Gray Mule
Play great until the second quarter is almost over. Go to sleep. Wake up about a third of the way thru the third quarter. Find that, while you slept, the nice lead that you had is now a nice lead for the opposition. Match the opposition, point for point, for the remainder of the game. This is the formula that has brought defeat, game after game. When this is happening, the entire team, coaching staff and everyone involved has turned the famous saying around and got the predictible results. "Don't just stand there, do something!" Becomes: "Don't do something, just stand there!" Doesn't seem to matter who is on the floor or what is said or done, it happens so often that it has become the signature of this Hawk team. Being out of position comes easy now. Turnovers -- Missed shots -- No rebounds -- All for the sleepwalking five who are simply there to take up space. And we thought we had basketball players in the Hawks uniforms and we would do O.K. this season. Guess we were mistaken about that too. During this sleep walk, a good WNBA team could tear the Hawks apart and bury them -- So sad.
Gray Mule
Old habits are hard to break.. J.T. says "It's a long season."-- but time is slipping away. "Like the sands of the hour glass, so are the days of our life." T.V. soap opera -- Sounds a lot like the Hawks. One of our faitful here recently posted that the team listened to the coach during time out, then didn't do anything that Lon told them -- and we blame the coach for what is happening. If they won't listen, set them on the bench until they do. "Team." That is the concept that seems to have escaped this bunch of individual players. When they drop the individual play and start team play, things will start to turn around, otherwise "Doom, despair and agony on me." It's "Us" against "Them" and not the individual.
