  1. Just use either the ORIGINAL team logo and colors of the Tri-Cities Blackhawks or Milwaukee/St. Louis Hawks as the alternate and be done with it. The Celtics, Lakers, etc. teams with championships, dont go thru all that change. They keep it classic:
  2. Reminds me of the 100 " get rid of julio jones " threads on falcon message boards.
  3. Without Al........Hawks wouldve got dumped by the Wizards...........End of thread..........
  4. Sap wasnt the problem. He did a good job playing as a undersized power forward, paired WITH another undersized power forward, Horford. Dude just got wore down, thats all.
  5. It means that the Hawks were soo good during the season, that the expectations of the organization now is winning a championship. The Hawks were built the right way. They have a solid foundation and only need to address their frontcourt size/ rebounding, etc. This is a plug and play fix. Thats all they need. Thabo will be back. As i type this, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley are saying the same thing. All they need is size. FIRST MOVE...........Pero, it WASNT nice seeing you. Second move, get Kaminsky in the draft. I dont care what anybody thinks, i know this kid is gonna be a superstar. Third move. Get a veteran big thru free agency or trade to play center. Bring tavares over to anchor the end of the bench. ( Elton Brand's position). You will deploy Kaminsky/ Moose off the bench behind Horford/ another center until he is ready. Problem solved........
  6. I sorta dont agree. The Hawks still couldve pulled this off with a big at center who could average JUST around 10-12 points a game and rebound. This wouldve forced teams to play the Hawks more honest. Take Kyle Korver for instance. In the playoffs, teams knew that if you shut him down, you shut down the Hawks offense, because there was nobody in the middle to keep them honest. If you bring a Dwight Howard or Brook Lopez into the Hawks lineup, and surround him with Korver, Sap, Horford, etc. NOW, teams are stuck on defense because they cant cheat either way. Blanket the shooters, Howard eats you up. Blanket Howard, he kicks out to the wide open jump shooters. SAME thing he did early in his career with Orlando and those jumpshooters they had. Howard or Lopez wouldnt have to average 20 a game. All they have to do is get 10-12 points and control the boards and the Hawks would be a monster team.
  7. Pero Antić symbolized both literally and figuratively the Hawks over dependence on their spread offense and lack of interior play on both offense and defense. If you are gonna play a small lineup like the Hawks did, your top big off the bench BETTER be in the same league as Tristian Thompson. Instead, they trot out non shooting, non jumping, non rebounding, non shot blocking, 2 passes that lead to turnovers a game, Pero Antić. THAT was the Hawks season in a nutshell. To make matters WORST, the Hawks got rid of one of the TOP new bigs in the game, Payne, for what?? To make sure he does not take minutes from Antić?? It gets WORST than that. Antić stole minutes from Moose also. Moose does more on a couple possessions, than Antić does for whole quarters. He stunted Moose's development. Wait, im not done. Elton Brand still had enough left in the tank. He was regulated to the end of the bench, again, Antić stole minutes. Cherry on top. Mike Scott. I find it funny some people are overlooking the big games Scott gave us. Dude couldnt develop any rhthym in his game because Antić was always eating up ALL the minutes that the bigs were suppose to get.
  8. Pero was THE biggest problem the Hawks had LAST year and this year.
  9. But Pero was the answer, because " he can spread the floor and do the little things that dont show in the boxscore.........." lmao
  10. I actually felt sorry for Milsap and Horford today. Really, the whole team. Management lost this series and this championship when they got rid of Payne and stayed pat at the trade deadline. They felt this munchkin lineup in the front court could get it done, along with Pero Antić. More than ANYTHING, it was the lack of size and rebounding in the post that destroyed the Hawks. Teams figured out that all you have to do is control the paint against the Hawks and dont worry about their jump shooting. If they stay the status quo and resign the same players going into next year, it will be worse because the East is gonna be better. They better get SOME BIGS thru the draft, and or, free agency and move Horford over to power forward. Im not sold on Tavares. From the limited stuff ive seen of him, looks too stiff and unathletic to hold the paint down.
  11. This lost hurt worst than the other two. Man, again, i dont like bud's moves, rotations, defensive strategy, offensive strategy. All this crap started back when he was resting starters and disrupted the Hawks rotations and offensive flow during the regular season. Dude thought he was ALREADY coach pop jr. Man, this game was theirs to take........
  12. Why didnt bud EXTEND the game? I mean, its shocking to me that this cat isnt a good game manager. Its just like that game where they let Pierce take the last shot without fouling. I wouldve fouled Lebron, who is shaky from the free throw line, and extended the game. But nooooooo. He let Lebron do HIS thing, just like Pierce, FORCING the Hawks to try and hit a 3 pointer..........Disgusting. Ship him back to top assistant, dude aint ready for prime time yet.......
  13. No drives to the basket?? Im convinced, coach bud isnt a primetime coach. It took injuries and necessity just for him to expand his rotation, the same rotation that GOT them to the 60 win season. The constant double and triple teaming of Lebron, when they should let him get his points and shut down everybody else. A lot of questionable moves by the coach.
  14. All team sports are the same: DEFENSE. In baseball, its pitching and defense. In football, its running the ball and defense. Basketball is no different. Its about rebounding and defense. Thats how championships are won. Sure, the Spurs/Hawks have the best offensive system in basketball, but its rebounding and defense that wins chips. Im beating a tired horse, but when your best big off the bench is suppose to be Pero Antić ( according to coach bud and Antić followers), then your team is in serious trouble. This isnt rocket science with the Hawks. Im serious, KYLE KORVER is a better post player than Pero Antić......................
  15. Hawks were and ARE built the right way. I come down HARD on them, and its because of ONE player, Pero Antić. Antić is a HUGE reason the Hawks have problems. If you deploying a UNDERSIZED front court, your bench big BETTER be somewhere in the vicinity of Tristan Thompson. Heck, Adreian Payne wouldve helped. Moose couldve helped. There is sooo much riding on that first big off the bench with a team like the Hawks, and Antić isnt up to it.........Thats the ONE thing the Hawks didnt do right.
  16. I disagree. The Hawks to me ARE one good player away. There are two different directions the hawks should go. One would be to get a true center and move Horford to power forward, with Korver to sixth man and Sap moving to small foward, Carroll to shooting guard. Heck, they all play undersized anyway, moving down one more spot isnt out of the question because of the system. The other way is to keep everything the same, except move Korver to sixth man, and go get a shooting guard that can create. I know it wouldnt happen, but i would love to see Kawhi Leonard at shooting guard and small forward with the Hawks.
  17. But Pero Antić spreads the floor............The Hawks dont need anybody else............
  18. I didnt. I kept saying all season they needed balance on offense and a rim protector/rebounder.
  19. but, but, but "Antić spreads the floor and does all the little things that dont show up in the boxscore"...................lmao
  20. Im not a rocket scientist or mathematician, but all that mumbo jumbo lead to .23 block shots per game, 4.8 points and you need a calculator to calculate the 0.0 whatever assists that Pero had during the regular season. I care NOTHING about the nuances when they are not producing anything........... The 16 points, 15 rebounds and some blocked shots Payne put up in that clipper game are numbers i can work with.
  21. THIS is how you spread the floor as a big. THIS is how you score from outside CONSISTENTLY. THIS is how you block shots and rebound........and, they wasnt paying dude anything cuz he was a rookie.........The Hawks shipped Payne out in my opinion to not cause CONTROVERY with keeping Antić in the rotation.....
  22. But the Hawks STRENGTH this year was their deep rotations..........
