  1. Escobar is only one year older than Lillibridge, are you sure that you're not mixing him up with another player?
  2. It's been what 3 years or so since we drafted Akyol and Sekou still doesn't know, that Akyol never played PG? I'm sorry that's kinda bad research, if my job is writing and knowing everything about a certain team, then I should make sure that I make my research on all parts of the team. I know that White is a free agent and there were rumours that he'll sign with ALBA Berlin, hmm maybe he's getting another chance in the NBA and that's why he hasn't signed with ALBA.
  3. So Bibby had worse stats than Lue and AJ, interesting. :laughing5:
  4. I guess that's why James scored twice as many points as Miles while they played together (he also had more assists, rebounds and shot a better percentage while Miles was still starting), but hey I believe you, after all you're a scout.
  5. Lol, maybe you should stop doing drugs.
  6. http://www.nba.com/media/jazz/2008_team_cume_stats.pdf
  7. Yes they'll most likely play for the same team, but he gained A LOT of weight and is clearly not NBA material.
  8. Depends on the league. In Germany you have to have 3 Germans on the 12 man gameday roster, they don't have to play though. In Russia there is a foreigner limit (I think 5 or 6 are allowed to be on the gameday roster) and a certain number of Russians (I believe 2 or 3) always have to be on the court. Most other leagues (if not all) have some kind of foreigner limit too, but I don't really keep up with it and I don't know if there is still a difference made between European foreigners and non-EU foreigners. Euroleague doesn't have a non-EU foreigner limit anymore.
  9. Yeah how dare these European fuckers sign good American players, I say bomb them!!!
  10. I doubt either one will come over, if they wanted to play in the NBA then they would've already done it (also Papaloukas already signed with a new team). Plus they most likely saw how other experienced Euros (Kutluay, Macijauskas, Jasikevicius) got treated more or less like rookies in NBA, whether that treatment was fair or not, they most likely would not enjoy to get the same treatment.
  11. Quote: I thought Papaloukas was the starter... I guess he'll play the same role he played at CSKA and that's coming from the bench but still playing over half of the game, the more important the game the more he'll play. What the top Euro teams seem to do is that they get 8-10 players of nearly the same caliber and play each of them 24-16 minutes, so it becomes totally unimportant who begins the game. Quote: BD, who are the primary scorers on that team? During Euroleague last year their top scorers were Greer (16.3), Marc Jackson (15.1) and Arvydas Macijauskas (14.8, but played in only 12 games), Jackson was released before the playoffs started and Macijauskas left. In the greek league their top scorers were Jackson (15.7), Greer (12.3) and Bourousis (9). This year I guess their top scorer will be Greer or Childress followed by Halperim and one of the bigs. But then again in Europe it doesn't really matter who scores the points, in last years Euroleague scoring Top 20 there were 5 players that scored below 13 points a game. Looking at Childress' comments it doesn't seem like they hired him to be the top scorer: Quote: "I assumed that I'd have to go average 20, 22 points a game here," he explains. "But the Euroleague MVP most years averages like 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists. It's an award that the guy who actually helps his team win the most wins. ... My coaches here just want me to be versatile, and to play four positions, and to help the team win as many ways as I can." Quote: What style offense do they run, and how are their PGs? Passers or scorers (or both)? Both Teodesic and Papaloukas aren't deadly shooters, they can score when it is needed but their strength is passing and controlling/organizing the game. Papaloukas is the experienced one who's seen and won it all while Teodesic is the young one who's still getting better but can already hold his own at the international level. Since it's a greek team I guess their style will be rather slow and physical, but since they have a lot of new players I'd rather take the wait and see approach before talking about their style.
  12. I know that no one watches them, it's just a thread to give updates on Childress (I guess at least some people don't hate him now and would be interested in how he's doing over there in Greece) like I did with Cenk Akyol for the first half of last season.
  13. Now that they have one of our RFAs I think it'll be interesting to see how they play this upcoming season and if Childress can help them win the various competitions. Their roster should look kinda like this: PG Teodosic/Papaloukas/Milosevic SG Halperin/Greer/Pelekanos SF Childress/Vassilopolous PF Vujcic/Printezis/Erceg C Boroussis/Schortsianitis/Vougioukas That's quite a good squad for European standards, especially the 1-3 positions look strong. In greek league and greek cup competition their strongest opponents should be their main rival Panathinaikos, Aris and Panionios. Their Euroleague group includes the following teams: Maccabi Tel Aviv (ISR) Unicaja Malaga (SPA) Cibona Zagreb (CRO) Le Mans (FRA) Avellino (ITA) Olympiakos should win their group or at worst finish second.
  14. Thanks. But Sund and the ASG are so slow that they would've needed until December to fax the trade papers to the league office anyway, so Mason could've been very well included in the trade. Mahinmi is their french center that they parked in the D-League for most of last year.
  15. If it was the Spurs I hope they only offered total crap cause I think they actually have some cheap players that could've been useful to us. Something like Oberto or Mason (+ Udoka or Mahinmi, depending on Chillz contract) would've worked with Chillz BYC status right?
  16. I don't know how credible this guy is, but what he writes is in conflict with an earlier report that said, that no other team offered Childress even the MLE. The article features some quotes from Childress about playing in Greece, so I guess it has to be somewhat true. Quote: [...] According to Josh Childress, there were championship-contending NBA teams that were willing to pay him more than the Hawks would. A sign-and-trade couldn't be worked out, so Childress was stuck. [...] Link
  17. Quote: Ruben [Patterson] was actually angry that Melo was starting over him. George Karl's practices generally go at 50%-75% speed. Ruben, trying to prove that he should start over Anthony, went at 100% and almost hurt him. Melo finally got sick of it and went 100% too. It resulted in him dunking on Ruben several times in succession as well as scoring from everywhere. Ruben then tried to fight him. After that, Karl put Ruben on someone else. Note to Ruben: Don't try to hurt the franchise player. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, one more story. The Nuggets thought if they could give Ruben a jumper, he would be terrific. AD was tasked with giving Ruben an offensive game. Ruben told him to **** off, that no one could stop his drive and who did Adreian Dantley think he was? Please not.
  18. Exactly, in Europe it differs from league to league. The reason NBA Euros are labeled as soft is because NBA teams don't draft Euros for their toughness, rebounding or defense but because of their shooting and their size combined with that shooting. America produces enough tough players, that's why the though Euros stay in Europe (they would be too slow and unathletic for the NBA anyway).
  19. Are you guys serious??? The number 1 reason Euro teams sign American players is because of their athleticism, they have enough Euro guys that can pass and shoot, that's why teams with a slower more traditional style often have less Americans (and more Balkan players) than teams with a faster style. Many American players say that the play in Europe is more physical so I doubt Smith would get in foul trouble because of his "banging and dunking".
  20. Quote: Or it should be like soccer and Olympiakos(sp?) should have to pay us a multi million dollar exhange fee for Childress' service. You don't pay transfer fees for players without a contract, they can go wherever they want to go for free.
  21. Delfino already signed in Russia.
  22. Quote: No, Nachbar made specific references to being able to make more than the MLE in Europe. He's more than a minimum-level player, too. I talked about MOST Euros, not Nachbar.
  23. Quote: Quote: Quote: Nachbar has actually SIGNED...wow, whats going on? linky poo So what? A european signed with a team from europe. big deal. I think the point was that he didn't have to sign with a Euro team. Most Euros sign with a Euro team because they can't make a NBA roster. No, most Euros sign with a Euro team because they're fed up with their NBA role or because they would only get paid the minimum.
  24. Quote: The same league where NBA rejects like Scoonie Penn and Hanno Mattola are successful? Scoring 7 points/sitting on the bench is being successful?
