Aggressive Off-season by Knight Needed

Here is my suggested plan (all steps necessary):

1. Trade JT, Travis Hensen, the 35th and 43rd pick to Seattle for Jerome James and (4.5 million left on contract this year), 36th pick and their 1st Round pick next year.

2. Trade Alan Henderson and the 38th pick to Phoenix for Jahidi White (5.9 mil this year), Howard Eisley (13.4 mil over 2 years) and their 1st Round pick next year.

2 1/2. Hire Michael Cooper -- former Laker with 3 rings with emphasis on defense and uptempo offense.

3. Sign Kobe Bryant to max contract:

04-05 $14,175,000

05-06 $15,592,500

06-07 $17,010,750

07-08 $18,427,500

08-09 $19,845,000

09-10 $21,262,500

Avg each year is 17.5

4. Sign Kenyon Martin to semi-max contract (more than NJ would give him): start him at 12.5 and give the annual 10% increase of 6 years (about 98 over 6 years: 14 mil in 05-06, etc)

5. Leave Chris Crawford for Expansion Draft - he will be taken - 1 year contract and scrappy player.

6. Draft Josh Smith from Atlanta (will be crowd favorite) at #7 AND Jameer Nelson at #17.

7. Sign Kenny Anderson to 1 year deal worth 1 mil (like he did for Indy this year).

2004/2005

PG - Kenny Anderson/Jameer Nelson/Howard Eisley

SG - Kobe Bryant/Boris Diaw

SF - Josh Smith/36th Pick this year

PF - Kenyon Martin/Jahidi White

C - Jerome James/Jason Collier/David Anderson

Why would Kenyon and Kobe want to do this? First, this would be a very competitive team in the east (definitely playoffs next year) and they get paid. Secondly, with Smith and Nelson (young studs) with 4 1st round picks (3 of mediocre teams - Seattle, Philly, Phoenix) in 2005/06 and the ending contracts of James and White (trade bait at trade deadline this year to teams out of it), this is a team posed for dominance.

Thoughts!
