where we were when phoenix sold its first round pick, with rondo still on the board? that kid would be nice to have around, especially if speedy gets hurt (again).

did we not have the available cash? were we asleep?

I do believe that Knight tried for that pick but the Suns turned him down and chose to deal with Boston. If you were the Suns and owned a pick from a team that could be as high as #4 - would you help them get better??

Exactly. The Suns definitely didn't want us to get the pick and use it on Rondo with our desire for a young pg.

ok that makes some sense.

as much as they valued that pick when the time came to draft, it makes you think the deal for joe surely didnt depend on including it. we sure could have used it - they didnt need it.

BK said that the suns turned down an offer from the Hawks that he felt was actually better than what Boston offered. It sounds like Pheonix either didn't want to help the Hawks get better or else didn't want to turn around and give us our pick right back, but either way I do think we tried to grab Rondo.
