CBA and Salary Cap related items...New 6 year deal reached 2023!
JayBirdHawk replied to JayBirdHawk's topic in Homecourt
so how many? 3? Unlimited? Edit: thinking about this more, small marker teams will sign these max deals, then not be able to adequately fill in the back end of the rosters, particularly from the exemption that will be removed for a tax team. -

I'm waiting to see what the full details/parameters/restrictions are. There will/may probably be limits set on investments, disclosure agreements will need to be transparent to deal with cap circumvention. I guess once traded a player will be required to sell their shares -

Mavs are on a B2B, Kyrie, Luka and THjr all played 40+ minutes in their loss to the Heat. We have a size/rebounding advantage. We should win, right?- 175 replies

I haven't seen any Amenesty Clause provisions in New deal. -
Of the 77 games played, here's the total games played by (longest stretch of missed games): Trae - 70 (Trae didn't have any b2b missed games he missed 2 of 4 games in late Jan/early Feb) DJ - 70 (missed 5 games in mid-Dec with sprained ankle) Dre - 65(missed 4 games in early Dec, then 3 games in late Dec) JC - 67 (missed 8 games in early Dec) CC - 61 (missed 14 of 16 games in Dec/Jan) Bogi - 51 (missed the first 22 games of the season then didn't play in 3 additional b2b games) OO - 75 ( our Iron Man this season) The rest: JJ - 65, AJ - 68, Bey - 72 (20 w/ Hawks, missed 1 with the trade hold up), ASH - 59, Vit - 26, Martin - 13, Bruno - 36 (5 with Hawks), Mat-Hues - 52 (7 with Hawks)

Other CBA highlights: All-NBA selections will now be positionless Non-max rookie extensions go from 4 years to 5 years Luxury Tax brackets will increase at the same rate as the salary cap (used to be $5 mil increments) Players can now invest in NBA and WNBA teams, Cannabis and Sports Betting companies. Salary cap smoothing of 10% when the new TV deal kicks in, so no cap spike (32%) like in 2016. High-spending teams above a second-apron of luxury tax aren’t allowed to send cash in deals, trade first-round picks seven years away or sign players in the buyout market. They also can't take in more money than they send out. (These would have impacted the Durant and Harden trades). -
He's most likely done for the rest of the regular season.

You are playing a dangerous game Spud . Would love to see it though.

Impact of new CBA on DJ! He ly has 1 year left next season 2023/24 at $17.7 million. Under the old CBA, an extension of his existing contract would start at 120% for $21.2 million. Under the new CBA, an extension of his existing contract would start at 140% for $24.7 million. Thinking out loud.............with the new TV deal starting in 2025 with a possible salary cap at $175 million (with max slots at $43.75, $52.5, $61.25)....would DJ consider a shorter term extention to his current contract to take advantage of this new cap? Would he sign a 2 year extension (1+1) with an opt-out for the 2025 Bonanza? If he gets to free agency after the 2024 season, the projected salary cap is $143 million (with max slots at $35.7, $42.9, $50) [AND NO, I AM NOT ADVOCATING GIVING HIM A MAX].....so would he forego approx $7 million (I'm guessiing he'll get at least $30 million in FAcy) for 1 year in 2024/25 for a potentially bigger payday in 2025? Lots to consider.

New CBA deal on Two-Way contracts: There is an increase in two-way contract slots, jumping from two to three per team. Two-way contracts were created in the 2017 collective bargaining agreement as a vehicle for teams to develop younger players. It has been seen as a success, as it's become a route to players earning long-term homes in the league, and in several cases becoming major contributors. Developing into a real minor league system.

Clint is close to his 30% rebounding rate incentive with 29.2%, however he's short of the 2000 minute threshold, he currently at 1624 minutes LTBE $500,000 (30% defensive rebound rate + 2k min) He's currently at 60% from the freethrow line, needs 65% to meet his 500k incentive. At a minimum, He'll need to take at least 17 freethrows over the next 5 games and make all of them to get to 65%.
