  1. I will never understand why everyone on this site is not fully committed to change. What exactly is the problem with a lottery pick? That's literally our only chance to land a top caliber player to this roster because we've already tried to trade for one (and failed) and the slim few times we've tried to sign one or even resign one we failed (KD,Horf, etc.) Don't be afraid of change.
  2. The issue with what you're saying is eventually those players that are playing near max minutes will run out of gas or even worse get injured. The NBA has evolved now into a team game. That's why we see NBA fans getting mad that they paid money just to watch a star rest, but the fact of the matter is that every player needs rest especially considering they play damn near max minutes night in and night out. And your theory to play the most talented people can work on a short term basis, but in an 82 game season those players will run out of gas and fall short every single time in today's NBA. So that's why I'm advocating for a bolstering of the bench opposed to keeping everyone in house. As much as everyone wants to say it we're not the Spurs East. We don't have the depth nor talent to just sub in and out players every offseason like we have the past 2 years with Korver,Carroll,Horford, and Teague leaving. That's why you have seen us decline. So until BudCox or Hill or whoever runs this team fully commits to reshaping the mold of this team sadly we'll continue to decline unless we luck up and draft/develop a star. Im telling you all now resigning Millsap is a lateral move for this team as constructed now and looking forward to the offseason.
  3. This team's starting lineup isn't hurting with Sap off the floor. It's the bench. It's very obvious that the only way ANY hawks team will succeed with or without a all star like Millsap is with a great bench, and the fact of the matter is we haven't had one sense the 60 win season.
  4. I think with the roster I've constructed you could easily run a 10 man rotation and be sneaky good like the Heat are this season.
  5. While the roster doesn't look pretty it is definitely a deeper team than the one that was currently on the floor without Millsap. And that's the goal I think this team has to take because quite frankly I don't see any true superstar coming to ATL, so therefore we only have 2 options. 1.Conjure up a team like this that is deep down throughout the bench (like even the 13th man can play good consistently) or option 2 2.Build a team like what the Sixers,Nets, and Suns have and be a young team but consistently miss the playoffs but the payoff is consistent lottery picks in hope we snag an actual superstar. Me personally i like option 1. Which is why I've brought the idea up that maybe the best way to build this team is not by major addition. It's by those minor additions.
  6. What the issue with the team and secondly what's the issue with finishing in the lottery? Only thing that'd mean is we finally would have a chance to bring home a drafted stud star. As for the GSW trade... Bazemore's contract could be absorbed by them due to the fact majority of their bench is on 1 year deals and they could easily get him and resign KD/Curry. Their only losses from that however would be Zaza,Clark, and Iggy... which they're losses are pretty much guaranteed unless they sign on vet minimums next season (doubt it) due to the size of what KD and Curry will take up with their max deals.
  7. What if I told you letting Millsap walk and trading Bazemore would fix literally all of this teams problems? You probably wouldn't believe me because this team has been on a massive losing streak ever since both have been out however what you're missing is the starters in a good majority of those games have been in the positive in the +/- category. What's been killing us is our bench production, and everyone knows this team MUST have a good bench to succeed because our system relies on having guys who can rotate in and out and continue to run the offense seemingly. So with that in mind here's the easy fix.... Trade Baze to GSW because they'll be in need of another energetic SG/SF combo because they won't have the money to resign Iggy because they have to pay KD and Curry this upcoming season. Allow Millsap to walk because with him we're still a team that won't get past the ECF's because he isn't a number 1 option on ANY team that legitimately thinks they can contend. And with all all that money you have saved you do the folllwing.... Resign THJ,Humph, and Illyasova and then sign the following to bolster this teams depth and help us get back on the right track to Eastern Conference eliteness. Derrick Rose-Rose has stated he will not command a max deal and just wants to play for a winning team. Assuming he's true to his word we're the perfect fit for Rose as he could come in and be a solid backup to DS17 and he'd also provide a nice mentor to the youngster especially considering Rose was eerily similar to DS17 before he ascended into his MVP level of play. Ron Baker-yes 2 former Knicks back to back, but what Ron gives us is a guy very similar to our former fan favorite Kyle korver. He's a solid player who has a sneaky 6'4" frame and while his 3-or percentage doesn't blow you out of the water (31%) in his rookie season he's come on hot in the 2nd half of the season shooting near the 40% mark. He'd be a nice rotational player to add as a cheap addition. Shabazz Muhammad-Atheltic scorer who fits our system perfectly. Would be a nice 6th man on our squad. The following roster would be... PG-DS17,Rose,Cordinier SG-THJ,Bembry,Baker,(draft) SF-Prince,Muhammad PF-Illyasova,Humph,(draft) C-Howard,(draft) with the roster assembled above you would have cap flexibility for years to come and the right mix of young studs/wise vets to lead this team and be competitive for the next few seasons. And if you ever were to find that guy who can be the face of the franchise (whether in house or not) you could easily build around that person. Just throwing an idea up on the board for the squawk to discuss.
  8. Honestly I feel like we're more than likely his top destination and rightfully so I mean look at our situation in comparison to his and see it logically... 1.We have the 2nd longest NBA playoff appearance streak in the league behind SAS and they're definitely not gonna need him. Plus he wants to win... 2.Were in desperate need of backup PG help and he provides that for sure. 3.DS17 is damn near the same player he was before he got to his MVP level of play and D-Rose could help in his development. 4.He's another one of those "big name" guys that Bud likes lobbying for and he'd definitely make this team more marketable. 5.We have the best facilities in the NBA for health and recovery and the evidence is clear cut considering Dwight has nearly played every game this season and we've had NO major injuries since Horford in 2014. Any way you look at it D-Rose could very well be a Hawk next season.
  9. Well what your missing in this is fan appeal... even in the losing seasons fans would pay just to see if Julio was gonna go off for 200+ yards or to watch the offense do its work. And now that we have the defense as hard hitting and fast as the one we got that rocked the GA Dome out in style it's hard to think the hawks will match that unless they catch that magic again like they had in 2014-15 or snag a superstar or another brand name like a Melo
  10. Honestly.... the Hawks are now the 5th least watched team in Atlanta... they're behind 1.ATL UTD 2.Falcons 3.Braves 4.GT Football 5.Hawks
  11. I mean for example we could take Monta Ellis from Indy and easily be able to dump him in the offseason because his contract is shorter
  12. I've actually put a lot of thought into this.... I honestly think bud knows he's building towards the future team with the roster assembled the way it is because if you think about it... 1.Dwight will more than likely stay here for the remainder of his career and if that is indeed the case he will have to take a lesser role especially if we find a Center who is capable of starting. And if he does decide he wants to resign after his current contract expires it will be on a Al Jefferson/David Lee type deal so he could just be a rotational big man 2.Im fully confident in this front office to get rid of Baze so we can pay THJ and of course in the future Bembry and Prince. 3.We'll find a backup PG 4.Dont be surprised if we don't resign Millsap. He isn't a piece that makes this team better in future years, and granted while I love Sap he should really strongly consider a return to Utah or maybe sign with a PF needy team like Detroit,San Antonio,or Memphis
  13. What we need to take into account if we want to get rid of Baze via trade is which team is one hustle guy away from being contenders? Because those are more than likely the team what would take him unless we can pawn him off to the nets for a bag of chips. Like for Example the Raps got PJ Tucker. They're now on a feverish climb up the Eastern conference standings and once they get Lowry back are easily contenders. Some teams I've thought about is the Pelicans,Pacers,Wizards, and Clips
  14. What I want.... Schröder Hardaway Jr Hayward Millsap Howard what I'll get Schröder Hardaway Bazemore Millsap Howard
  15. See that's what I remember from the D-League.... him and Cotton split time at the PG spot and I remember him running the offense pretty well in his time.
  16. Back in 2013.... Your Atlanta Hawks selected the young, quick, electric guard from Germany Dennis Schröder.... at the time this pick seemed odd with a very similar guard in Jeff Teague was already on the roster and locked up for a while, alongside the steady hand Shelvin Mack backing him up...however Coach Bud stood by his pick and slowly brought Dennis along to now in which he is a full time starter. Flash forward to this past years draft and Coach Bud seems to be back at it again with young, electric, quick Isaiah Cordinier. Now he might be a little too young for the part right now but could we see Cordinier be brought over a little quicker than expected to fulfill the void that is our backup PG spot? I'd like to think he could especially if we keep Calderon or sign a vet to be the 3rd guard in our rotation. Just some food for thought for the future of our organization.
  17. 1 person in this entire thread gave Dwight props. He played his best game last night. Defended the Hawks ole nemesis Jonas and shut him down. He BROUGHT IT last night and even when Jonas/Serge was trying to get chippy and physical and get under his skin Dwight just kept on trucking and did his work. (Very Millsap-like) I'm really looking forward to the rest of this playoff push. Us and Toronto are gonna come down to the wire looking at our schedules
  18. Ok.... whose gonna play PG?
  19. This is something I noticed.... just in the backcourt... Last night we used Dennis,Delaney, and Hardaway at the 1,2,3 for a good 10 minutes in the 2nd half.... why can't we do that with our frontcourt?
  20. Now honestly and this might sound crazy.... Bud is what Mike Smith was for the Falcons to our Hawks.... he's a stable coach who works great with vets and guys who played and started in the league, but until we find our version of Dan Quinn we won't prosper and our rooks/young guns will continually be babied into playing time in favor of older guys like Baze/Korver/Sef/etc. We need a coach who knows how to incorporate the new guys and feed off their energy in a good way opposed to bud forcing them to get acclimated before they actually get the playing time they deserve. (2/3 years into our system.)
  21. I just want you to know being completely honest. Sap has literally no reason to resign here.
  22. Not Schröder,Not Prince,Not Sap (resigning),but DeAndre Bembry. This team with bazemore is a inconsistent turnover prone roller coaster ride who will never break the 50 win boundary unless we majestically lure a star like Butler,George, etc. If Bembry develops sooner rather than later it would give us a HUGE boost as a team because I feel like Bembry is a very more controlled player. His only downside right now is his jumper and knowing the offense. The thing is tho is that both of those will come with time if he just gets the playing time needed. I mean to me he had a coming out party against Houston in our huge comeback, but ever since he's seen rare minutes and multiple DNPs... what's the deal? Either way us hawks fans best hope bembry turns into at least a role player in order for this franchise to continue their success because if we keep on with middle of the road guys like a Baze we're screwed.
  23. Get back into a game Schröder Hardaway Prince Millsap Illyosova Protect lead Schröder Bembry Sefolosha Millsap Humphries
  24. Yeah I'd do it.... move Dwight to the bench and watch us beat cleveland in route to a championship
