Guys, if we need a SF, Chris Jefferies is the guy

that I think we should go for. After doing my research and ultimately choosing him for New Jersey with the 24th pick, he is the perfect player for us. Good offensive game, averaging

17.3 Points Per Game

6.3 Rebounds Per Game

3.1 Assists Per Game

1.2 Blocks Per Game

1.2 Steals Per Game

He was routinely put on the best offensive player from the other team by Tark and you could stamp "LOCKDOWN" on him. Many scouts and GMs in the NBA are saying that he may be the next Scottie Pippen. He specializes in playing in the open court and slashing to the basket. He shot 42% last year overall and 35% from 3 pt land. Those are very comparable to another lockdown defender named Battier that most of us really want. This is a guy that we could get because he will be taken at the end of the first most likely, where some teams looking for cap room will be willing to trade their pick for a future pick.

Then I would agree about the comparisons to Pippen.

A defensive specialist is not someone that should be allocated long term cap resources.

Stacey Augmon was/is a brilliant defender, but clearly his overall game was overrated and a lottery draft was wasted on that skill.

We also acquired a "defensive stopper" in Newble and it's not likely to cost us the same 3-yr guarantee that Jeffries will likely get from a first round pick.

I don't know enough about Chris to effectively say whether or not his game will be worth the three year contract, but I do know that if it's not any better than Stacey, Ira, or Tariq Abdul-Wahad, it's not likely to be worth it.

.....that is causing him to drop. He and Rod Grizzard are suffering the same thing. They are both injured, so they can't workout for teams. Both players are dropping like stones in the draft because of this. Grizzard isn't that great to begin with anyway.

back when we stole him. Getting Jefferies at the end of round 1 would be a steal, maybe even beginning of round 2, depending on whether or not the playoff teams want cap space and decide to go for foreign projects instead of college ballers. I am not convinced though that we can get a good player with long term potential in round 2 this year. This is such a deep draft, we have gotten lucky in that aspect.
