  1. I have been calling for Turner since last year. Hopefully the Falcons come through. I love McFadden, but being able to use that top pick on a lineman would be ideal.
  2. Quote: That's not how the NFL works. Trades are generally for low round picks. Player swaps of close to equal value are very rare. Look at Moss for a 6th rounder. Believe me, it wasn't just me that knew he would blow up on that team. Yet, not one team stepped up with a 4th or 5th rounder. 30 teams declined to offer a 5th rounderr for Moss. Amazing, but that's the way it is. Don't expect much for a piece of human toast like DeAngelo Hall. It was a 4th rounder and I'm sure several GMs would have been willing to give up more if they thought he'd respond like he did. I don't know where you're getting this "trades are generally for low round picks" when the trade involves a player like DeAngelo Hall. Hall is the best young CB in the game and a Hall of Fame talent. We gave up the 15th pick of the draft for John Abraham. Chargers gave up a second rounder for Chris Chambers.
  3. Quote: Not really. It just takes more than giving a few minutes of energy over a season to get me excited over a player. Again, there is a reason nobody other than the people on this board seem to think Mario is anything special. He is not very good or very skilled. That's why he doesn't get to play and that's why he probably wouldn't be in the NBA if it wasn't for the Hawks. Mario has supplied almost 200 minutes of energy this year. I can't remember him ever being on the floor and me thinking, "Wow, I wish Woody would bench him." I don't think anyone is really excited with him, they just realize that he should be a part of this team for several minutes, not a few seconds. If you disagree then I have to ask if you have seen him play.
  4. An argument against McFadden would be because of how bad our OL and DL are, but not because of Norwood. I love him, but he's a career number 2 guy IMO.
  5. That trade makes absolutely zero sense. If we part with Hall, it better be for a decent pick and a good young player. He's too young and too good to just swap him for a pick alone.
  6. Quote: I'm just talking a good defender who can provide a lot of energy and hustle plays, nothing more. 8-10 minutes a night would be fine by me. (not just blow outs and the last seconds of a quarter) Once players or teams see him more... His so called great defense could get exposed. He is an unknown player right now. A guy like Ron Artest might simply not know how to attack him yet. If he guarded Ron for a real length I'm sure Ron would destroy him. You're really reaching now.
  7. It's really pathetic how sad the East is that I can be an Atlanta Hawks fan and witness the way they play on an almost nightly basis and never feel discouraged about the playoffs.
  8. Quote: Or at least hit the rim from four feet....but I do agree he is an asset to our team - defensively and energy-wise. What about Joe having a wide open layup after hitting a couple of 3's and missing it? How many layups have Smith and Marvin missed? And they aren't extremely inexperienced rookies. Just like some people get too excited, some people expect way too much. Quote: He is an above average defender and a great leaper. I guess it all looks good in 8 or 10 minutes. But Mario West is likely no better than an Ira Newble. The people here tend to fall in love with the 12th 13th men on the roster. This isn't the first time. I don't think he has anywhere near the potential that some people here. If he gets more minutes, I'm sure everybody will start seeing why he is lucky to even be on an NBA roster. I'm just talking a good defender who can provide a lot of energy and hustle plays, nothing more. 8-10 minutes a night would be fine by me. (not just blow outs and the last seconds of a quarter)
  9. Quote: Because he is an untalented (by NBA standards) scrub. He provided a good 3 or 4 minute lift and didn't impact the rest of the game. No need to cream in your pants. He is an above average defender and a great leaper. His offense could use some work, but he isn't a scrub by any means. He was on the floor for almost 8 minutes in the first quarter where he scored 7 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and held Artest (who murdered us last game) to 3 points. That was the longest stretch of real minutes he has played in his NBA career and he performed very well. He only got 8 minutes the rest of the game and he missed a couple of floaters, but he got a good look around the rim which is the hardest part. With more play time that he'll get a better feel for the offense and those shots will start going in more frequently.
  10. Quote: Didn't look all to great after that hot start. How much consistency can you expect from a rookie who only gets to play the last 2 seconds of a quarter? Our team looks lazy and uninspired too often for a guy like Mario to waste away on the bench. He can be a spark plug on offense and defense. He still played good D and go to the rim, he just was a little off.
  11. Quote: Quote: There's no longer any need for Salim. It is SO PAST TIME to trade the guy for someone off the bench you can use. Surely there has to be a WC playoff team that wants a situational shooter like Salim. The Hawks are going to need a 3rd (vet) PG, I'm afraid. What would any team give us for Salim?? a 2015 2nd round pick? Deal!
  12. Why even include all the players? Zaza, Lue and Shelden (to a lesser extent) are the only players who come close to qualifying. Even Zaza and Lue have their uses, but if I had to pick one it would be Zaza. He has been god awful this season. Little offense and defense + poor rebounding and turnovers =/= help.
  13. Yeah, Smitty's great. He obviously knows a lot about the game and I usually agree with him. I wish he'd feed information to Woodson on the sidelines sometimes.
  14. Smitty needs to widen his vocabulary. I'm going to start taking shots whenever he says "Good job ______ " or "Not at all Bob" or "THE CLOSA!" And LeBron is infinitely times better than Melo. The only players who can say they're better than LeBron are Kobe and Duncan.
  15. Hawks are 4-0 when West plays 10+ minutes. And in the Dallas game he was only in there for like one play and on that play he made Howard look as silly as he has ever looked dribbling the ball. Give the kid a chance at least until it becomes a problem. Especially in the games like last night when we have a hard time getting anything going. And I just noticed I was 10 days late from having an insane registration date.
  16. Don't forget AI said he would only go to a contender. Atlanta isn't exactly a hot spot for contending.
  17. Quote: We also didn't score for like 5 minutes in the 4th. So if we talked in the locker room for a few extra minutes we would've outscored them by more than 16 in the 3rd and played consistent ball throughout the fourth? You guys are definitely overrating half time. I've heard on several occasions in all sports where coaches don't say anything
  18. Didn't we outscore them by 16 in the 3rd quarter?
