  1. It's hard to grab a board when Horford's in the game. The guy is a rebound hog.
  2. I think this is a great idea. Bruce.levenson@atlantaspirit.com is another email address. This crap has gone on long enough. Too bad the owners are just as clueless as Woody.
  3. actually Joe is stinking up the joint on a regular basis. He is clearly not the same player and has no fire at all. Joe is more than willing to shoot but defense is something he is not willing to play anymore. Joe called out the team and now they need to call him out. Joe plays like he is in a coma lately. This team certainly doesn't look like a playoff team. And Woodsons offense defies description. I have greatly tempered my hopes for this team.
  4. The formula hasn't taken into account the Woody factor. No simulation is complete without factoring in the incompetant head coach.
  5. I'd do it. But, Marvin and Richard J are very similar players. Doubt if Thorn bites on that one.
  6. This is exactly what I knew he would say. He can't say "Yeah, I'm just pissed, man. This 20M ain't enough for all the losing I'm doing. So, I decided to get a migraine and sit one out. They better get me somewhere else fast cause I'm feeling another one coming on." J-Kidd didn't miss the game because of a headache. Check his past and look at how many times he gutted out sickness and injuries. The dude played through cracked ribs. Ain't buying it.
  7. I don't think he knew that Adelman coached the Rockets. That's the only explanation for mentioning his name at this point.
  8. Quote: i think kidd just really wants a ring and is realizing he won't get it with new jersey. That maybe true bit it's a shame the way he crapped on his coach, teammates, and fans. The Nets are only paying this guy 20M a year so that the least he can do is show up and do his job. If he's unhappy he can try behind the scenes to force a trade. But just boycotting a game is ludicrous.
  9. Kidd needs an extension, huh? His 20M isn't enough for the next couple a years? He needs an extension...why would the Nets extend a player at his age, with his knees, with his back...when he still has a couple of years left on his deal? When the player is 37? J-Kidd is showing that his attitude is a little shaky. You know that whoever gets J-Kidd in a trade is going to have to extend him. If the reports are true, and I think they are by Rod Thorns reaction, Kidd will be traded soon. You can't have a guy willing to lose a game to make a point. He's as good as gone.
  10. J-Kidd would transform this team into the playoffs this year and maybe even the second round. Having a guy actually run our offense who knows what he's doing would absolutely transform us. But, what's the price tag? Again, this guy has maybe two good years left. His body's breaking a little now and the shelf life of a guard is shorter than a big man due to guards needing their quickness. But I would explore J-Kidd if I were BK because he immediately fills the seats and makes us a contender. I'm telling you this team is ready IF WE GET A GREAT PG.
  11. I'm sitting in my recliner at home with the remote in my hand. With these Hawks you need to keep the remote close because you never know when their going to crap all over themselves.
  12. Your right in that situations like with J-Kidd are ripe with opportunity. But, remember, our GM's M.O. is to sit on his ass and watch. He is in love with all of these young athletes that he has drafted ignoring our obvious lack of success. Golden St. would not trade all that for J-Kidd. J-Kidd is a nice short term piece that could put a team like the Cavs over the hump. But he has a bad back and has had some knee trouble. He wants to go to the Cavs as he and LeBron are now extremely close and LeBron will push the Cavs for a deal. Like you said though, the Cavs have little the Nets value. So, a 3rd team could be involved. I do expect that with J-Kidds sitting last night against the Knicks with a phantom headache that he is nearing the end in Jersey.
  13. I would trade Chill instead of Smoove. Chill is a luxury at this point and the hole at PG is large again. We need help at PG right now.
  14. First, AJ and Lue no longer belong on NBA courts. Just having either of them in the game is a disgrace. Second, Acie is going to be fine in the end but he could use a veteran like Andre Miller to watch for a year or two. We have thrown him into the deep end of the pool and it's a tough transition. Also, Acie is NOT going to be an elite player in the league. That isn't where this story goes. We need a better PG situation NOW. Imagine that? The Hawks PG situation is still lousy. The ideal would be to trade or move AJ to inactive and play Lue as a 3rd PG only in emergencies. Get an Andre Miller for a two year rental and make sure Acie plays plenty of minutes backing up Miller and maybe even playing along side Miller to give JJ a blow. But just starting Acie and playing Lue/AJ at all kills the team. BK is such a lousy GM, just never makes the moves that we need. There is ALWAYS something missing.
  15. I do agree that Carlisle would be better than Woody. I also believe Carlisle's dog Rover would be better than Woody. I don't like Carlisle though. He is a classic control coach, a guy who micromanages every possesion. He really had some good teams early in Indiana and that situation got gradually worse over his tenure. Also, despite a 50-32 record with the Pistons he was fired. Yes, I know Brown took over but the players in Detroit to a man did not like Carlisle. Woody is also one of those [censored] coaches who love control and who builds doghouses. We need a pro coach who the players respect who will give them a little room. Specifically, a coach who gives them the room to truly push the basketball. Carlisle is just not a very personable coach and doesn't click with his players. The guy other than Iavaroni that I loved was Stan Van Gundy...thats the type I'm looking for...professional and yet gives his team some rope.
  16. I think Del Harris is great. Not sure why Northcyde wouldnt want a coach with an actual track record when he defends Woodson. Anyway, Del is getting up there in years. I think I read where he has the option of taking some time off during the season or something crazy like that... He seems to be winding things down. I'd love him though. He'd be like going from a beaten down VW Micro Bus to an Escalade. And he knows how to coach the running game.
  17. Larry Brown would suck whatever life this team has left right out of it. Uh, no thanks.
  18. Quote: Reportedly Alderman was interested.
  19. Woody should have been gone a long time ago. But because the owners are so bloody bad, buckle in for the long haul. Even a stooge understands that Woody is a huge problem. The players are sick to death of this guy and the season will be lost soon. The same stale offense over and over and over. Bruce Levenson and the other stooges just watch and get their kids autographs in the lockeroom. We are just a lousy organization.
  20. We drafted him because Billy Knight promised him we would a month before the draft. And Billy may suck balls as a GM but he never breaks a promise.
  21. Wait, somebody actually pegged Shelly and Chill as possible All Stars? Get me some of that stuff.
  22. I PMed the kid to stop taking shot at Christians, that it was unacceptable and he needed to keep his views private. He responds that he was Jewish, that all Jews have big noses, and that I probably think he has a big nose. If he wasn't a kid then he surely has deep mental issues. Deep, deep mental issues.
  23. I'm not objecting to Gasol...on the contrary, he would provide some valuable low post scoring and rebounding. I'm only objecting to the likely price tag. If we could get him for Marvin/Z/filler then I would love it. Or, even Marvin and Chill with Z... I'm just not thrilled with Smoove being in the deal and certainly not a Horford.
  24. I think Miller can play the SG spot all day, that is true. But, Miller is a huge defensive liability at the 2 and that would kill the Grizz. In fact, Miller would not be able to stop any penetration at all. But offensively, Miller is fine and is really coming on. I think the Grizz would love a guy like Gordon to run with Miller and Gay. Gasol will be moved is my guess because when you watch Iavaroni he really loves to run. And Gasol looks out of place in that system.
  25. I do like Gasol but what bothered me last night was really two things: First, this game was a great basketball game that went back and forth. When PTL needed a bucket they always went to the rack. Either Outlaw, Aldridge, or Roy were looking to get to the dish and they almost always were successful. It was like they were saying "we need a bucket and there's nobody on that squad stopping us inside". When you watch teams with a good post defender, even guys like Diop, it's not so easy to get to the rim. The Blazers didn't not respect the inside presence of the Grizz at all. Second, with the game on the line the Griz were going to Gay and Miller. Only one time in the last 3 minutes did Gasol touch the ball. And when he did get the ball they rarely doubled him. This is what bothered me. If the Blazers didn't double Gasol regularly, with no real center in the game down the stretch, then Gasol doesn't have quite as much allure as I thought. Because if we make a big move for a guy like Gasol then I want a guy who commands an automatic double team on the block because that is what opens the court for JJ, Marvin, Chill, Law, etc. Gasol is a solid rebounder. And he is a solid NBA player all around. My only point is that do we trade a guy like Josh Smith for him? Because that is what would have to happen. And I'm not sold on Gasol for Smith.
