice the others. You don't get all three in free agency. Every team starts with that ONE guy in the lottery and then gets people to want to come. It is why we are stuck in mediocrity, we don't really have that one exciting guy that others want to come play with. While I love Horford and Milsap was a great pickup, they are not a Dwayne Wade, Paul Pierce, Kobe, KD, Griffin...those are the guys (or were in some cases) that the others want to play with. So until they fix the NBA. I hope we lose out and get into the lottery AND make a good pick in that lottery.

No one really wants the 8th seed, let's be honest. As much as it hurts the only way the Hawks can get out of having to lose in the first round is just do obvious tanking and lose every single game from here out.

This team was never built with the idea they had a great defense. When Horford went out, much of the defense went with him. They did overachieve earlier this year. The best thing this team can do is tank to miss the playoffs. Horford's injury (mind you his second of the same type) is unknown how he will recover and if he will be his former self. This team has lacked defense for a while now, and they need to improve that this offseason. As much as I would like to keep Horford, it might be time to look at some serious trades this offseason.

OK I am all good with trying to see a silver lining, but have you ever looked at the Hawks objectively? I don't mean to be rude, while it is endearing you are so committed to this team, every time I see you post it is all sunshine and roses.

OK I'm going to be the smarta--. Who I would like us to go after? Howard/Monroe JAMES! A center that can rebound and defend the paint for the love of god! What I think will happen? We will go after some players, they won't really want to sign here, so we get the scraps and trade bait...wait are we talking about next year or this? Eh, whatever same thing either way.

Could be if they perform. If they don't it could mean we need to add players.

He turned down an extension at the beginning of the year. And I am making this statement with what I saw this offseason. Not even Teague wanted to be here. Big time Free Agents don't want to be in Atlanta. Now I am not sure if it is the ownership, the build of the team, I don't know. But turning down an extension AND not being able to land a big name at all....well if it looks like a duck.

See here is the thing. I would watch and root more knowing the direction of the team. If we are terrible but rebuilding I could get behind the Cinderella thing. If we are competitive I could get behind that too of course. But putting a scrappy product on the floor to stay middle of the pack over and over? Honestly? I don't think he would have stayed anyway. I think he would have used that as a basis for any offer from other teams.

I root for the Hawks to get a good player, what is wrong with that? I don't want to root for a barely watchable game, I don't want to root for a middle of the pack 1st round loss, I want to root for a good roster.
