  1. Quote: Now.. Since you watched over 15 games with Marvin tell me this.. Who looked better on the court under pressure.. Marvin or Jawad? Notice.. I'm not saying who gave the best slam dunk preview.. But who looked more comfortable on the floor when it was a big game? OK so now you are comparing a 22 year old senior with an 18 year old freshman, which averaged just 2 ppg less than Jawad and was the 5th option while Jawad was the 3rd option the team and a starter. Diesel I am looking at production dude, and to me Marvin produced being a 5th option , coming off the bench and being just a freshman 11 ppg and 6.6 rpg is production for any freshman as a bench player, heck even as a starter. Marvin showed the heart of a lion while in the games, plus add that to kid's potential.....if I said it once, I will say it again......he has allstar written all over him.
  2. Well all that depends on a lot of factors, so is just a maybe hotlanta. Ok Maybe Al/JJ are not as good as Al/walker, but just maybe they are or even better, but the difference is add 1 year of Chillz and Smoove experience and also add Marvin and Salim to the mix, and possibly just possibly this team can turn out to be a 40 win team or close to it......and yes Diesel is right it all depends on the coach.
  3. Well both of them do have flaws in their games. Yes they can become all-stars, you give Chillz and Smoove a consistent out side shot, and they most certainly can become all-stars. Both of them already are very good rebounders, play good defense and can take the ball to the hole with authority....give them that last basic skill of an outside shot, and we will be seeing them in allstar games. Thats why I said Marvin will become an allstar, because he does have that outside shot.
  4. Aha!! got you Diesel I knew you would respond to this post. Yes I watched him play over 15 games, and I know what Marvin can do, and what he cannot do (which let me add there is very very very little he cannot do) Yes I can see Deron, Deron is good , very good.....I give you that my friend, but I can also see Marvin, Marvelous Marvin......I can see him become an allstar in this league, and he will. He was not....like I said before, any freshman going into a program like Carolina and averaging 11 ppg and 6.6 rpg as the 5th option is a heck of a darn good player and has star written all over him.
  5. He most definitely is not a bust. I want to ask a question to all of you interested in answering. Have any of you seen Marvin play, not just one game, but say 10 games when he was in UNC? Well for those who have......please help me out and for those who have not. Here are my 2 cents on this matter. Marvin averaged 11 ppg and 6.6 rebounds per game, as a freshman, but dont only look at those numbers, look at that he only played 22 minutes per game. He wasn't the 1st, nor 2nd nor 3rd nor 4th but the 5th option on the very talented North Carolina team. Yet Marvin still averaged 11 ppg and 6.6 rpg as a freshman. Which means that basically this kid lived on getting his points from the offensive boards, fast breaks and pure hustle and getting his 85% ft% on the line. I watched over 15 North Carolina and this is exactly how Marvin got his points. Every one here that watched UNC games last year, know exactly what I am talking about and exactly what that kid is made of. This kid is way talented, heck I will go off base here and say he will be an all-star in this league. Any freshman that can average 11 ppg and 6.6 rpg as a 5th option on the National Championship, very talented North carolina team is nothing less than an all-star.
  6. Sorry but Al is worth much more than Darko, they would have to throw in something for Al.
  7. You and me both Lascar, I have been reading everything since 8:30 am, good thing my boss is cool and never in the office
  8. YESSSSSSSSSSS baby About time Bye Bye Lord Belkin. Thats what you get !!! lol
  9. If I could go, I would of driven up there with my wife and daughter, but it would of had to be a weekend game. Its like a 10 hour drive for me. Well worth it though
  10. WOW !!! This is pretty awesome. Thank you very much Mr. Levenson. I am glad the owners minus Belkin of course are trying to build this Hawk team back up again. This is amazing, we have never had an owner do something like this to us. And I my friend and everyone here in the squawk would like to thank you and the Hawks organization. Unfortunately I cannot go, I am a Hawks fan that lives in Miami, Florida and plus during that time I will be going through the police academy and I cannot take any days off, but thank you again.....this is something very very kind.
  11. Quote: Trading Childress, Al, Delk for Nene and Andre Miller Ok this must be the worst trade scenario so far on this board. First off, everyone that has posted anything to do with trading Childress, they MUST STOP THAT NON SENSE NOW. Secondly we are giving way too much for Nene and Miller
  12. The way I am looking at it, is that the Stern ruling was just another step in the process, it gives me hope that the NBA is backing the decision by the other 8 owners....now of course if this judge indeed is a buddy of Belkin, then I still see Belkin staying as the Governor of the NBA. Now the 8 owners can still fight this and if Stern wants to get involved, because he wants to do the right thing, then he will. But all this rest on the hands of that judge even though he did say that the 8 owners needed the NBA's approval. We should all cross our fingers for the next couple of days, even though this thing might get resolved later on the day.
  13. awwww come on guys.... is the few times that both Chills and Smoove have missed, lol
  14. Stern OKs removal of Belkin By Shira Springer, Globe Staff | August 12, 2005 NBA commissioner David Stern submitted an affidavit yesterday that approved the removal of Boston-based businessman Steven Belkin as NBA governor of the Atlanta Hawks. The affidavit was filed in response to a request by the ownership group Atlanta Spirit after Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Allan van Gestel granted Belkin a preliminary injunction and the right to remain as governor Tuesday. At that time, van Gestel concluded that approval by the commissioner was a precondition of any removal. Since the Hawks' owners in opposition to Belkin now have prior approval from Stern, they will attempt to install Atlanta-based owner Michael Gearon Jr. as NBA governor. In the affidavit, Stern also approved Gearon as the replacement governor. The defendants in the case filed a motion yesterday to dissolve the preliminary injunction. Briefs will be submitted this morning. The owners in opposition to Belkin want the matter to proceed as expeditiously as possible, hoping van Gestel will reverse his decision this afternoon. The Hawks' Board of Managers has scheduled a teleconference for later this afternoon, which could represent the first opportunity to replace Belkin with Gearon. ''I'm very heartened by the commissioner's action strongly supporting our position to remove Steve Belkin as governor and approve Michael Gearon as our new governor," said Washington-based Hawks owner Bruce Levenson. ''It's in the judge's hands now. Despite Steve Belkin's opposition, every owner and our entire basketball staff supports GM Billy Knight in his efforts to put together an exciting young team that will capture the hearts of our fans. Joe Johnson is the next important piece of that plan." As soon as the Hawks install a new governor, they plan to finalize a sign-and-trade with the Suns to acquire Johnson in exchange for two first-round picks and Boris Diaw. While the majority of the ownership and basketball operations staff favored the deal, Belkin opposed it. In accordance with his authority as the Hawks' NBA governor, Belkin would not approve the transaction. Belkin believed Atlanta was giving up too many assets to get Johnson. While other past disputes divided Belkin from his co-owners, including the allotment of All-Star tickets, it was the disagreement about the Johnson trade that precipitated the legal action. In part, the Stern affidavit read: ''My conclusion is that . . . if the Governor knows or reasonably should know that he is acting contrary to the wishes of a majority of the Board of Managers, and he nevertheless proceeds to take an action in connection with a material matter that legally binds the team, such as consummating a player trade or preventing the consummation of a player trade, the requirements for removal have been met. ''On August 1, 2005, Mr. Belkin acted to block the trade of Joe Johnson by directing the NBA [through a letter sent by outside counsel] not to proceed with a trade call between the Hawks and the Phoenix Suns that, if held, would have consummated the trade for Mr. Johnson previously negotiated by the Hawks' General Manager and approved by the Hawks' Board of Managers. Mr. Belkin's action, which . . . was binding on the team, barred the Hawks and the Suns from completing the trade." From the text of the Stern affidavit, it was clear the commissioner wanted to preserve the authority of general managers or those invested with the power to pursue and arrange trades (Danny Ainge is called the Celtics' executive director of basketball operations). While the Hawks' situation is unique, Stern apparently believed the league could not afford to allow the legal system to set a precedent where an NBA governor had the right to block a deal desired by the majority of co-owners and team's basketball staff. The commissioner thought both agreeing to or blocking a trade constituted a legally binding action. In the wake of the Stern affidavit, Levenson reiterated his belief that the only tenable resolution to the whole situation would be a divorce where Belkin is bought out or vice versa. Belkin and his representation declined to comment last night. I sure hope the decision comes down today and hopefully we can have another press conference soon and finally the devil himself out of the Atlanta Hawks organization and have Mr. Joe Johnson wearing a Hawks uniform. MY question is, Can Van Gestel still reject Stern's approval? and if he does, wouldnt something smell a bit too fishy, even though it already does?
  15. Which is a very good thing, because you know when they post something on the site is because something is about to come down or came down....and of course something they are excited about. lol
  16. Quote: JT is the reason why we have Diaw and Not Howard. JT is the reason why we didn't get Tony Parker or Jamaal Tinsley when we could have. JT is the reason why Reef/Theo/Big Dog couldn't gel. JT is the reason why Reef/Toni/Theo couldn't gel. JT is the reason why JJ was forced out of Atlanta. JT is the reason why JR became a Ball hog in Atlanta. JT is the reason why we picked Demarr instead of Crawford. Yes lets blame JT for picking Diaw and not Howard Lets blame JT for not getting Parker nor Tinsley Lets blame JT because Reef, Theo and Big Dog could not co- exist Lets blame JT because he got JJ out of Atlanta Lets blame JT because he let JR become a ball hog and Lets blame JT on why we picked Dermarr over Crawford Did must be the worst post ever by Diesel, How can you possibly blame a player for things that are out of his hands? Thats why the Hornets are blaming Kobe for being a highschooler and trading him to the Lakers for Divac.
  17. Guys dont get your hope so high on the press conference. I predict the announcement of Zaza Pachulia signing, which we are knew by Monday that Bucks weren't going to match. I sure hope is the JJ signing but I doubt it was resolved so quickly, it would take a couple of days, by friday or monday. You have to see that on the Hawks website right in the bottom of the Zaza Pachulia signed an offer sheet with the Hawks, they have place this press conference at.
  18. This is the best Hawks news I have heard this offseason. Thank you very much Chillz
  19. Good question Delancey Is this from a very reliable and credible source, Chillz?
  20. hope it works, I did exactly what Jay told me to do.
  21. Yes I agree, I blame the other 8 owners by giving this power to Belkin and now it has backfired them. They should of had the same rights as Belkin does and now they are f___ed. I would never go into a business giving the other person more power than me especially when I gave up the equal amount of money as that other person did DID THEY REALLY HAD THIS MUCH TRUST ON BELKIN? P.S. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME HOW TO ADD A PIC ON MY SIGNATURE IN THE BOTTOM OF MY POSTS?
  22. Maybe not , but they haven't made any noise and step in while we are down to take over. or maybe they just cannot afford JJ.
  23. Hawks seek NBA's help in acquiring JJ Court upholds owner's authority to block trade Paul Coro The Arizona Republic Aug. 10, 2005 12:00 AM After a familiar loss on a road court, Atlanta Hawks owners who want Joe Johnson are now looking to NBA Commissioner David Stern to help them accomplish what a Boston judge would not Tuesday. NBA lawyers were exploring eight Atlanta owners' request to remove dissenting co-owner Steve Belkin as the team's NBA governor. If successful, they can proceed with a trade that would send Johnson from Phoenix to Atlanta with a five-year, $69.6 million deal. "We're currently reviewing the judge's ruling," NBA spokesman Tim Frank said. advertisement Belkin's role as governor allowed him to block the deal that would have brought guard Boris Diaw, two first-round draft picks with lottery protection and a $4.9 million trade exception to Phoenix. Last week, Belkin received a temporary restraining order that stopped the owners from a planned vote to replace him as governor. He sought an indefinite injunction Tuesday in a court in Boston, his hometown. Judge Allan van Gestel granted the injunction 15 minutes before the restraining order was set to expire. The other owners were prepared to take an immediate vote to remove Belkin and install co-owner Michael Gearon Jr. as governor. They could return to court today if they receive the commissioner's approval to remove Belkin as governor. Much of van Gestel's written explanation was supported with basketball matters, rather than opinions on the role of a NBA governor or specifics of the owners' partnership contract. However, he did emphasize during the hearing that he was surprised the defendant owners did not oblige with a clause in their franchise purchase contract that requires commissioner approval to remove a governor. The meeting began with Belkin approaching Hawks General Manager Billy Knight, who refused to shake Belkin's extended hand, and the judge referencing the Red Sox's sale of Babe Ruth to the Yankees. "The defendants claim devastating results for the Atlanta Hawks if the Joe Johnson trade is not accomplished," van Gestel wrote. "They speak warmly of Johnson's talent. He may not, however, be the only basketball player who can serve his potential role for the Hawks. Nor is it clear that getting Johnson and giving up two first-round picks in the 2006 player draft and another player who was himself a first-round pick, along with the amount of money required, would not equally as well have an equally devastating result for the franchise." The judge also stated during the hearing that he did not have the NBA knowledge to render basketball judgments. But in the court documents, van Gestel wrote: "It is hardly apparent on the present record that the deal for Johnson, however talented he may be, given what is needed for the Atlanta Hawks in order to effect it, is in the economic best interest of the franchise. In short, it is not clear that Belkin's action constitutes a removable event. Surely, the commissioner, when asked for approval, will have to consider all of the ramifications of the Johnson trade, not just that the defendants and others want him. Sometimes the cost is just too great." If Belkin's authority to have final rule on trades is upheld by league lawyers today, other possible resolutions include: • An ownership buyout, whether it is Belkin leaving the group or gaining more than his 30 percent share. • A renegotiation of the trade. The Suns have resisted the Hawks' attempts at this. • A third team is involved to make the trade agreeable to all parties. • The other owners file a motion to reconsider or take the case to an appellate court. • The Suns make another attempt to sign Johnson to keep him in Phoenix. Diaw, excited about the possibility of joining the Suns, has his career on hold while trying to decipher the saga from his native France. "I think it's just a matter of time," Diaw said of the trade getting finalized. "I think they'll work it out." This gives me great hope that this matter will be resolved at least by next week and I sure hope it is. Good thing is that no other NBA team is interested in Joe Johnson.
