  1. In this one video Bembry has shown multiple attributes to his game - Ball Handling, Pushing/controlling the tempo Off ball scoring/Offensive awareness Defense An in between game - Mid range pull-up, floater Posting up smaller players - I want to include that he made a three pointer, but I want to see it consistently and effectively. Everything he did above is a legit strength he has.

    Coach Bud

Bud was more than an assistant for Popovich in San Antonio. Pop even said that they were more like co-head coaches. Most spurs fans were pissed when he came to Atlanta because they wanted him to be the new head coach if Popovich retired.
  3. I know its early, but I watch a bit of college basketball and and want to know the opinions of other people who may also watch some. Since the point guard, shooting guard, and small forward positions are locked up for the present and future, it makes the most sense to draft a front court player in the upcoming draft. Because the Hawks lack a "super star", I usually look at players that can do more than just fill a role. I want guys with upside and potential, even if its an unfinished product. The problem is there are only 2 legit centers in the first round and they may hover in or close to the lottery(outside of hawks reach) and there are no power forwards in this draft that interest me at all (They pretty much suck). I like when a player (regardless of position) can guarantee me these things - Defense, rebound at their position, hustle, and have a workable jump shot. Anything else depends on which position you play. What criteria would you like a player to have to be drafted by Atlanta? If the hawks can't find a player they like would y'all be okay with them pulling another Hardaway(trading the pick), and which player would you prefer?

  7. I don't understand what your saying
  8. He still is doing an excellent job early in his career. Not every successful coach starts out that way. Take Popovich for example - http://thelab.bleacherreport.com/gregg-popovich-spurs-coach-first-season/

  10. Why would GSW want an injury prone center as a starter
  11. I've said this over and over again, losing Evan Turner was the worst thing that happened to the Celtics in the short term, maybe Jaylen Brown becomes a star in the future maybe not, but right now, their best player/shooter and only play maker is 5''9. Al horford won't be much help defensively because they don't need help on the perimeter. I don't know much about Amir Johnson's defense, but I'm guessing its not as good as Paul Millsaps. Evan Turner was a guy with good vision who allowed Thomas to be an off-ball scorer. I never understood how people believed that they would contend with Cleveland seeing that their two best players who play clearly defined, non-interchangeable positions on the court are clearly undersized. and physically will always be at a disadvantage. I can picture Isiah Thomas trying to contest a Kyrie Irving fadeaway on the baseline but can barely keep a hand in his face, and then on the next possession seeing Tristan Thompson snatching rebounds out of Horfords hands.

  13. I want Dwight to do well, but obviously not at the expense of the team. Luckily our head coach is one of the most equipped to handle his style of play since he's coached 2 Hall of fame big-men that played with their back to the basket.
  14. Coach Bud is arguably a top 2 or 3 coach in the NBA. But he is DEFINITELY the best coach in the eastern conference( call me when Brad Stevens wins a playoffs series). He is also one of the few coaches who can make a system favoring the strength of his players(Popovich) rather than forcing his players to adapt to his own(Mike D'Antoni). He has changed the organization completely and I hope that he has a long successful career here.
  15. Dwight Howard this year has been playing great but remains seen as a "Glorified Role Player" by some people because he has been averaging a "measly" 16 PPG. And about how he is just a glue guy who does the dirty work( he does, but I think he is more than that) So I did a quick google search and saw that he has been playing 28 minutes a game so far this season. A good decision since we have a strong bench and look to make a post season run. But if you do the math and calculate his current numbers by the amount of minutes he played in his first year in Houston (33.7 I chose this because even though he was coming off an injury, It is one year where played alot of games and was seen as a Top center), It jumps to 18.6 ppg, and this is with our current struggle on offense with feeding him the ball and getting him to his spots. By the end of the year IF he is averaging around 32 minutes a game (Horfords minutes last year), and we fully integrate him in the offense with pick and rolls post ups, and dump offs then he should definitely average close to another 20 and 10 season. I think we should all write a thank you letter to James Harden and the Rockets for convincing the league that Dwight Howard is another Tyson Chandler and allowing us to sign him.

  17. One thing I didn't anticipate when we drafted prince was his ability to finish tough shots at the rim, every game he has played decent minutes in he has had one possession where he takes it to the defense and finishes through contact. Its interesting because on his scouting report, it said that he would be more grounded as a finisher (Demarre) and would struggle against length. And if he can do THIS consistently, than we may have stumbled on something.
  18. I agree. Offensively Muscala has so far in the season done a good job in bringing what Horford brought us last year. Although his defense hasn't been as good Its still not bad, especially for a backup. I am impressed and hope this trend continues. Mike Scott may or may have not been crossing his fingers after Mooses dunk. Lol
  19. Bench defense was bad, hopefully a healthy Splitter can change that
  20. I'm not saying I approve of this move, I didnt. I thought Walter could be an interesting piece if he panned out. But there is just so much patience you can put on a player. This is what also happened with Lamar Patterson( to be fair, he had way less potential), and we replaced him with much better players in Bembry and Prince. This to me just says that the Hawks are probably gonna draft a center instead of a power forward in the upcoming draft. He was a second round pick, I was more mad about Adriean Payne because we wasted the 15th pick of that draft. Jarrett Allen.....
  21. http://www.nba.com/article/2016/10/30/power-rankings-week-2 Guess where they put Boston and Atlanta.
  22. I liked Walter, but he would be useless against small ball teams. Look what happened to Tim Duncan last year, he was benched right before tip-off against the warriors when the press released that Bogut wasn't playing that game. Size doesn't mean talent.
  23. Have we had anyone that was capable of playing inside consistently that changed their game to shoot?
