  1. I just heard an analyst say that Shelden looked bad...not like a 5th pick. This is our 4 year starter. Good thing we didn't decide to take a player to develop.
  2. Yeah. Foye played GREAT defense, shot the ball well, and took it with ease to the rack. He outplayed Roy...BK just made his last mistake and I don't need the Rocky Mountain Revue to prove it. I just heard an NBA analyst that said that Deron Williams was doing it and that he is clearly the best player on the floor to include Marvin. Just reporting what I'm hearing. I predict Shelden will take awhile...Marvin will easily start. One of the Jazz players got tossed for fouling Marvin hard...for the second time. The player dragged Marvin by the jersey to the floor. 55-36 Jazz.
  3. 46-32 Jazz with 8:00 left in the 3rd...
  4. We are down 12 at the Half...Marvin looks decent. Shelden was said to be non-existent on both ends of the floor. Nice. I would expect that his offense would take a little time because he doesn't have much other than power...but the defense sounds disappointing. Regardless of how the summer league turns out with Shelden I realize that its just summer league. I also realize that this guy started 4 years and was supposed to step in a help right away. So if the summer league doesn't go particularly well for him...don't expect him to start for Marvin. Guys like Roy, Foye, Morrison, and Foye all did what they had to do in the summer. Careers aren't made in the summer. But looking poor in the summer is a sign that you have a guy that needs some time to develop. For the record I hated the pick because I wanted Foye...and I felt like Shelden couldn't just overpower NBA players like he did in the ACC. His low block moves aren't great. This will all play out..but don't expect 12 and 10 like some of you have predicted. And I could care less about his summer...he isn't ready for that and that was clear to the top 4 teams who never considered him for a nanosecond.
  5. Jazz 42 Hawks 27 Game is 30 seconds before the half. Our summer team isn't off to a rousing start.
  6. I just heard a 1st quarter score on the sports station...not good. Jazz 20 Hawks 10 That is after 1 quarter...not much offense. Next update at 10:10PM.
  7. Keith Van Horn absolutely sucks. He couldn't knock down an open J in the playoffs to save his life...or his job. Avery Johnson finally figured out in the last 7-8 playoff games that if the dude can't knock down an open J he can't help you. His defense is so bad you can't describe it, his rebounding is weak, he can't get to the rim anymore... Why do you think Cuban is waving bye bye...if he had ANY perceived value then Cuban would pay him a reduced contract and have him back. NO to KVH or any of those dogs. After the SNT with Al we are going to have our roster set for the coming season. Our numbers are already tight...why add a stiff that offers little help? Why do a deal for the sake of doing a deal? If you have to add a player then go get Marcus Banks...the kid is young, plays GREAT defense, and is on the rise. He can probably add some real value as a back-up PG...Lue has been hurt and we know what Claxton's injury record is...a FA that may make sense is Banks.
  8. Speedy plays good defense and we need better defense from the guard spot. Brevin is not as good a defender. I'm more excited about his defense than anything.
  9. Indy doesn't do that deal just for the sake of getting another forward. They want Harrington. They don't participate in that trade. That wouldn't go over very well with their fans...yeah, we will be the bit*h for you Golden State...Is there anything else we can do for you? That is a deal that has zero chance of happening.
  10. I went to 35 games last year and I didn't see many shots swatted in his face. What I did see was a guy who hustled his ass off and has the knack for knowing where the ball is going off the rim. Z has a lot of room to improve...but I like him on the team and believe that he brings some good things to the table.
  11. Z is just 22 and his defensive rebounding will improve. He already is a nice offensive rebounder. Give it a little time. We give Marvin, Smoove, and Chill time...why do people not give Z a little room? My gut says that we will love him with 1-2 years...he will get better at the defensive end with some experience...and his rebounding will improve.
  12. Jefferson will NEVER pan out. He can't even play decent in the summer league. Scalabrine is a top 5 bad contract not for length of contract but because he sucks. If he ever puts on a Hawks uniform I cancel my season tickets on the spot. Why do we want Jefferson and Scalabrine? That trade is a dog with fleas...if we are going to help Boston and Philly lets get some VALUE from this deal. Jefferson literally walks on every possesion...lucky the NBA only calls 25% of them. He is big hat no cattle...even C fans have given up on him. A great body with no basketball player in it.
  13. That sounds to good to be true...we are running out of spots with that deal.
  14. The only problem is that he doesn't fit the up tempo game as well as some. He is the best post player out there but can he run the floor if the Hawks want to push it? I think that Woody's future is going to be determined on how well we run...we have the athletes.
  15. I heard the quote on the radio this morning during a news break. It was like 10-15 seconds long and was a soundbite. It was just JJ talking about what the Hawks were trying to get done. My guess is that he is in the loop and was stating what he had heard. BK isn't going to say anything so the best way to learn what may happen is through other sources who may not have their guard up all the time. JJ was very specific in his pick and pop big man description. That's all I've got.
  16. I think Elson reached a deal with the Spurs last night...I am under the impression that the Nuggets are on the clock to match...
  17. Murphy doesn't fit the contract criteria unless Belkin signed off. He does pick and pop...he isn't the only one though. JJ certainly sounded like he was talking about an aquisition. He said we were looking for a big that could pick and pop. The "looking" part makes it seem for the AL deal.
  18. JJ was quoted in a brief interview as saying that we were in the process of acquiring a big guy who could "pick and pop"...He then described what he meant...a big guy who can set solid screens and then roll and knock down open jumpers. I heard the quotes on 790. So, who can pick and pop? Murphy comes to mind...I know that his contract is 5 years but he is certainly a pick and pop kind of guy. Biedrins? Maybe. Foster is not known for knocking down shots from outside maybe because he rarely shoots. Any opinions?
  19. Apparently, you weren't aware that Pietrus did take major minutes from Dunleavy last year...and got hurt for a decent amount of the season which hurt his numbers. Anybody who has watched Pietrus play knows that he defends well and puts the ball on the floor and attacks the rim...something Chill can't do in his biggest fantasy. Watch some tape on Pietrus and get back to me. The statement about NBA GM's wanting Chill over Pietrus is totally out of left field. It isn't true. Pietrus has a much greater upside because he is much further along in his offensive game. Does Chill shoot a better percentage? Yes. Because he only shoots layups on the break and wide open 3's...there is no part of Chill's game that includes putting the ball on the floor and creating his own shot. I like Chill...but he is a career role player. We also keep drafting forwards and pushing him deeper. I'm ready to get a player that is more versatile who can defend the 2 spot. Watch some tape on Pietrus and then tell me his offensive game is inferior.
  20. fanatic, I hear you on Pietrus but he is better than Childress because he defends better and he can actually create his own shot. I think that Chill might be traded with AL to help both clubs. Mullin needs a mini-makeover...not just AL. He promised the fans that big changes were coming. I think we may get a good size trade at the end of the day. Chill can't play 2 and we have too many 3's and 4's with him in the mix. Pietrus can play some 2...I wouldn't be shocked if we get Murphy, and one of Biedrins/O'Bryant/Pietrus...plus a #1...for Al and Childress. GS fits Chill like a glove as he gets back with his old coach and area. GS sucks...but they have some nice pieces that may fit nicely with us. It would look something like this: AL, Chill, Salim for Murphy Ellis/ Biedrins/O'Bryant #1 or Pietrus This is the type of deal that COULD happen. You never know.
  21. We aren't getting Foster, Harrison, AND a 1st. I don't think we even get Harrison. Foster, Anthony Johnson, and a 1st is more like it.
  22. ZaZa is 22 and could be a rookie this year. He put up better numbers than Bogut and is about the same age. Junk? Your showing some solid ignorance...does he have areas to improve? Yes. But he is 22...he is going to make Hawk fans pretty happy in the next couple of years. This is just like saying Marvin is a bust at 20. There are some people on this board that do basketball an injustice because they don't know their azz from their elbow. The kid is 22...not 30. Junk? Come on.
  23. Dunleavy is another SF...like we don't have enough of those? His contract sucks and he is soft as a babies bottom. The dude can't even shoot that well either. I want to deal with GS because they have some nice pieces and Chris Mullin is horrible and ready to be fleeced. This is the same GM that signed many of these guys to bad deals. Monta Ellis is who I want more than anybody and would take Murphy's contract to get him. Biedrins or O'Bryant might ne in a deal as well because the Warriors have 3 centers...I don't want Foyle for any reason. I wouldn't be shocked to see Childress included in the deal to alleviate our SF logjam...he would be playing for Montgomery again...and we could get a big and an Ellis.
