Under former coach Mike Woodson, the Atlanta Hawks had a very set rotation that didn't change very much from game to game. Josh Powell is a great example of how unpredictable at times the rotations for the Hawks were this season under Larry Drew. Powell began the year getting significant minutes as a regular part of the rotation. At one point he was playing more than Zaza Pachulia. Towards the end of the season though Powell was out of the rotation once again.

For the season Powell appeared in 54 games while averaging just over 12 minutes per contest. In comparison, he played in 63 games with the Lakers last season but only averaged around nine minutes of playing time. Powell finished the season with averages of 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Powell was brought in to bring championship experience while also adding another big body to the Hawks front line. His play was solid at times but was never anything to get terribly excited about. Powell's $854,000 salary comes off the books this season and perhaps could be an option for the team again next season. Perhaps his value goes beyond his numbers as he was a very well liked player with the Lakers and he seemed to have a good relationship within the Atlanta locker room.
