  1. The upcoming lockout will further damage the leagues image. And there will be a lockout during the summer but games will start as scheduled in November.
  2. Thanks for the update Jay. As I reported yesterday, Chris is out for the remainder of the season. He knew when he came down that his knee wasn't there and something was seriously wrong. His MRI was scheduled for 2:30 and he found out immediately that he would not be able to play this season. Last night Chris was saying that in spite of this latest setback he was not ready to quit and would come back. If not with the Hawks, he hopes to sign somewhere else.
  3. Chris Crawford's MRI showed a torn ACL and miniscus. You med guys know what I mean. Or as Chris put it, it's F... up! The surgery will be in VanCouver. And rehab should be about 6 months. He's not quitting and hoping to be back next summer.
  4. Saddi Washington played college ball at Western Michigan University. If I remember right, he's a fairly decent player but I don't remember details.
  5. Look for Hendu to either retire or have his contract bought out. He still has back issues and will not play this year.
  6. Ok, so you're saying thatif CC played on a really good team he couldn't put up decent numbers? He averaged 19 ppg as a starter and that was against some of the better teams. Do you really believe Harrington can do this? CC has never had the chance partly because of his injuries to show us his best but when he's healthy we can't do much better for the money. We could resign him for what he's making now which would be a bargain. Harrignton hasn't shown anything that CC can't do. If we are going after talent sign someone better than what we have. CC is a bargain and we should keep him for the same amount of money. Let's not eat up cap space to get mediocre talent. To say Harrington is better is SO WRONG.
  7. Sura is a turnover machine. He makes bad shot choices and for all the good he does he blows it with stupid plays. He can't find the open man most of the time and passes to a select few players. He reminds me of my daughter's team when she played at the 4th grade level by passing to only players they liked. Let some other team have Sura, we don't need him!
  8. You're funny. Trying to create a hot topic but no one will take the bait. Why? Because we all know your thoughts on CC and we've been there, done that.
  9. I think Stotts doesn't feel he will help the team. When Hendu was activated either someone would be released or someone had to go on the IR. Hawks management cannot force a healthy player to go on the IR and Dickau refused. My point is Dan was asked to go on the IR. I think they simply don't want to play him.

    Rediculous

Hendu was in Indiana with his sick mother but is back with the team. He will be out indefinately due to a back sprain. The Hawks don't want to put either Hundu or Hanson on the IR because by signing anyone else will most likely put them over the salary cap. The Hawks are going to try to go with what they have.
  11. I hate it when we have a game with the Hawks announcers.
  12. I hate it when we have a game with the Hawks announcers. They are the worst!
  13. I hear that Stotts told CC that he would get a lot of playing time this year. I don't know if that means he will start but if healthy he can definately make an impact on the team.
  14. We're praying. And we will keep on praying. Be strong for your sister but it's ok to show emotion. In fact. you should. It will help her to understand that you are hurting too and you need to be there for each other. Hug her, hold her and listen. She needs that probably more than anything. It's all in God's hands and don't feel guilty for what you can't control. Stay strong. You have a lot of friends praying for you and your family. Let us know what we can do to help.
  15. If I remember right, she's a preemie. Having gone through that I understand. It takes a lot of prayer and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that your sister and niece are in our prayers. Miracles can happen with these little guys. My son is one of them. We Will all pray alot because so much of this is out of our hands. Please keep us informed. Thanks
  16. I guess I want to say "I told you so". The deal with McDavid took too long and it was obvious many issues were not resolved. Don't get too excited about the new deal because this deal isn't done until the papers are signed and I learned a long time ago anything can happen. But this does sound like a done deal. Let's hope so. We can finally move forward and try to put a roster together. Then we can debate who starts and who comes off the bench. We need to put a team together quickly and hopefully a contender. If this sale is for real we can finaly make offers, trades, and sign contracts. Something we couldn't do with all the sale negotiations. We might not like the direction for this year but at least something is happening and we can finally put a team together.
  17. So you think McDavid knew everything financial about the team when he signed the letter of intent. I went through a similar situation last year about this time and I learned a whole lot about the process and that the deal isn't done until the papers are signed and anything can happen. The company I worked for had a letter of intent from a potential buyer. Many factors needed to be worked out, not just putting up money. Agreements had to be made with Ford, GM, and Northrup Grumman. The city had to consider tax abatements. In house contracts had to be approved by the United Postal Service, UPS and FedEx. In other words, there were so many factors beyond signing on the dotted line and handing over money. It dragged on for months. We kept hearing that things were being ironed out. And one of the "ironed out" issues was for the company to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy before the sale so the new company would not acquire the enormous debts of the company. The major corporations had agreed and we had passed the big hurdles. Millions of dollars were involved and the sale was just weeks away from being finalized. At the 11th hour the letter of intent was withdrawn. It came down to 6 million that couldn't be agreed upon. After 6 months we were at square one. By the way, this was the 2nd letter of intent to be offered and withdrawn in the last year. What I am saying, is that there are so many factors in the sale of a company this size. (The company I worked for wasn't nearly this large.) So many parties are involved and all issues are not realized, addressed or resolved before the letter of intent is offered. ANYTHING can happen. An outside influence can make or break this sale and it isn't always going to be what's best for the company. In fact, I lot of time it's not. Let's just hope this sale doesn't end up like the company I worked for.
  18. Me too because I don't have a job after 18 years with this company.
  19. I'm in the position to have "big ears". In other words listen to what is said but don't ask questions. What I hear is that JTprobably won't be offered a big contract this year, Glover and DJ are talking with other teams and there is no real activity with the Hawks at this time. That's not to say they won't sign contracts, but if they do they will not be significant. As far as the sale of the Hawks I have this to say. I worked for a company last year that went thru a similar situation. Everything was on hold and contigent on the new owners. We we told the sale would be final by Thanksgiving, then the end of the year would be a clean break, and then things couldn't be ironed out so it would be February. When February came we were told 2 weeks. We got word at that time that the sale fell through. Evidently everything had been agreed upon with the exception of one issue. But that issue equated to millions and the company withdrew their offer. We were back to square one after being in limbo for months. In other words, this sale is not final until the papers are signed and anything can go wrong. the thing that I find scary and identical to the Hawks is the length of the sale. I think there must be real issues yet undecided and I don't feel comfortable at all about having new owners soon.

    Which Hawk....

Would make the best movie star? Dan Dickau Would make the best rapper? Dion Glover Would make the best soccer player? Boris Diaw (The closest thing we have to a foot fairy, at least that's what my kid's call them) Would make the best football player? Ratliff, wide receiver maybe?) Would make the best baseball player? Chris Crawford (I think he played baseball for the Houston Astros farm system before signing with the Hawks) Would make the best hockey player? Chris Crawford (He played hockey before basketball) Would make the best television commentator? Alan Henderson, he's well spoken)
  21. JT will be offered a 1 year contract. Teams are not fighting over him and his worth in the league is not what he hoped it to be. They will sign him for a year and he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. We will have lots of cap room to better the team. He may get a multi-year contract then, but I really don't look for a major contract for him this season.
  22. Glad to hear everyone is ok. My son was the same weight when he was a week old. It was hard watching him every day without being able to hold him much. The hospital he was in told us to use his due date as a target for when he might be ready to come home. They don't necessarily have to be 5 lbs. They just need to be able to maintain their own temperature and be fed on demand (theirs) and gain weight. I learned it's not instinctive to suck and swallow. My son came home 5 weeks before his due date weighing a whopping 4 1/2 lbs. The really hard part is leaving the hospital without your baby. Bonding is rough but once she's home everything will be ok. Give your sister a lot of support, she'll need it! And you are all in my prayers.
  23. I haven't been online for a few days. I'm glad to hear your sister is doing better. 16 years ago my son was born at 28 weeks. He weighed in @ 2lbs. 6ozs. He's 6'3" and doing great now but it was such a sacry thing to go through. A lot of prayers from a lot of people helped, I'm sure. We didn't have all the problems your sister did but doctor's know what they are doing and if it's meant to be the they'll make it happen. Your family is in our prayers.
  24. I was recently employed by a company that went through this same process. They originally told us it would be 3 months. Then another month because the financials were taking longer, then it was close to the first of the year and the idea was to start new then, and after that it was the first of February, and then the second week in February, just before the final hour a particular term couldn't come to agreement. The company backed out. We waited for more than 6 months for this deal to be completed for nothing. My point here is that there is so much rheteric and agreements from outside parties, including rights to logos, contracts, intellectual property that no how good a deal looks it's not done until the papers are signed and the deal can fall apart in the very last hour. I;ve seen it happen. Oh, by the way, because of all this, I no longer have a job.
