CBAreject
As kawakami and Charlie Morton are having horrific years for the books, I began wondering who has had the worst season ever for a pitcher. Records aren't so interesting, because they're heavily based on luck. I found this article online (linked below) and have now come to believe that the worst season ever for a pitcher was had in 2005 by Jose Lima, where he posted a 6.99 ERA in 32 starts for the KC Royals, going 5-16. What's so impressive is that the Royals let him start 32 games with an ERA of 7. He's also arguably the worst starting pitcher of all time, when you consider both how awful he was and how long he was awful. The article below also makes a good case for Kevin Jarvis, who was pretty incredibly awful himself. DJlaysitup
I don't know about "all time" but Kawakami is certainly a contender in the "really really bad" category this year. Along those lines - I hear Mike Hampton is trying to make a comeback :lighter: (not)
