  1. This already includes us dropping Patterson and Scott. Meaning we need to dump Splitter + Thabo OR THJ to make room
  2. Own his Bird rights to go over cap this year, but his $18M cap hold still applies towards the cap. It is VERY (if not impossible) hard to make room for that $18M with this new deal for Baze.
  3. Deng actually might be a decent option at the 3-spot if we can sign him for ~$14M. Let Baze go get his $18M+ contract. Sign Deng to a 3-year deal. Deng can also play the 4 in case any one of Horford, Howard or Millsap gets injured. Jared Dudley is also still an option.
  4. CViv doesn't have any sources within the Hawks and doesn't know what he is talking about when it comes to the salary cap.
  5. I think the only way we sign Baze now is if he takes a discount to stay. I think we can move some players to give him around $15M/year, but you have to think that someone is offering him the same contract that Evan Turner got which was ~$18.8M/year.
  6. Korver isn't coming off the bench with that lineup. His spacing would be so valuable on that starting lineup.
  7. I don't know how I would feel if Al chose another team's 4-year 4.5% raise/yr max over our 4-year 7.5% raise/yr max...
  8. This was actually my prediction prior to the start of free agency. I don't know if Baze takes $15M/year though.. Looks like he could get more.
  9. Won't happen till July 7th. Can only make verbal agreements between July 1st-7th. Official trades/signings happen on the 7th.
  10. Sap would likely retire before he would play with that cast of players together. Dude has patience, but not that much.
  11. To be fair, both of them began following Durant on twitter this offseason. So maybe it's "going down in the DMs"
  12. Yea I agree.. I honestly just think it's their personality though. Millsap and Horford seem like the guys that just keep their head down and focus on their own games, while ignoring all the noise and media frenzy stuff. I can see Dennis constantly trying to recruit people in a few years though lol...
  13. Yea, I mean.. I don't know Al at all on a personal level. But from watching him and his career, he doesn't strike me as the super competitive guy that will walk away from more $ and move his family to chase a ring. Then again, who knows...
  14. Meh.. We weren't too bad without him during 2013-2014 season. That said, I am still in the "resign Al" camp.
  15. My personal opinion is that Budcox and Al Horford are both playing a game of "chicken" right now regarding that 5th year. Horford is meeting with lousy teams like the Rockets to show that he could leave and gain leverage, while Budcox is meeting with Dwight to show that they are prepared for him to leave. I think Budcox is willing to give him a 4-year max with 7.5% raises, while Horford wants that plus the 5th year. Again... My own personal opinion and I have no insider info.
  16. I'm curious how much Brooklyn with Kenny Atkinson will offer him. They have plenty of cap space to sign him. The thing is do you waste big offers on Bazemore who is 27 years old and likely not to improve too much more? Or do you go after younger guys who may or may not become valuable players?
  17. If Al chooses to leave us for the Rockets..... smh
  18. From Rotoworld: "According to The Vertical, the Pacers were in serious discussions with the Kings for Rudy Gay before they traded for Thaddeus Young. The Kings' asking price was apparently too high, but The Vertical is reporting that they are still looking to move Gay." I don't think Thabo and Mike Scott are in the range of what the King's are asking for Gay.
  19. Bradley a back up PG? Doubt we would want to take on Calderon's contract this year. Bayless and Vazquez are free agents. Minnesota has been known to shop Rubio. I imagine most think Neto is available with logjam at PG that Utah has. Mills I think is only traded if SA needs the cap space or signs Conley. I think it's Collison, but who knows.
  20. Would Thabo be worth trading for Collison? Remember Sactown was interested in him during the trade deadline. I think it would be worth it for us. We need offense, especially on the 2nd unit, and he provides a lot of that. Problem is we lose our best defender. But I really think we only need Thabo to defend LeBron come playoff time and I think Millsap can do decent enough job of defending LeBron in place of Thabo. Who knows how Prince develops as defender too come playoff time.
  21. The only PG that I can think of that fits the "who knew he was available" would be Collison.

    Scenario

I like parts 1 and 3 of that scenario, but not the rest.
  23. Just to be clear, official signings do not actually begin until the Moratorium period is over (July 7th), but teams and players are allowed to have discussions before then starting July 1st. So you may hypothetically hear on July 2nd that Horford verbally agrees to a deal with the Hawks, but that does not mean we have officially signed him. So don't think that if he is our first "signing" that Budcox have screwed themselves in terms of the salary cap.
  24. Stretch provision allows you to waive a player and payout his salary in even amounts over twice the remaining number of years on his contract plus one year. Splitter is under contract for only the 2016-2017 season at $8,550,000. If we use the stretch provision, then we have to pay out $8,550,000 by twice the remaining years on his contract plus one (1 year remaining * 2 + 1 = 3 years). So, we would have a cap hit of $2,850,000 for the next three years. This saves us $5,700,000 in the salary cap for the 2016-2017 season. However, if Splitter signs with another team (very likely), then the Hawks have the right to "set-off" some of his salary and not have it impact their salary cap. The amount the Hawks would be able to set-off is 1/2 the difference between Splitter's new contract and the minimum salary for a 1-year vet, which is $874,636. So if he signs a deal for $6,574,636/year then the Hawks get to set-off the entirety of his cap hit ($6,574,636 - $874,636 = $5,700,000 / 2 = $2,850,000). Just to be clear, I am not 100% positive on the second paragraph details, but that's how I understand it.
  25. I don't understand how keeping Horford is going to require $24.9M? If we give him the max, then it will only count as $18M towards the cap. This gives enough $ for a 7-9yr vet max if we renounce all other cap holds and drop all non-guaranteed contracts (except Muscala's). It is ~$27.6M left over, assuming a $94M salary cap.
