Picking Up Talent From Tax Teams: 2017 Offseason

After resigning Hardaway, Illy and Sap, improving the team will take some creativity. That said, a quick scan around the league shows a handful of teams that will be in tax HELL next season. The Raptors and Clippers are good teams that will pay the tax (the Clippers tax bill will be ridiculous), while the Blazers and Pistons will be well in the tax on borderline playoff teams.

So the question is, what can we poach from other teams using our trade exceptions, or perhaps even in a Bazemore deal where we take on an extra $5M in salary?

Examples:

Bazemore/Kelly for Carroll/Joseph, we get a solid backup G and a legit 3 who can maybe recapture his mojo in our system, while giving Toronto a decent replacement and shedding some salary. We could probably even snag a pick out of it.

The Blazers and Pistons have some interesting pieces, as do the Clippers. Maybe we could sneak Speights or Vonleh in with one of our TPEs.
