  1. I agree with this and would prolly do better in a strong veteran locker room. Problem is they would avoid him most likely.
  2. This. Take the big or unless it’s a Celtics 76ers type deal where you know you are getting hwho you covet.
  3. Anybody besides young. I can see reasonsons for donic, ayton and bagley. My hope is we take the talented big. JJ, Bamba and porter are toss ups. If healthy I think porter may surprise. Young I just can’t get behind. Porters my wild card if healthy. More than likely assuming we don’t get top two we take bagley his floor still makes him better than many of the other players outside porters back.
  4. While prolly to early to ask at least till Tuesday is the consensus that we go big with our 1st pick.
  5. Yeah ive seen the turner comps. That would be an okay floor. But J.J. Is who I see when I look at him.
  6. Yeah brown a fave of mine. Something about him that makes me giddy as a player. His shooting is the only real concern for me. But then we’ve been able to turn guys into decent shooters so he is firmly in my crosshairs if he survives to 19.
  7. Some of us did not just suddenly become hawks fans some of us have been here just not posting here. I like the path we are on vs the any team besides the 76ers, and Celtics in the east.
  8. In agreement take the first and make picks unless it’s an unbelievable player. Most trades of giving up a pick for someone else you usually look foolish.and Detroit dumping kennard makes little sense he’s on a good contract for them as they control his rookie and option years. so that won’t be happening.
  9. I like both coaches but worry about that last part as well. Should be a intresting week the rest of the way. I m leaning towards Pierce as he’s been around three different styles. So maybe he picked some things up.
  10. Met with ressler obviously. Not fizdale.
  11. Laeeanaga seems to be the favorite there and the guy from the spurs. Which would make sense on the hawks zeroing in on pierce.
  12. Larranaga met with ressler and fizdale per article floating around.
  13. Most intriguing part: young, widely respected by execs and veterans, gravitas, cerebral strategy, trusted by star players. Pierce just became my favorite candidate. Will attract better FA’s down the road if he can manage to develop young lottery players and get us back to the playoffs sooner (‘20) than later. Big IF. Hope he would keep Hammy onboard. Yeah started to read up on him last night seems to be the sum of all the things we want. Plus Schlenk and he have worked together.
  14. Happens when you overpay role guys like stars. I remember some guys wanted Batum. Lol. For a decent contract yes that albatross is holding them down and Kemba the guy that has been carrying them will most likely be a casualty as a result. And not many would win with charlottes roster.
  15. Prince is easily my favorite hawk in this interaction and is a guy I root for. His whole mentality is why I have hope for our team.
  16. i would pay to be a fly on the wall if he got the Charlotte job. him and dwight part 2
  17. my thoughts too melton is a fav of mine and having denis around allows him time to develop after a year off. and an offer for dennis would have to a least be a first 10-20 type pick or its a non starter.
  18. I’m still wonder how you ship Oladipo out and keep Payton. Bad juju all the way round with them.
  19. You don’t have to take 20 shots to be the best player though. Go back and watch a couple of Dennis drives to the basket a lot of them resulted in a wild shot or him forcing a shot or getting blocked when he could have dumped the ball off to the roll man or to a shooter. His defense is inexcusable, your best player should lead the way as it helps set an example with his teammates. That’s why the great ones are great cause they do it on both ends. I’m fine with Dennis but more than likely like what was said he is what he is and will prolly get moved to cash in on his value.
  20. We’ve had this discussions depends on the vets that you add. Ie. Minnesota adding butler. Vs Orlando adding serge ibaka and biyombo. If you don’t know the difference then there isn’t much to discuss now is it. Phili will be interesting in that who ever they sign could determine that teams ceiling. For the most part reddick and Amir Johnson helped with this this year. Sign the wrong guy and you set yourself up for failure. And I don’t see anywhere where I advocated losing for multiple years. You may not like it but it’s sad to pay a team that clearly has a ceiling. The hawks would have prolly not made the playoffs anyway this year if they brought back your roster. Also the Lakers bring in an IT and Frye you prolly won’t win a championship with you but those guys can show the young guys how to carry themselves. And look at Chicago bring in wade and his effect on them. There are countless examples you could look to.
  21. Orlando and hennigan were flawed in this approach. Plus coaching Vaughn and skills to an extent. Short sighted trades like the saric for Peyton trade. Then adding high price veterans such as ibaka and trading away olidipo was short sighted. It was a weird trade then and is even weirder now that oli has blossomed in Indiana. Then the risky free agent signings of biyombo. I never thought much of vuceivic or henzonja and still don’t. Gordon was cast as a sf for much of his time. And injuries havent been kind to them. There are no quick fixes sometimes you just need to get lucky.
  22. I think the chips will be let to fall were they lie. If they come out blazing and winning they will ( not likely) still keep there impetus on getting assets. I don’t think the plan is to do a Philadelphia or insert any other lottery team over the years type deal. I think there is some truth on both sides the hawks wanted to tear down the expensive middling team. Bud preferred veterans that could help him win. It’s going to be exciting though, new coach, new refurbished arena and hopefully a franchise player or two to market. Exciting times are upon us.
  23. Potential employee. And he doesn’t have to be the owner for a wrong to be established. And yes he did go after deng point remains in this day and age. Although in hind sight prolly was good that it didn’t work out that way. Ferry behavior would not be tolerated.
  24. I said the same things. He is talented but he’s a guy if it doesn’t go well he could get you fired. At the same time he is intriguing.
