  1. history doesn't mean much in the video game world. Gamers go where the games are and they aren't really on the ps3. If you want a blu-ray player, sure, I guess the ps3 is the best option out there, but if you want to play games, the 360 is where it's at and where it will continue to be.

  2. I dunno man, nintendo has gotten a rep over the years as not being very supportive of 3rd party developers and everything I've heard so far with the Wii seems to support that. I've heard of quite a few developers say they are holding off on the Wii because "non-nintendo games don't sell on nintendo platforms".

  3. 3 years probation afterwards. He'll probably do 18 months.

I'm sick of hearing about all of it personally. While I fully agree that you break the law and get caught, you accept your punishment. Nobody should do time like this over animnals. I could kill someone in a car wreck and I would do less time..

  4. I'll give you that, he is taking less (actually almost none) 3's of late. I was shocked to check the box score of the last game and see himn 0-0 on 3's.

I'm not sure if I've noticed him being under control more on drives, he still gets in there and throws things up, they're just falling in more than not now. Overall his game is definitely more under control.

  5. worldwide the 360 is still slightly ahead, but yah, for the most part the Wii has outsold it in half the time. Everything is killing the PS3, it is the lame duck out there now.

With the exception of the controllers, the Wii is basically a gamecube. So there's no logical reason for shortages other than Nintendo purposefully keeping supplies low. It DOES generate hype because people who aren't gamers read how neat wiisports is and see that it's hard to get and cheaper than most "next gen" consoles, so it makes it something they seek out. The primary reason for the Wii's success is the initial experience and hype that Wiisports generates. The low price simply makes it something most anyone can own.

As I've stated before, I have my concerns that the system will be a long term (2-3 years) success. Looking at software sales to hardware sales, I would estimate that a good 2/3rds of the Wii's sold were hype/impluse buys and haven't been used beyond Wiisports. That's not a recipe for success in the video game market. It's all about game sales and the Wii is nearly tied with the ps3 for lowest attach rate. There are just too many shoddy games and Nintendo is well known for doing nothing to help support 3rd party developers. It's made worse when even Nintendo's own first party games come out and fail to take advantage of the controls, which were supposed to be teh lure of the machine in the first place.

  6. Sorry, but that's just not the case. weak side blocks, rebounds, steals and even assists aren't signs that you're a team player. Being a team player is giving the ball back to a man who has a better matchup or position, Josh doesn't do that often. Being a team player is staying in a mans face on D and not letting him get by you just so you can have a shot at the block instead.

Joe passes the ball, Marvin passes the ball, Childress passes, AJ passes, Horford passes...Salim pa.. well...not Salim, but you can usually depend on everyone on our team to make the extra pass, but more often than not when Josh touches it, the rotation ends there.

He's been playing better lately, which is to say his shots are falling more consistently, but he's still doing the same things that drove most of us crazy before. Just because some of those bad shots are falling doesn't excuse the flaws behind them.

  7. I'm happy with the way he's been playing, but lets not get crazy. The only difference between now and two weeks ago is that his shots are falling. Those layups are rolling in (despite many being bad shots), but many of the other complaints are still valid. He's still a me-first player, he's still looking for HIS shot and nobody elses. Even in last nights game there were several times where he'd push to the basket and throw up a shot with three guys on him when he had two men wide open on the perimeter and never even looked their way. That's the difference in making those shots and missing them. He misses them and we're dogging him, he makes them and everyone forgets what pissed them off about him in the first place.

When it comes to Josh, it's not about highlights for me. I want consistency and good team basketball. I know he can do all the other stuff.

  8. a word of advice. Check the weekend ads, the ones that kick in on sundays. If a store advertises Wii's (or anything) they are bound by law to actually have them in stock when the store opens that Sunday. So you can be pretty confident that if you see Walmart or ToysRus advertising the console itself in the ads that start this Sunday, They will have them if you get there when the doors open. You just have to get there early enough to not miss out.

  9. Since I own one I can say this with more sincerity than most don't like it, but I just don't understand the hype. If I was in the market for a game console, I wouldn't consider anything other than an Xbox 360. The Wii is a gimmick in every respect. While it has sold tons of units, the attach rate is the lowest of this generation (meaning games sold per console) because...the games suck.

It's a console that got a lot of hype because of the game that comes with it, wiisports. That game, and Nintendo's own PR, built expectations for the Wii that have yet to be followed up on. They said "graphics don't matter" and billed the unique controllers as being the be all end all, then they start cranking out games that hardly even use them. For the most part even the games that do manage to use the Wiimote well are just gamecube ports (resident evil).

Unless you know of a bunch of games for it that you just want to play, I advise you to save your money. Because without that list of "must play games" you'll play wiisports for a month and that will be it for you. That's how it was for me and many of my friends who own one. We were all into it for a month or so. Once Wiisports got old we realised that nothing else out there matched it and most of the other games flat out sucked.

  10. but the coaching mistakes you can't write off because they happen as much now as they ever have.

As far as the Chris Paul thing goes, about the only time I ever hear anyone bring it up anymore is when Matt Chernoff on 790 whines about it, which is really all he ever does about anything. I really hate his radio schtick. You can pretty much guarantee that regardless of the subject, he will always take the position that represents the most uninformed side of the discussion. I know the guy can't be that much of an ass clown, he's just trying to pull ratings. Which makes him all the more disingenuous.

Every now and again Steak Shapiro will mention it, but I think that's mostly lip service to try and convince the Atlanta fans that he actually pays attention to sports that happens outside of Boston.

  11. I haven't been there yet, but I know it's one of the more highly regardes brew houses around town. Definitely going to get there soon.

You can find Chimay and Duvel in lots of places around town. if you have a harry's near you or a Trader Joe's, both of those have Duvel. Harry's has quite a bit more actually. I go Bullock's in East Cobb, they have a HUGE selection of imports. Any big liquor store should have a few options. Ommegang's Three Philosphers is a more common one that's not bad either. Trader Joe's also has an Abbey Ale that's bottled for them with around 7.5% that's pretty good for the price.

  12. I've always felt and will always feel that Andrews biggest problem was that he wasn't interested in working hard enough to be great. He's a guy who was literally a star based on raw talent alone and he wasn't interested in putting in the extra work that it would take to go from star to superstar. It's possible that being in a new city might change him some, but I don't think it would have ever happened here. Heck, I know it wouldn't have.

  13. I'm a fan of all of our guys, but Horford is just something we haven't had in years. Granted, before our current crew of young guys, we didn't have a SF who was worth a piss since Nique, but still. Horford has the type of game that we've lacked for decades and seeing what he's doing as a rookie just makes you smile for the present and the future.
