  1. What you mean "tore it down"? Curry and Thompson are future Hall of Famers. Durant is a Hall of Famer, Green will get Hall of Fame consideration. They won a chip without Durant, so losing him wasn't catastrophic. They never tore it down. All they did was replace their role players. The Hawks only have one potential Hall of Fame player on the roster.
  2. His reputation as a defensive player. It didn't work Nate. Just put in AJ and see if he can knock down some 3s.
  3. Nate goes small, and inserts J Hol in the game. Let's see if this works out. Then A Hol comes in. No AJ.
  4. Poole and Thompson have all of Golden State's points. Get it back Trae.
  5. Of course, the Hawks miss their last 5 shots after I say this. @JayBirdHawk . . I know . . I know
  6. Donovan Mitchell with 71 points tonight . . went to the line 25 times. If they called every time Trae got hit getting into the lane, he could have this many FT attempts in a game at some point. I think his high is 20 FTs.
  7. Hawks better stay red hot from 2, if they're going to give up all of these 3 point shots. So far so good, from a FG% standpoint.
  8. Prayers to Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills, who collapsed during tonight's game vs the Bengals.
  9. There are going to be a lot of people that will be jealous of the Warriors ball movement in this game. It is what it is. They move the ball to create opportunities. We ISO and let our guards create opportunities. Let's play our style better than they do theirs.
  10. Don't forget to shoot the ball Trae. I don't want to see any stretch in this game in which you don't at least take 5 shots in a quarter. I need "superstar mentality Trae" from now until we right this ship. 30+ pts - 10+ assists should be your nightly goal. By any means necessary.
  11. Of course if I'm Toronto, I'd laugh in my face if I offered that . . . unless they just want to blow it up and start over.
  12. Eh . . . I like Josh Hart and his toughness. But we don't need to get smaller. We need to get bigger. If I'm trading Hunter, I'm trading him for a guy just a big or more versatile than what Hunter gives me right now.
  13. I don't think it's panic time yet. But when that time comes, go get a guy who can function within any offense, and even be a #1 scorer at times. With the trouble that the Raptors are having these days, this guy could be a very good target to pair with Trae and Dejounte I would give up Collins and Hunter + 1st to get this guy.
  14. And I'll say this about the Highlight Factory squad. They were MUCH MORE athletic than this group, and had the tendency to play excellent defense at times. Everybody but Bibby could defend. And to me, Trae is a more active defender than Bibby ever was. Josh Smith in a 1 - 4 pick and roll with Trae would be outstanding, especially with Smith's ability to make the pass to an open guy. Al Horford in a 1 - 5 pick and pop with Trae, could lead to a plethora of open looks for Al. And the ability to give the ball to JJ in crunch time, to either make the play himself, or throw it out to a wide open Trae, would be lethal as well. Even Marvin Williams was more than solid, and at worst, equal to DeAndre Hunter. And we had 6th men like Flip Murray and Jamal Crawford providing offense off the bench.
  15. This is a low risk offense that keeps the ball in the hands of its best playmakers. Running an offense like this promotes low turnovers, as well as isolation, pick and roll, and catch and shoot opportunities. If you want an offense with quality touches, we'll have to go away from the heavy pick and roll sets that we run, and have more people touching and passing the ball. There's a double edged sword in that though. You'll get more ball movement, but you may not get better quality shots. You also may get more turnovers. When you run a ball movement offense, your players have to be able to make the correct or easy pass that leads to points. When you look at the Hawks, our leaders only pass the ball 48 times per game ( Trae 48.3 passes and Dejounte 47.9 passes ). With what I listed above, and hardly any secondary movement of ANY player off the ball, this is no surprise. Here are Trae's passes per game since he's been in the league. 2018 - 19: 55.3 2019 - 20: 53.3 2020 - 21: 55.3 2021 - 22: 51.5 2022 - 23: 48.3 I'm going to leave this right here, because there is A LOT of interesting numbers about the Hawks as a team. I may start a separate thread about this.
  16. The same thing happened in the Chicago game. The Bulls scored on all 7 of their final possessions. And the one time they did get a stop, they got the offensive rebound and still scored on that possession.
  17. We were missing 2 main parts. The lob threat was gone without Capela in the game and with JC in foul trouble. And Hunter is normally good for 15 ppg. We scored 121 points. The Hawks are 13 - 4 when we score 121 points or more. Last night is the wrong time to be complaining about the offense, because we scored more than enough points to win the game. But we lost because we couldn't get stops. And that's because our 2 best defensive players were out, who also can score.
  18. Good post. And Harden misses those Houston strip clubs.
  19. Once again . . tonight, the offense wasn't the biggest issue. We scored 121 points and shot 48% FG. The 3 point shooting was low. We shot 89% FT. But you can't give up 130 points and expect to win the game. I'll have to agree with @Sothron. With Lebron having it going like that, we may have been better off doubling him and hoping the role players couldn't get it done. I think that may have led to Westbrook having a big night. But at least Lebron wouldn't have killed us. JC being in foul trouble was a huge reason why the defense was so bad, especially from a paint perspective. These are the reasons why we lost.
  20. We scored 121 points. The offense was not the biggest issue tonight. In the last 3 quarters, the Lakers scored 39 - 36 - and 32 points.
  21. Hawks need to add an "energy big" to this lineup. We have an open roster spot. In a game like this, when we already have our best big and best wing defender out, we could use an energy big in the game.
  22. You just can't keep blindly blaming everything on Trae with the defense, when we couldn't get stops with Trae out of the game. Nate just said it . . we needed to play big bodies on Lebron. Lebron stayed on the perimeter and attacked. When we put a smaller guy on him, he attacked the paint.
  23. Maybe in a game like this, you keep Jalen Johnson in at the 3 for defense, and let him be out there with Collins and Okongwu. We weren't making any outside shots anyway, so just let Trae and Dejounte handle the offensive scoring.
