  3. Quote: Quote: 1. Lebron James. 2. Steve Nash/A-Rod 3. Sergio Garcia. 4. McNabb 5. Chris Bosh 6. Brian Urlacher 7. Tony Romo 8. Vince Young 9. Eli Manning 10. David Beckham Beckham should be higher. A Rod would be my number one and Lebron wouldn't make the list seeing he took his team to the finals last season. Beckham is semi-retired and for at least the past three years everybody has agreed that he's merely a shadow of his former self, so how can he be overrated??? To be overrated you need to have a lot of people saying that you're very good, which isn't the case.
  4. Position in number of threes made - number of teams making the playoffs: 07/08 Top 15 - 11 (Celtics #8, Lakers #5) Bottom 15 - 5 06/07 Top 15 - 11 (champ #6) Bottom 15 - 5 05/06 Top 15 - 12 (champ #13) Bottom 15 - 4 04/05 Top 15 - 12 (champ #12) Bottom 15 - 4 03/04 Top 15 - 8 Bottom 14 - 8 (champ #24) 02/03 Top 15 - 9 (champ #11) Bottom 14 - 7 01/02 Top 15 - 9 (champ #6) Bottom 14 - 7 00/01 Top 15 - 10 (champ #11) Bottom 14 - 6 So it seems like it certainly helps to be a team, that is one of the better three point makers, if you want to make the playoffs and/or win a championship. Hawks ranked #27 this season (only PHI, SEA & LAC made less threes), so Atlas is totally right in my opinion, the Hawks need better & more three point shooters or hope that Law, Chillz & Marv can develop into consistent three point makers, which is doubtful. Bibby made the 2nd most threes on the team eventhough he only played in 33 games, that says it all (top 5 are JJ - 169, Bibby - 69, Lue - 30, Salim - 29, AJ -27).
  5. It's currently halftime. The game also features ex-Yellow Jacket Will Bynum & everyones favourite ex-Hawk Esteban Batista, plus a lot of other ex-NBA players and some guys who might play in the NBA one day.
  6. Quote: No, I'm saying he's a bad pick. Read the thread title. Maybe you should read. You said Bargnani's stinking it up, so Marvin must've been stinking it up too since Bargnani hasn't played worse than Marvin. Quote: So, does he stay on one side of the court the whole game? Does it make him a post player if he doesn't? Quote: Marvin was never projected as a 4. Never. In his first two seasons Marvin played most of his minutes at the 4, so if Bargnani's a post player then surely Marvin's a 4. Quote: Not really. Despite being a year younger and playing a smaller position, Marvin is the better defender, rebounder, and slasher, a smarter player, a better team player, gets to the line more, fouls less, and is more integral to his team success. What success???????? In his first season Marvin was a non-factor for his team's "success" while Bargnani was an important part on a playoff team, but Marvin was more important oooookay. Foul difference is 0.4 per36 woopdidoo. Smarter player? Better team player? The one year age difference is a non-factor since Bargnani had a lot of other things going against him (playing style, culture, language, country, national team, etc.). Quote: He's a better shooter, but he doesn't make his team a better offensive team. And that's *with* the luxury of playing with a true PG for his whole career. Actually it does, cause his shooting skills create more room and matchup problems, while Marvin no-three-taking allows the defender to fall back. Neither Marvin nor Bargnani was stinking it up in their first two seasons, they were just disappointing which realisticly isn't that much of a surprise since both were pretty raw when they were drafted. When somebody says Bargnani sucks, then he has to say the same about Marvin, otherwise he's just a blind homer.
  7. So you're saying that Marvin stunk it up? Calling Bargnani a post player is like calling Diaw a bonafide PG, he's clearly a perimeter oriented forward (he takes more threes than shots around the basket and you're calling him a post player, maybe you should watch him play). When Marvin was picked we had to figure out if he was more SF or PF, it's perfectly legit to compare these two and Bargnani hasn't played worse than Marvin (and Marvin didn't have to play with his national team during the summer and lose tons of confidence during that tournament), Bargnani's better on offense, Marvin's better on defense, both are disappointing, but saying one stinks while the other is right on his way to be a good player is.........
  8. While I agree that Bargnani has been disappointing, he hasn't played worse than Marvin Williams in his first two seasons for example (and I guess you wouldn't say that Marvin has stunk it up his two first seasons). Bargnani per 36: 15.9 pts, 5.6 reb, 1.5 ast, 0.6 stl, 0.9 blk, 47.7% eFG Marvin per 36: 13.2 pts, 6.3 reb, 1.6 ast, 0.9 stl, 0.5 blk, 44.7% eFG (Yeah I know Marvin is 2 years younger, but Bargnani comes from another country with another language and a different mentality plus he has a girls' first name, so I'd say they're quite comparable)
  9. I doubt it, it seems like he is regressing. Since Efes loaned him to their rivals Galatasaray he's playing 13 minutes per game in the turkish league, he makes 3.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists while shooting 31.6% (6/19) from 2 point range and 29% (9/31) from 3 point range. In the ULEB cup he has performed better averaging 19:30 minutes, 6.7 points, 1.7 rebounds & 1.1 assists while shooting 65% (2PT, 13/20) & 35.7% (3PT, 10/28).
  10. Today you might get a chance to watch Cenk Akyol via Eurosport stream. At 12 (or 12.30) EST they show Joventut Badalona vs. Galatasaray Istanbul (Cenk is loaned out to them) ULEB Cup semi-final. Also in the game are Ricky Rubio, Rudy Fernandez and ex-Jazz Dee Brown. link: http://video.eurosport.se/video.shtml (I guess you have to click on the picture on the right side when the game has started)
  11. Howard didn't play in the NBA before he was 23 and he already played in an allstar game.
  12. Richard Jefferson and Marvin Williams. What did I win?
  13. Raivio is currently stinking up the german league, so he's not an option. We should give one of the DL guys a chance, Andre Barrett ist currently averaging 19 pts, 9 ast, 2.8 to, 50% FG, 46% 3PT.
  14. Maybe we should try to get another team's dl player, guys like Watson and Langford are putting up good stats there. Or Almond although it seems he just chucks a lot.

    Cenk Akyol

His team, Efes Pilsen, already loaned him out to Galatasaray for the rest of the year, because he couldn't get playing time at Efes. For Galata he's playing 12 min per game (in 7 games). His scoring average is 2.29, 50% 2FG (4-8), 16.7 3FG (2-12), 40% FT (2-5), he gets 1.7 rebounds and makes 0.7 assists, 0.6 steals & 0.6 turnovers.
  16. Quote: • Cavaliers insiders are starting to believe Eric Snow 's days in Cleveland are numbered. Before undergoing knee surgery, Snow sold his house in Cleveland and returned to his family's home base in Atlanta. After joining up with the Cavs for two games of their West Coast trip last week, he went back home to Atlanta citing personal reasons. The suspicion is he will ask the Cavs to buy him out of the two remaining years of his contract, which he hopes would allow him to sign with the Hawks. That might be a problem, though, since he stands to make $6.7 million this year and $7.3 million next year. I hope he means that he wants to sign with us as a coach, cause we sure as hell don't need another backup point guard.
  17. Efes (3-2) - Oyak (1-4) 88-61 Cenk: 17:59 min, 9 pts, 2-5 FG, 5-5 FT, 4 reb, 1 ast, 2 steals, 1 foul box score
  18. Efes (1-1) played at Maccabi Elite (1-1) in Euroleague today. Maccabi has ex-Yellow Jacket Will Bynum and ex-Hawk legend Esteban Batista. So of course Maccabi won 73-67. Cenk got another DNP. Bynum had 10 pts, 5 ast, 4 to, 3 reb in 22:47. Batista played 17:13 and had 14 pts & 4 reb. box score
  19. The reason it most likely wouldn't work is because many players & fans most likely wouldn't respect a european coach, it has little to do with playing style in my opinion, D'Antoni's "european" playing style works rather well, doesn't it?
  20. Svetislav Pesic, just buy him out, he would do it, he already tried in the past to get a foot into the NBA. Titles: 1x Yugoslav league 1x Yugoslav cup 1x Korac Cup (old format of ULEB Cup) 4x German league 2x German cup 2x Spanish league 1x Spanish cup 1x Euroleague 1x EuroCup 2x European championship 1x FIBA world championship If that alone doesn't make him better than Woody, then I don't know what does. But who am I kidding, we won't see any european coaches in the NBA for the next 10 years, if ever.
  21. Yesterday Efes (2-2) played at Mutlu Akü Selcuk Univ. (1-3) and won 89-67. Cenk played a grand total of 2:38, had 3 rebounds and a turnover. box score
  22. Efes (0-1) just won 80-70 against Armani Jeans Milano (0-1) in the Euroleague. Cenk was on the bench for the whole game and did not play. There are rumours that Blatt wants to get another american player for the 2/3 so that he doesn't have to use Cenk in the Euroleague competition.
  23. So any guesses when he'll go to the bench because of foul trouble? I'd say after three minutes he should have 2 fouls.
  24. Quote: we need to bring cenk akoyl over to atlanta. Why? Do we need a new towel boy?
