  1. I would LOVE to have dwight as our center. I would sign al to a deal, then package him with zaza and salim or childress to get him.

    Hey Hots....

in my opinion, they future of this teams starting lineup will be jj at sg, marvin at sf, and smoove at pf.
  3. ATLANTA HAWKS POST-GAME QUOTES Hawks Head Coach Mike Woodson: “They got the job done, and that’s the nice thing about our team now. They’re playing, they get down, and they don’t think they’re down. They’re playing to win, and that’s what it’s all about. We did struggle early. We let Carmelo have his way throughout the game. There were times that we blew our defensive assignment by doubling and getting the ball out of his hands. And early, he was beating our double teams, escaping baseline and getting to the free throw line. He’s a tough kid to guard. For the most part, our defense hung in there when we needed to have it. Especially down the stretch we made plays. And offensively, we made plays when it counted.” “We were down five, we had to force the overtime. I thought Joe hit a great shot to tie it up, and then Chills (Josh Childress) makes a heck of a steal with four or five seconds on the clock With them having a chance to win the ballgame, that was huge. Then in overtime, we get down early, and we just never changed our attitude in how we played.” “Josh Smith was huge tonight. He made some spectacular plays, which is really nice to see, a young kid come through. But everyone who played tonight played great for us.” Josh Smith: (On his stat line today): “I try to pattern my game after Kirilenko. I watch him and try to pattern myself after him. You look up and he has 14, 10 and maybe five blocks and five assists.” “We were kind of flat to start the fourth quarter, and when I came back in I just tried to add a spark. We weren’t worried, everyone was pretty calm. We shared the ball around, made good passes to each other and it got us back in the game.” “Beating San Antonio gave us a good boost, and we realized what we could do as players, and I think that was kind of a wake-up call for our team. From there one, we’ve been real confident in each other, and we’re having fun out there. We’re smiling, and everything out there is fun for us.” Tyronn Lue: “Down the stretch, everybody on our team made big plays. Childress with the steal to send it into overtime. Josh Smith made a lot of big plays, some dunks, key blocks, offensive rebounds. Zaza made four free throws, and had two (clutch) offensive rebounds. Al got a steal and dunked it back. Joe sent it into overtime with a big shot, and everyone just made plays down the stretch when we needed to.” (On the overtime three-pointer): “I knew when I was coming off the pick-and-roll, the big guy was staying with me the whole time to make sure I gave it up. So I tried to turn the corner hard, so I could step back and get separation over Elson. And I was able to get a tough shot.” DENVER NUGGETS POST-GAME QUOTES Head Coach George Karl: “I feel awful that we lost because we played a good game but that’s the nature of the NBA. When you’re on the road and you don’t have a big talent pool it can be a long game. Even with our best players in the game we haven’t finished off games well and today was prime example of that. We just gave up way too many points towards the end the game.” (On the collapse in OT) “Rebounding is was big problem for us tonight. They (Hawks) beat us to the ball all night long, and in overtime it helped them close out the game.” Carmelo Anthony: “It was a tough game tonight because we only had seven guys tonight. We were very tired tonight, coming off tough games in Cleveland and New Jersey. The whole road trip caught up with us today. We came out and played aggressive today but the overtime was just too much for us.” DerMarr Johnson: “They (Hawks) are very comfortable at home and they have been on the road lately. It was tough to come out and play an early game on the last day of a ten-day road trip but I thought we competed well. We’re playing good basketball.”
  4. just to clarify.... If it says Hawks +2.5, that means that they are giving the knicks 2.5 points. So you can take the knicks to win by 2.5 or take the hawks to win by any number or lose by no more than 2.5. if i make the spread Hawks -2.5, then you are betting they will win by that amount.
  5. So im sitting here in my office and had an epiphany. What if i were to set a spread for every Hawks game throughout the rest of the year? I will tally up the scores once a week so you guys can keep up with your rankings. I will always have a half of a point in each spread so that there are no pushes. Any picks posted after tipoff will not count. Tonights spread: Hawks +2.5

    JO interview

Quote: Its an insult to Rodman and Sheed to compare them to Artest. Rodman never attacked fans, and he was a key component to a lot of championships. Sheed may have gotten T'ed up a lot but what teammates have anything bad to say about them. Artest is a great player but he has nothing to show for it. wasnt sheed the one who intentionally threw a ball the length of the court right at teammate ruben boumtje boumjte's (sp?)head?

yea i saw it last night as well. great movie. The scene of them traveling to the island on the boat was wayyyy too long in my opinion. but peter jackson always makes long movies so i expected it. The stampede scene was probably my favorite.
  8. she's only shared with other girls....
  9. Quote: Shock, When Marvin has a 21 minute, 4 point, 2 reb game and he goes home and sees Chris Paul having a 18pt, 7reb, 7 asst, 4 steal game... Does he call you over to give him a back rub and to read him a story?...blah blah blah etc The difference between our posts is that mine demonstrates how absurd your argument about marvin having no hunger for the game is and calling you out on your trade scenarios that everyone laughs at. On the other hand, your post was a piss poor attempt to "one up" me on the comedy scale. nice try though. Look, i agree that we probably should have picked paul. He is NBA ready and a legitimate star in the making. But just because BK made a mistake, im not going to make marvin the scapegoat for this thing. Just because he isnt putting up paul-type numbers doesnt mean he should be mentioned in virtually all of your trades, or that you should give people are hard time when they come to marvins defense. Have your beef with BK and say he should be fired, prognosticate who the new gm will be, etc. and lastly, have fun in your 200's section by yourself, ill look back at you while im sitting 5 rows back from the court with my girlfriend.
  10. Quote: Barkley said (on frankly speaking) that all superstars have an edge about them. He said that Bird, Magic, Micheal, Himself, McHale were all the type of guys who would slit your throat to win (paraphrased; actually, Stephen said it and Barkley continued the conversation)... Point is that Marvin doesn't have it. I just don't see the competitiveness of a superstar in MW... He may have some tools, but the main thing is that drive and determination. Honestly, is Marvin HUNGRY? Has he ever been Hungry? NO. Right now, Marvin is where he wants to be and for us (fans of the Hawks) that's a tragedy! Hi, my name is Diesel. Im an f'n idiot because i claim to know the inner workings of marvin williams mind, body and soul. Basically i know these things about him because i have an uncanny knack for reading between the lines when he is quoted in print. I also have a super-duper 2000" plasma that helps me to understand and identify marvins facial expressions when he is on the court. On top of this, i post about 250 asanine trades daily. Ive been bitter that marvin doesnt shoot 100% from the field, record quadruple-doubles, and date eva longoria. Because i mean, damn, chris paul right now is better than oscar robertson was in his prime!
  11. also rumored: if stan kastens group isnt able to buy the nationals, the braves would be next in line.
  12. Seems like half the competition has given up!
  13. Quote: Quote: Woody has been put in a bad situation to coach his first team. I don't know if he will be a good coach with the right personnel around him or not. When news of the inner sanctuary of the lockerroom become public, it's time to find someone new who can coach and keep team business; team business. I haven't heard of locker room problems. When did that come about? a few games into the season, marvin got very upset after a game when he drew some heated criticism from woody inside the locker room. I think alot of people thought it was smoove, but actually it was marvin.
  14. well guys, ive been in san antonio the past few days on a business trip and got to see the spurs in action against the miami heat. I showed up at the sbc center near the end of the 1st quarter and was able to scalp a ticket for 10 dollars about 25 rows back from the heat bench. First of all, i realize that the spurs are the only professional team in san antonio and that they are the defending champions playing against a shaq-less heat team. but the place was sold out! and it was a playoff atmosphere on every possesion. the buliding was electric and it was something im not accustomed to being to so many hawks games. it really opened up my eyes to everything the hawks are not. watching the spurs and heat play, it really opened my eyes that the hawks are NOT a team. both teams ran plays on EVERY possesion. Generally, there were at least 3 to 4 passes every trip down the floor. Now i know that we are the youngest team in the league and that it takes time for chemistry to come together, but we can only lean on that crutch for so long. Obviously our team has NO game plan and no identity. To me, this reflects on the coach. Ive been behind woody since day one, but watching these two teams proved to me that i was wrong. Guys, woody just isnt the guy for this team. Its not that he isnt a good coach, its that hes a rookie coach who has been thrown into a situation that could possibly be the worst situation for him. Granted, BK could have made better picks and trades since he has been here, but this teamisnt as bad as our record shows. I truly believe a more experienced coach could get a whole lot more out of this team. I understand that management doesnt want to give up on woody or the season, but the longer we wait for a light at the end of the tunnel, the more it may hurt our players in the long run. Im not a gm, im just a fan, so i honestly dont know what is best for this team, but i definately have an opinion, and i think this team needs a new coach.
  15. Quote: Quote: but hey......it's his time. But right now, they got to do what's right for them. Because it's their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it's our time. It's our time down here. That's all over the second we ride up Troy's bucket. simply put: Brilliant Thanks nick for the highlight of my online reading for the day!
  16. I thought post players were supposed to have higher fg%'s?
  17. Quote: Two words.......ISAIAH THOMAS Exactly. Thomas lobbied for the Pacers to draft Harrington when he coached there. There is a friendship there, and I think Zeke would do it.

    Marvin woke up

What i like most about Marv is how fast he makes a decision to do something with the basketball after he catches it. He already has a plan of what to do with the basketball and where the defense is. Hes a smart, quiet kid.
  19. yea i cant access my team either but can access my football team, and it shows that im in week 41 and everyone has a bye. ....weird

    john edwards

Ive heard alot of people call him "big john", but can we please give this guy a funny nickname? He just has this hilarious "man...i just woke up" catatonic, droopy expression 24/7. He always seems like he has "bed hair" (drobjnak suffered from this on occasion) and just looks sloppy in general. Ok squawkers, lets hear some nicknames...

    GUNS.

c'mon zach you need to fire some rifles! When you go to Athens, ask to shoot a 30.06......thats a gun!
  22. Salim is by far my favorite Hawk. His game and my game are almost identical. In high school i was an undersized sg with a very quick release and high 3pt%. We also have similar attitudes on the court. These past 12 games ive been sort of living vicariously through him, kind of like those crazy parents at their kid's t-ball game. lol
  23. Who said i was angry??...laughable... And does it really matter who brought it up? Be an adult and end it.
