  1. I was at the Miami game last week and I was shocked how the Hawks didn't exploit the matchup of Deng vs. Millsap in the paint. Deng is still a decent defender but he's not a post defender. I also can't believe that McRoberts played like Wilt Chamberlain in that game too!
  2. I wouldn't mind them cutting another player and getting another legit big and KMart or JJ (if he's actually bought out)
  3. Seriously, Green and David West for Horford wouldn't be horrible if we had another deal in place to bring in a true center (Dwight, Lopez, etc...). Not sure how we'd pull that off without including Al, but Green solves a long-term need (starting SF with size, plays good defense, and knows the system).
  4. Thank you. I was having a brain lapse and couldn't think of what it was called. As for Larry Sanders business. He has a pot farm and distribution network he's trying to get going. Only problem is he keeps breaking the first rule of that business.
  5. Isn't there a deadline in the NBA for season ending injuries and salary/roster relief or am I wrong on that? If so, when is it? Since our roster stands at 15, it would help us not to waive anyone should we bring back more players than sending out in a potential deal
  6. How would everyone feel about Teague for Jordan and George Hill? That helps our rebounding and gives us a backup PG that has played in the Spurs system that is actually a good spot up 3pt. shooter. Teague is definitely a superior PG than Hill, but would getting Jordan Hill along with him be enough for us? It works in the trade machine.
  7. He's not the most skilled big, but I like his hustle.
  8. It didn't specify, but when it comes to Philly, they probably want anything of value. Maybe THJ or a 2nd rounder?
  9. Bleacher Report reported each team's "most likely to be traded" candidates and listed the Sixers' Robert Covington. He's an active SF that is big and plays pretty good defense and has shot the 3 well enough to respect his shot. He's only making $1 million this season. Could he be the type of small move that could possibly move the needle for the Hawks? Another player on that list was the Pacers Jordan Hill, who's having a nice season and rebounds well. He's only making $4.0 million this season and could be another "under the radar" kind of move that would help if Splitter is out for the year.
  10. This isn't a rumor, but this thread is so convoluted, but this works in trade checker and seems to make some sense for both teams..... Millsap, Bazemore, Splitter, and Teague for Howard, Lawson, Ariza, and Motiejunas Why ATL does it: Fixes biggest need in rebounding and gives us more length on the wing. Ariza is a big 3 and D guy. Lawson gives you PG depth and he has played at a very high level before. I believe his contract is not guaranteed next season. Howard also gives you a post presence Atlanta doesn't currently have consistently, although Howard's moves in the post are not Olajuwonesque. Motie is a 7 footer than can shoot the 3. Tell me that doesn't fit Bud's system. Why HOU does it: They need something to change there. Locker room is out of control and good character guys come in. They automatically improve PG play (although Harden is most likely the problem there) and get a smaller replacement for Ariza in Bazemore. Schröder/Lawson/Mack Korver/Hardaway/Holliday Ariza/Sefalosha/Patterson Horford/Scott/Muscala Howard/Motiejunas/Tavares Teague/Beverly/Terry Harden/Thornton/McDaniels Bazemore/Brewer/Dekker Millsap/Jones/Harrell Capela/Splitter/Smith
  11. Why does Houston want Teague? They have Beverly and Lawson or is one of them hurt?
  12. Out of all the scenarios I've seen, probably one of the most logical ones was Horford for Deng and Whiteside. All are on expiring deals and Horford and Bosh would be good side by side (both are stretch 4/5 and Whiteside gives us a legit center and long SF. Inter-divisional trades almost never happen, but I thought it was at least interesting. Think of the defensive lineup we could run out there with that though.... Bazemore, Sefalosha, Deng, Millsap, Whiteside Dudes couldn't get off a shot with that length!
  13. I think he should be our "instant offense" off the bench. I'm ok with the starting unit being: Teague, Korver, Bazemore, Millsap and Horford with a second unit of Schröder, Hardaway Jr, Sefalosha, Muscala (or Scott), and Splitter.
  14. I like Jonathan Holmes, but that's solely based on the fact it would be cool for the Hawks to have a guy names "Jon Holmes" on their team.
  15. I'm not advocating spending that on Carroll, but merely showing a comparison of what salaries are like 2 years ago vs. what they'll look like 2 years from now. It's a different environment. With a salary cap that is expected to jump almost 30 million when the new TV deal kicks in means players will start making a lot more than they used to. If Sap makes the same thing as LeBron, you can bet it will ONLY be for one year because LeBron will be one of those $30+ million per year guys when this all takes place.
  16. Everyone needs to stop comparing the "old NBA contracts" with thew new NBA contracts. $15 million is a ridiculous amount, but the new superstar guys are going to be making $30 million+ per year! If the old superstar level was $18-$22 million, who wouldn't have thought twice about giving a guy like Carroll $9-$11 million per? It's a new day y'all.
  17. I think THJ is cheap offense off the bench. That's not a bad thing. The fact that we drafted two other euro stashes tells me we're saving our $ for either re-signing Carroll and Millsap or going for a big fish. I'm not crazy about the deal, but I'm also not thinking it's the end of the world. I'll reserve my judgement until after the games actually start and we see how it all plays out.
  18. Honestly, I hope the Cavs go with thhat 4 wing offensive set. I think that plays well into our team's strengths. Remember how well Paul defended Melo last season? He's not like most 4's where he doesn't have the quickness to match LeBron. He certainly can match his physicality. Both Irving and Smith are weak defenders so that means we'll have mismatches at both guard positions. Shumpert vs. Carroll is a wash for us on offense but a net gain on defense. Al can draw Mozgov away from the basket so you negate his rim protection. As clueless as Blatt has been about coaching, maybe I shouldn't have laid all that out for him to read here. He might change his gameplan.
  19. In all fairness, Al stole that rebound from Nene. It looked to me Nene had the ball and Al just ripped it from him in mid-air. He wanted it more than anyone else on that court and that's why Al is our leader and Boss!
  20. I don't think Jeff's on the same level as Curry, but to Diesel's point, Curry's struggled this series big time. He hasn't shot it well and hasn't exactly been a quality facilitator for his teammates. Because of his regular season, people are giving him a pass.
  21. If we score less points than them, we'll almost certainly lose.
  22. Technically, you can go 16-12 and still win a title so I don't care about being beatable. The mighty Warriors proved they can lose at home last night against the Grizzlies team they were supposed to roll over easily. Had they not went ice cold from deep (which is all they shot in the 2H of Game 1), this series would essentially be over. Ramon Sessions gave them similar offensive production to what John Wall would've given them. Since Teague nor Schröder were dominating, his defense wasn't as sorely missed as if Teague would've went off for 20/10.
  23. My weekend long run got moved up again to tonight. The wife is going to dinner and a movie with some friends so I'll be able to have the 1st half DVR'd before I get the kids to bed and can run on the treadmill. I can skip all the commercials and timeouts. Woo Hoo!
