  1. Quote: Absolutely no to Damon Jones. I'm not a huge Lue fan but Damon is way overpaid and can't even bring the ball down the court and protect it without lifting his leg up like a peeing dog! LMAO at the Damon Jones peeing dog. He finally stopped that because his teammates said he was looking stupid and embarrassing them. Damon just sucks. He plays zero defense. None. And the one thing he was signed to do was shoot the 3 and he isn't even that good doing that... Damon really is on his last NBA contract. The dude can't play. T-Lue normally wouldnt see any time at all but...this is Woody we are talking about. Woody is liable to do anything.
  2. I am not saying that the Heat will win. I am pointing out that the Heat just spent 10K to file the protest with the league so they are serious about it. It must also be stated that this is the Hawks SECOND scoring screwup that cost the opponents a better shot at a win. Last year a TJ Ford layup was not scored in the Hawks 97-95 victory... Clearly the league will not be happy with this second offense. Again, I'm not worried but this situation bears watching.
  3. The fact that Shaq fouled out even though he actually had only 5 fouls has lead the Heat to protest our win. The league is reviewing the tape and it appears the Heat are correct. There are three options: 1. Dismiss the protest (unlikely if the Heat are correct) 2. Replay the game from the point of the error. (when Shaq got his 6th foul) 3. Fine the Hawks a substantial amount of money. (What I hope happens) There is no precedent in this as far as I remember. Let's just hope that the league doesnt make us replay from the point that Shaq fouled out. They wouldnt do that if the shoe was on the other foot but with Riley who knows?
  4. Seriously, Shelly can't take ZaZa's minutes? What's up with that? Z is just horrible right now.
  5. Marvin is heading to a place beyond Glen Rice and it won't be that close. Marvin plays defense now but his defense will get better. His overall game continue's to progress nicely. The bottom line is that there is no reason to even defend Marvin. Anybody with a pair of eyes can see what he's doing and what he means to the team. I'm over the CP3 crap because it's stupid to keep re-hashing something that can't be done over. And the simple truth is that Marvin is becoming a helluva NBA player in his own right. If Marvin hadnt been in the draft with the two PGs then EVERYBODY would be thrilled with the kid. There's pretty much one guy left on this site that has any issue with Marvin. And his opinion is no longer relevant on the topic. He has zero credibility to discuss the issue anymore because of some weird agenda. In the meantime, Marvin and the Hawks are pretty solid at the moment. And that is progress that a real Hawks fan can appreciate after 8 years of hell.
  6. Quote: A couple of guys behind me started heckling Chill near the end of the game about his hair. Childress turned around and told one of them to get some Rogaine. How was the crowd Ex? I always wonder how raucus the opposing crowds are because the louder the frenzy, the better it is when you can get the win. Some places are like morgues so it is really not that tough to win. I always have wondered about the DC crowds.
  7. Marvin is really coming on strong. As the founding member of the sackrider club, it gives me great pleasure to see him playing this kind of ball. The kid is still so young and has a great basketball IQ and gives it all on defense. He is a great complement to Smoove as a forward tandem. Marvin draws so many fouls and it is so critical to have a guy that knocks down every open look he gets. The best of Marvin is yet to come. And the same goes for Horford and Smoove. We really need a first rate PG in here and we would rock the East.
  8. I justed posted the same thing in another thread. Shelden gives us 10X more of what we need than Z. Z is a train wreck and plays no defense at all. I get the feeling Z's basketball IQ is about negative.
  9. Quote: We are deep, but I wish we would give ZZs minutes to Shelden & Lo...ZaZa just makes too many dumb mistakes that usually destroy runs. His negatives far outweigh what he brings to the team. Swole, I agree with you about Shelden getting Z's minutes. Z just doesn't move the ball. In his mind it's almost like he saying "Ok, I've watched other guys shoot, now that I have the ball I HAVE TO shoot". He isn't looking for the best play for the team, he is looking to shoot. And it costs us dearly at times. Like when he got stripped with about 5 minutes left. I'm no Shelly fan...But, if he would play defense, rebound, and pick his spots to score, he's just better than Z. Period. But, Woody just can't stand Shelly. It's so obvious. He's basically buried the 5th pick in last years draft. A few games back he had 14 first half points and really hasn't played since. Shelden brings a lot more to the table that the Hawks need than Z. Why does Woodson hold this grudge?
  10. Quote: Quote: Lets put it this way, Do you think that Marvin deserves more than 6 or 7 shots in the 1st half or 12 for the game? He deserves more shots. And he'll get them as soon as he's able to create his own jumper and knock the shot down consistently. But I don't want JJ passing up shots that he normally make either. If Marvin can prove that he can be a main scoring option WITHOUT JJ on the floor wth him, you'll see his shot attempts rise. And when he's able to do that, you'll also see JJ's minutes decrease. Marvin is a very good complimentary player to JJ. Not the other way around. So, are you saying Marvin doesn't knock down the shots consistently? Maybe we are watching a different player. Just FYI, because JJ and Marvin are huge to this team, Marvin will not have many times when he's on the floor WITHOUT JJ. And the fact that Marvin takes the ball to the hole, and now often either finishes, gets fouled, or both, I wouldnt be too upset if he got more touches. He rarely takes more than 10-12 shots in a game and still puts up 17ppg...and he has hit 20+ 5 of 6 games and 4 straight. We all know JJ is the man on this team. But, and a big BUT, if he is off, why not let Smoove, Horf, Marvin, etc. pick up some slack? JJ doesn't need to be on his game now all the time for us to win. It seems that every night we have guys stepping up and that means were less reliant on JJ having a big night. And that is great for this basketball team.
  11. If Lue starts playing significant minutes we will suffer big time. Lue is not the type of PG that gets the ball moving and his defense is so bad that my 64 year old mother could beat him off the dribble. In short, he blows. Lue needs to sit or be traded but should never see the court again for the Hawks. AJ isn't great but it shows what happens when a PG moves the ball. And AJ is just average in this area, not bad but not great either. Imagine if we ever get a PG that truly knows how to distribute?
  12. The Horford-Smith-Marvin front line is a pretty nice combo to go with JJ. We still need a front line PG although AJ is doing some really nice things. We also need a player at the 5 that can rebound and defend. If we could find a PG that is the real deal and a good post defender we could go deep in the playoffs. I'm worried that AJ won't hold up in the long term. I'm also not sold on Z. But, the makings of a very good team are firmly in place. Marvin is developing into a true second scorer and Smoove just does a lot of things so well.
  13. LMAO!!! Parcell's does need a manzere. I'm glad that jackass isnt coming because he won't stay anywhere long anyway. He's got bigger ta ta's than most women. And what's with pulling up his drawers like that? Doesn't anybody pull him aside and straighten that out?
  14. If Zo had not had the kidney problems he would be a first ballot guy. I agree that he is not in the NBA wing but his body of work overall would include him in the general HOF. He brought his lunchpail every game. I'm not really sure why the kidney transplant prevented him from getting back to his previous level. Although, that's probably a lot more traumatic on the body than I can fathom.
  15. Diesel needs to push himself back to the center. Nobody can do it for him. It would be nice if he supported all Hawks players but he does not. But, the better Marvin plays, the worse he looks. And he has looked pretty bad all season.
  16. Did you see that sweet pass that Marvin threw to AJ last night? Just a great improv play where AJ took what the defense gave him and Marvin put it right on the money. I think that Marvin needs a better post game. I love his turn and face on the block but a true post game would add tremendous value to his game. Even a nice fadeaway like what Paul Pierce does would be deadly. Pierce has really worked on that step back fadeaway and its impossible to defend. If Marvin could add that he would really be tough to stop.
  17. Quote: Why is Marvin such a hot button player for so many posters here? He's playing GREAT as of late and is playing exactly how he needs to play if we're going to continue our recent success. Like I said earlier, his skills and potential were NEVER in question. His mentality was cause for concern however, and it's hard to gauge when a player will round into shape if he's not into it mentally. But now, I'm glad to see the same guy I saw come off of the bench at UNC show up in a Hawks uniform. He's playing great and he deserves credit, but does everything posted about this guy have to be so vindictive? Why can't we just enjoy the team's success? It's not often that we could say the words Atlanta Hawks and success in the same sentence you know. Honestly, Marvin's detractors are down to about one. The problem is that the "one" has 23,000 posts on the site and about 5,000 of them are a shot at Marvin. So, because the guy has so many posts it makes it look like there are more people against Marvin than there are... I think the Marvin issue has basically been put to rest. His play is the type that people have always wanted to see. Most people also agree that Marvin still has room for more. It's good all around. But the dude with 23,000 posts won't ever give it up and we all need to understand that and take it with a grain of salt.
  18. Zo is a warrior, and brings the type of toughness that good teams need. He is a pretty classy guy off the court as well. Hall of Fame though? No, not a chance. If he didnt have the kidney trouble he would have been a likely choice. But he had his prime cut down and then became a role player the last few years. He has no shot at Springfield although that doesnt take away that he was once a very good NBA player.
  19. The Celts would laugh their asses off at this trade. First, Big Baby is one of THE top rookies in the class. He is playing big minutes and looks like he has a great future. Second, they do have a promising young PG named Gabe Pruitt that will start seeing minutes. The fact that Lue is KG's friend has nothing to do with anything. Solomon has zero NBA value at the moment. Lue is washed up or at least on the doorstep of washed up. And they would also throw in a 1st? They would laugh without the first.
  20. Yeah, if Marvin wasn't wasting his time on his degree, can you imagine how much better he would be now? We got to get the kid to quit school.
  21. Marvin's last 5 games he is averaging 20.5 ppg, with 7 rpg. By any measure that is very good basketball. Marvin has missed scoring on double figures only ONE TIME all year!!! He has been extremely consistent in a year thats been up and down with Smoove and JJ. The Hawks are 6-1 without Childress and I will tell you that if Marvin was out they would not be that good. Marvin is a CRITICAL piece to the puzzle now. Thats why Woodhead leaves him in almost all game...because the team is much better when he is in there. Marvin WILL be an ALL STAR! Mark it down...the kid is developing a nice all around game...he attacks the rim and has a great jumper. I want to see a little more post game but...he has developed a nice turn and face game. Only a fool doesn't like his game. Forget Paul. We can't get him and Marvin will be a great player in his own right. Am I a Marvin Nuthugger? Damn right and proud to be one. The kid can play and he's got class as a person.
  22. Another post by a sackrider. Anybody could score 26 points in 50 minutes! And D-Wade torched him and Wade has lost a step. Tay Prince would have shut Wade down. Look, I'm not saying Marvin's bad but he's common. He is what he is...and he is a big mistake. Chris Paul, who even I knew would be a great player eats Marvins lunch. Every time I see CP3 tearing up the league I think of common Marvin...and it makes me sick. What do you say about that Sheebag?
  23. What? Is this the Marvin sackrider thread? Or, is it the Marvin nuthugger thread? You guys are a bunch of Marvin grundlescratchers even though I have no idea what that means.
  24. He really is a sad character. His existence has come down to a daily vilification of a Hawks basketball player. Even if Marvin was a total stiff I really don't think it would merit this much daily vitriol. The dude has a serious screw loose.
  25. Quote: Yeah, seriously Diesel, show us the quotes where people were wanting to throw a party for Marvin. I agree with thesheedera, Diesel exaggerates everything he reads about Marvin to the extreme, way beyond what people actually mean. If Diesel can show those quotes, that would go a long way to showing what Diesel thinks is such high praise of Marvin. There is nobody that unrealistic about Marvin on this site. I will say that most people agree that he has certainly stepped up his game and look much better this year. That gives me, and others I assume, hope for the future. As long as he keeps getting better we don't know his ceiling. But, at his age, he's doing well. I run to defend Marvin because I get sick of the constant foolish attacks by Diesel. But I have never said that I think Marvin is a star. I just think at age 21 he doing pretty good and I think most people agree with that assesment. But, because I defend Marvin, I'm called nuthugger, sackrider, etc. On Diesel's watch you cannot defend Marvin or praise Marvin...or said he played well. You can praise JJ, Smoove, Horf, AJ, Chill...but don't dare praise Marvin. And I've NEVER seen anybody elses stats get prorated for crying out loud. Only Marvins. Here's what I know with 100% certainty: Diesel has a very strange hang-up about Marvin Williams. Why? Only he knows. But, he goes to such lengths to discredit him that I know it will never end. And because he has this strange agenda you really have a hard time taking him serious. The HS board gets Marvin pretty well. We know his upside and we know where he needs improvement. It's just Diesel that has this weird Marvin issue. But we can all buckle up for the long haul because neither Diesel or Marvin are leaving anytime soon. But this strange Marvin deal makes me almost wish Marvin would be traded just to shut Diesel up. Because his non-stop garbage is well beyond old.
