  1. And you know that no one has a better 2nd than the Brooklyn 2nd we own so I'm looking at it as he's a Hawk IF Bud wants him.
  2. Yup. Gotta say I'm a little surprised and confused by this. I understand he's got other things going on as well, but seems like it would have been expected and understood when he joined the ownership group that he'd use his connections with the players to help the team any way he could. Otherwise, they are sort of wasting the benefit of having a NAME guy as part of the ownership?
  3. Saw where Lakers said they are trying to get a 2nd for Nick Young. Anyone have interest in him? I still think this team needs an upgrade at the 2 and 3 plus a backup PG.
  4. Fell for what exactly? The original post guaranteed nothing and simply stated that the Hawks and Pacers were talking. The very fact that reports now say Indy has been "assessing" the trade value of George substantiates the original post. Just about everyone in the thread has said at one point or another that they don't believe it's likely and most have said it doesn't seem possible. So what exactly are you claiming the rest of us "fell for"?
  5. Figured as much as I haven't seen it reported anywhere else. I wouldn't mind KJ but I was thinking Scott for KJ. Or as part of a larger deal where we dumped Baze on Houston. The way the tweet read it seemed more official than a rumor.
  6. So the Hawks get two MORE 2nd for this year. Maybe they are going to package every damn one of them for PG?
  7. • The Rockets, after adding Lou Williams, remain “motivated” to acquire a player in the $10–12 million salary range, offering expiring contracts and cash in return. (Adrian Wojnarowski, The Vertical) • Houston has expressed interest in trading for Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert. (Marc Stein, ESPN) • Among Houston’s expiring contracts are Nene and Tyler Ennis. The team also holds an option on K.J. McDaniels for next season. From SI.
  8. Was actually just looking at a trade to Hou that centered around Baze. They could use his Defense and don't need any real offense out of him. Would be a good fit, imo. I think they are wanting to ship out short-term expiring contracts or so I've read. Maybe Daniels, NeNe, and one other for Baze?
  9. Since we're just slinging stuff on the wall.... Add a rule that says no 2 players can combine to make more than 40% of the total salary in a given year and no 3 players can combine to make more than 50%. That way you end the "big 3" issue without actually depressing any one player's salary unfairly. Get rid of all the exceptions that allow teams to go grossly over the Cap (like the super-max and bird rights deals). I'd also be in favor of a hard-line CAP so every team was playing on the same court. For instance, GS's total salary this year is $97.7M. The Hawks is $96.8M. But the Cavs is $126.5M.
  10. I was - and still am - intrigued by the idea. But there were some that thought it was foolish. More than anything I just want them to do something bold. Show us that you're trying to make a run in the PO - or that you're ready to tank and rebuild. Either way, I'm good. Just don't give me this, "we're happy with our team so we made no moves" crap when you are a mediocre eastern PO team (as constituted). Not sure I can stomach much more of the status quo (who am I kidding, I'm hooked on the Hawks).
  11. And then we're back to the Sap/Alice/Howard argument from the summer. Personally, I'm open to just about anything that brings a big time scorer to the court. Even if that means trying out some unconventional lineups like this. I don't know, but is he even capable of playing the 4 for short spurts?
  12. A couple things: 1. It would be fascinating to know which organizations are looked upon as not reliable to deal with and which ones are easy to deal with. Also the same for agents. 2. Why do I get the feeling the Hawks are like the awkward kid in elementary school that gets left out of all the cool kid parties? While Bird and Ainge and all the other cool kids are wheeling and dealing, Bud is standing in a corner like....
  13. I think I read that teams can add protections to picks they didn't originally own, BUT ONLY IF they own the entire pick. So Boston can add a protection to the Nets pick because they own the whole thing. BUT Hawks can't add a protection to the Cleveland pick because it's not fully owned (it's lottery protected).
  14. Are you suggesting that PG WILL BE traded and if it's not Boston then you like our chances? OR are you just saying IF PG is traded then you like our chances if it's not Boston? I'm still having a hard time believing there's any real chance Indy trades PG. Curious if you believe they will or won't.
  15. I don't disagree with anything you are saying, but nothing you are saying really points to having to do a deal this week. They could value the draft and still make a deal over the summer for more picks. They could be desperate and decide to deal PG but they don't really gain anything by dealing him now. UNLESS they think the offers will go down substantially between this week and the summer, it's hard to see a valid reason for the timing of doing a deal now. And I'm not sure any offer would go down over the next 3 months. It'll take a King's ransom now and over the summer, imo, to net PG.
  16. As much as I'd love it, I just can't see the logic of trading PG before next summer. What's to gain? Indy would have to net a fortune to do a deal now. This is all fun board talk but I just can't see it being a reality. Not with a full year+ left on his contract.

Yeah talk about some jacked up ish. Wiz get sweet Lou and Heat get Chandler. C's get Butler. Hawks counter with a washed up former all star. No thanks. I'm half surprised they didnt have Sap going to Cleveland or some other trash on the Hawks. Maybe we can swap Sap for 2nd in 2030.
  18. More likely they had no interest in beating the Pels offer.
  19. By bad...I thought we were talking about Robin Lopez. And no, I haven't looked at the Bull's cap situation. I was more talking in general that I figured Splitter's contract was more useful paired with another player to make salaries match. But if the trade was Splitter for Brook I'd be all for it. Hell, I'd throw in a few picks too.
  20. Don't know but I'd like to find out. Give me Chandler and Williams and I'll take it and run for now. Would rather have Melo but he isn't going anywhere.
  21. Personally I wouldn't send a 1st for a backup C. I also would think Splitter's expiring contract would get more than Lopez.
