  1. Why though? The Context and circumstances of the sale matters. (Ehem DF) Hawks weren't a tanking team for 3/4 years before the sale, they were perinnial playoff victims losing sometimes in historic fashion.
  2. That's crazy talk - a 2nd rounder??? I'm ok with moving Dennis for the right price, but if it's just to move him for garbage it makes no sense. He's a flawed player but he's still young enough to improve his defense, decision making and 3pt shot. He needs to balance his affinity for scoring easily off a drive with running the team effectively. This fuster cluck season did him no favours. Can he? Remains to be seen.
  3. Better by stats but not name recognition and popularity. Those guys get voted in by fans to Allstar games - Horford and Millsap doesn't. Unfortunately, perception matters.
  4. I've wondered the same. I don't think Pop retires with the Kawhi business unsettled.
  5. Celtics are in a different category, they actually had stars to trade to get these top picks and dumbess GM to give them the picks. Hawks didn't have one star player to trade for a lottery pick. Even Al Horford wouldn't get us a top pick in his last season here. Boston wanted him and was offering Kelly Olynyk and their own pick which was in the 20s, Houston wanted him and Teague for Dwight - how do we rebuild with that? The Philly team now as it stands was due to Embiids injury, had he been healthy from the get go, I doubt Philly drafts Simmons who then misses his entire year along with Embiid missing a ton more games giving them #1 pick Fultz. Stupid Ferry for letting LD stick around. Raptors can't be trusted!
  6. Wouldn't it be funny if he doesn't get an offer?
  7. Have you seen the Bucks capsheet? It's brutal now. By the time they add Parker's new deal, they'll be in the Luxury Tax or very close too it. Which means all they'll be able to offer Dedmon is the $8.5 MLE. They'll need to move their overpaid guys like Delly and Henson. The Bank if Schlenk should be open to take some bad contracts for 1sts.
  8. The way I see it, there were a ton of mixed messages from Schlenk. - we'll take a step back from the playoffs to get better - we'll play an exciting brand and be competive and if we win 30 games I'm ok with that....mmmmmm?? Apparently not. - I'm not interested in a Philly style tank he says. (We shall see this offseason). - why bother signing Dedmon and Illyasova and keep Beli if you want to tank and not expect them to win you games, because as he said he's ok winning 30 games? - Trades Illyasova and Beli at the deadline but Dedmon wasn't on the market? - sits Bazemore and Dennis to avoid winning, so Bud plays the young guys - Hawks win 2 games down the stretch against playoff teams Wiz and Selts, Bud gets yelled at (I think it was Ressler) - probably says 'I dont need this' plus Schlenk now staying 'we'll leverage capspace for 1st round picks' meaning no meaningful FA signings - meaning a longer rebuild than Schlenk said initially. Simple - Bud didn't want to be here for that and Schlenk was only too happy to see him leave to bring in his own guy. A mutual parting of the ways. Nothing for Illyasova, Nothing for Belinelli and Nothing for Bud and paying him his contract - I'm watching you Schlenkly with a side eye. From the ASG and infighting ending up in court, the Levenson letter, the Ferry Fiasco, forcing to sell the team, the Wilcox debacle and now the whole Bud will he or won't he stay - the Hawks just can't get right. It's ALWAYS something with this team. Sigh. #IWonderWhyIStillRootForThisTeam #Hawk4Life!!! Go Hawks!!
  9. Hate to burst that bubble about Schlenk selecting Collins....most of the credit goes to BudCox, Asst. GM Peters, the existing scouting department and minority owner Mit Shah.....who as a Wake Forest alum asked Bud and Co. to check him out....waaaay before Schlenk was hired. And as Schlenk so aptly put it, he was scouting players for a late GSW pick so he relied on the existing hawks scouts and front office reports. ECFs in 5 years? Don't see it.
  10. Hello Squawkers, it's been awhile. Yesterday marked the 1 year anniversary of my father's passing. Reading through the many prayers and messages in this thread I want to again say Thank you. Go Hawks!!!
