Marvin is already better than Prince and is 7 years younger. I just don't think its that debatable. Buzzard, Diesel is going to have to learn to live with a much better Marvin. And the great news for the rest of us is that Marvin has a ways to go before we see his potential. If I needed to win games right now, I might pick Prince over Marvin because of his range and because I've seen him committed to defense consistently for so such a long time. Marvin's improved his defensive dedication and especially his technique, but Prince is currently a shut down defender and has better help D instincts. Long term, no question I'd rather have Marvin and I think he'll eclipse Prince as a plyer soon. But if I need a W tonight, I'd take Prince. Remember, Prince has a more experienced supporting cast and that helps him a ton. Put Marvin in that mix and he becomes a better player...by hanging in that atmosphere he becomes better immediately. Marvin just has a lot more skills and he has a better body (although Prince's length is a huge asset). Marvin will use that athletic big body to go to the rack and draw contact (and finish) over the next year or two. That body will be a tremendous asset to Marvin and his shot is just better than TP's. I love Prince because he is the consumate team guy...much like Marvin. So, I see similarities in the two. But, I think most knowledgeable basketball fans can easily appreciate the talents of both.

  3. Quote: Poor poor teabag. IS that all you can do?? Constant name calling?? Let me guess, you rode the short bus to school... Right?? While there, you worked the AV equipment all day... Right?? You were socially promoted...Right? In fact, I bet your children aren't too bright either...Right? In a sad way, Marvin is all you got. I've told you yesterday... YOu can decide if you would like to talk basketball or continue the name calling BS. You're stuck on this name calling BS. From here on out, you will get no more of my attention... I mean, you obvious bring nothing to the board worthy of discussion... Teabag. Nuthugger. Sackrider. Yeah, your not the type to throw out names and insults? You only discuss basketball? OK. You really want to discuss basketball? How about taking a long break from all things Marvin Williams? Because you don't talk basketball, you talk Marvin Williams. NewsFlash: We all know how you feel about Marvin Williams, nothing new there...move along. Bring something new. And if you don't want names thrown at you, then put away your wide array of 4th grade names.
  4. Quote: I like Horford and it was nice to see him scoring last game but i still think he is better off splitting time fairly evenly between the 4 and 5 instead of spending all his time at the 5. I agree 100%. I think Al was the right choice and he is smart enough to get by at the 5...some. Ideally, we get a solid defensive 5 that plays 22-25 minutes a night.
  5. Quote: Is that what passes for you for a destruction of an argument?? It sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. Especially the age does matter... Most of the guys who came directly from HS when given Marvin's minutes... became superstars. And they were as young if not younger. They were definitely not 26-32?? Has Bron even made it to 26?? Teabag it just goes to show how far out of reality you really are. Ask any nonhomer who they would rather have on their team Tayshun or Marvin... and I'm sure that most of the non-homers would say Tayshun. IF not all of them. You see there are 2 sides to a basketball court. And Hustle does count. Dear Diesbag, So, is this ask any non-homer game the same as ask people who is better, Chill or Marvin? You want to play that game again, in public? The one where it was like 50-2 against you...you on two different PC's? LMAO. Again, your like the little midget who thinks he's tough, takes on the bigger man, gets his ass kicked, then comes back for more. Seriously, you been dismissed as a fool so many times you can't have any pride left. When do you reach bottom on this? Is there any chance that you may grow up at some point? Sorry, I like Marvin cause he's on my team. I even like Shelly, the man who you said was the next Mailman. I hated the pick but now that he's a Hawk I'm behind him and I hope he gets better. I guess your the only fool that believes in hating and pissing on players on their own team.
  6. Quote: I'll stop b@tching about Marvin when Teabag Pete gets off his sack! So, the rocket scientist with 22,000 posts, half of which are about Marvin Williams, doesn't like it when people bring reason to the table? Nope, you can't like a player who has gotten better every year and is averaging 16.1/5.7 at age 21. If you defend that player against stupid attacks every day you are a sackrider, nuthugger, apologist, and think the kids better than Jordan. Makes sense. Diesel's #1 problem is that he wanted Chris Paul and he would have finally gotten one right. So, because he finally guessed right on a draft pick that we didn't take, we all have to spend the next 15 years hearing about how he wanted Paul and how he just knew Marvin wasn't that good, and how he was right! OK, your right! So, does everybody have to keep hearing about it? What he doesn't understand is that he is in a huge minority on the topic, people don't care about Paul anymore, and most hawks fans are happy and excited at how Marvin's game is growing. All I know is that I would not want to be in a position where I was supposedly a fan of a team where I just ragged all day (literally) about how poor or common one of their players is... Essentially, your a one topic wonder, a one trick pony. Got anything else? Anything else at all?
  7. Quote: Quote: It's totally irrelevant. Marvin has been in this league for 3 years.. That's more important than if he had stayed at UNC for 5... You guys who use Age as an excuse is so very misled... Anybody in the NBA will tell you that playing in the NBA speeds up a players development faster than anything else... So why are we still talking about Age. Marvin is a freakin veteran and you want to hold on to his birth certificate. IS that all you got? First of all, Prince has been in the league more years than Marvin and Marvin is averaging more points and rebounds RIGHT NOW than Prince ever has in his entire career. Second, age IS an issue. Playing in the NBA speeds up development, but that doesn't mean age isn't an issue. Players hit their peak between the ages of 26-32, not at the age of 21. Is that all you got? LOL...you just totally destroyed his argument that Prince is better. But, is that all you got? I guess bringing all of your facts is in direct conflict with his emotional Marvin hate. Dumars would trade Prince for Marvin so fast it would make your head spin. Even if Marvin didn't improve at all from here he is still better than Prince now and 7 years younger. For most that is a no brainer.
  8. Quote: Marvin hands down. You have no idea how angry I get when Woody benches Marvin when he's hitting shots. He is by far the better player with the better upside. Marvin has star potential Careful, you may send some people into a seizure with that kind of public support for Marvin. Remember he's not a star, and he's very common...and he didn't carry us for 3 quarters on offense last night.
  9. Quote: I can accept being criticized... and having what I hope for Dialoge to break down into personal attacks for the likes of Exodus and Texas Pete... However, what I won't stand for is to be misrepresented and outright lied on by the likes of thesheedera... Earlier Sheedera said Quote: The only reason why there's so much talk about Marvin is because Diesel makes so many outlandish claims about how bad he is. Sheedera since you're all about reputations, it's time to save yours... Find one place this season where I have said that Marvin was BAD... I have said that he's not better than Chillz. I have said that he's not a superstar.. and even not a star. But now it's time to man up Sheed.. Either find it or apologize!! You are the very last person on this site that should demand anything. If you didn't say the exact words you have implied on only 1,000 occasions that Marvin wasn't worth a piece of toilet paper. You traded him for nothing so many times my head hurts thinking about it. One stupid trade after another. And now your implying that you didn't ever say Marvin was bad? Excuse everybody while they go out and puke over your righteous indignation. You have trivialized EVERY aspect of Marvins game for 3 years. Now you come out acting like you have been the victim? There is not one person on this board that misunderstands your implications. And you have been acting like a lunactic all day. Go home and get some sleep.
  10. Quote: TP, I would think you would get tired of trying to talk for me? First you're Marvin's grundlescratcher... Now you want to speak for me... Why not try this... Try speaking for TP... and sticking to things that TP knows...Maybe then you're conversation would be halfway enlightening? Maybe then you would have something to talk about other than other people?? If you have a question about me.. .Be a man and ask me... stop being a jocksniffing nuthugger.. You're like a jealous girlfriend... I've never seen a dude act so gay about another man. Your manlove for Marvin is re freakin diculous. Do you feel threatened because I say Marvin is potentially the greatest player in Hawks history?? Must have because your reaction is more spazed out than anything else that has been said. And on and on and on with your freakin personal attacks? Why TP?? Why do you insist on the personal attacks?? You need to get a freakin grab and take your head out of Marvin's lap! You have just totally lost your mind but I find it extremely entertaining.
  11. Quote: Meltdown alert. Any shrink in Squawkland? He needs drugs...like ritalin. And when Marvin's name is mentioned in a positive context I can picture him getting tied up in a straightjacket...yelling, FOR THE LAST TIME, WE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CHRIS PAUL!!! DAMN ALL OF YOU! MOM, F^CK, GET ME SOME MORE MEATLOAF!
  12. Quote: Diesel kept quiet about Marvin for awhile and now all that frustration is just boiling over. Diesels future..... You know Diesel was dying when Marvin started off hot. He's been waiting patiently for Marvin to fall but it hasn't developed like he'd hoped. He finally boils over this week and can't take it anymore even though Marvin is having his best stretch yet. He has hit 20 three times in four games and has been solid as a rock...at the same time Diesel is abusing him for not being Chris Paul. Diesel, if you just hold on awhile I'm sure Marvin will play a couple of bad games. Just be patient. Right now it makes you look real bad bitching about the guy when he's playing great basketball.
  13. Quote: Your problem with you TP is that you lack commitment... Either you believe he's great or you don't. There is no middle ground. Middle ground is for those Flip floppers who want to hedge their bets. Put both feet on the bandwagon TP!! If there is no middle ground at all then I say no Hawk players measure up because I can't apply the great tag to any of them. Do you think at all before you post?
  14. Quote: Quote: There's no middle ground with this guy. I think he's lost it for good. I think you have to have it before you can lose it. I don't think he ever had it. In the same way Marvin never had it? Is Diesel the Marvin of Hawksquawk?
  15. Quote: This is how it seems to work now: You write: "Marvin's good" Diesel reads: "Marvin's the greatest ever" You write: "Marvin's better than Josh Childress and Al Harrington" Diesel reads: "Marvin's an all time great" There's no middle ground with this guy. I think he's lost it for good. The guy acts like a total looney tune whenever Marvin's name gets mentioned in a half way positive light. That whole thing is beyond strange.
  16. Quote: Yeah.. It's liberating TP... I see how you can get spoiled being in love with mediocrity!!! I mean, the best part about it is that I can talk about HOPE and POTENTIAL as if those things were real! See, check this out... Marvin has the potential to score 60 points against the Heat... He's such a great player!!! Wow... that's so liberating. and if it doesn't happen, I can say Hey... He's only 21... He's doing well for a young fella... Those other folks just don't see it. Marvin is potentially the best player in the NBA... Bar NONE!!! See, your problem is there is no in between with you. It's all or nothing. It's Jordan or Nique...or bust. If he scores 18 on the Heat, moves the ball, gets 8 free throws, and plays good defense...thats good basketball. Thats about what Marvin does every night, you can just about set your watch by his consistency. And he is only 21! Sorry that bothers you. Look, the entire site is aware of your Marvin "situation". Frankly, I find it extremely bizarre. But whatever floats your boat. There are very few people here who believe Marvin is a star. Can he be one someday? Who knows? But, in the interim, most Hawks fans are going to enjoy his growth. He is a better player this year and will likely be better next year. Enjoy the ride, it's not that big a deal. Is there any chance you might move on with the Marvin thing?
  17. That's what I'm talking about! Bring it baby! Preach the love for Marvin! You know you want to...doesn't it feel good to get that off your chest?
  18. Quote: Yeah... Teabag. Whatever you say! Marvin is the greatest player since Bill Russell. Shoot, Marvin could probably dominate Russell, Shaq, and Jordan in their primes... Actually, he's just better than Childress. Right?

    Great Win!!

Quote: Quote: Quote: I think we purged ourselves of contracts knowing we would most likely lose a lot of games with all the talent we discarded. BS Alarm just went off. Walker was traded in the last season of his contract. First words out of BK's mouth after trading Walker... Quote: "This trade will give us the opportunity to continue to develop our nucleus of young players for the remainder of the year," said Hawks Executive Vice President/General Manager Billy Knight So after all I went through you only point to trading Antoine Walker? Is this all about Antoine Walker vs. Marvin for you? Would you rather have Antoine Walker than Marvin Williams going forward? AW also happens to be one of the most polarizing players in recent NBA history. I liked him personally, but I wasn't sorry to see him go. I didn't think we could build a franchise with him as the cornerstone, did you? Actually, I do believe that he would prefer AW to Marvin then and now. I think he would prefer anyone to Marvin, alive or dead it makes no difference. I have followed the Hawks for 3 decades and have never run across any supposed "fan" who rides, derides, and trashes the way he does Marvin. It's a little deranged and if I didn't know better I would say that it was personal. It's almost like his personal credibility on this basketball site is at stake. Or, at least he thinks it is.
  20. Yeah, I have 47 user names and thats why the poll is so one sided against you. How'd you know? It's 47 to 2...thats about 96% that believe that Marvin is the better player. I'll even say that if someone truly believes that Chill is the better player then your wasting time watching basketball cause you don't understand it. There are much better ways you could be spending your time. When your one of just two people out of 49 that cling to the same idea...your not seeing things too good. That about describes you and your Marvin hangup, right D?
  21. Quote: ZaZa was actually fouled before the ball was passed in, so we should've gotten FT's and the ball I think? I was scared to death when ZaZa had it right under the basket and passed it to Horford. Why Utah didn't foul him, I will never know. I would've put Shelden in for Horford. Why we didn't pass in to Marvin on every possession, I will never know either. I believe that stuff falls into the category called "coaching".
  22. The poll says 45 like Marvin over Chills. The poll says that 2 like Chills over Marvin. You got one buddy out there, huh? Do you ever get tired of being on the wrong side of logic? Just curious.
  23. You need to vote pretty soon cause the tide is turning. I'm shocked that you have 3 votes...you got 3 different PC's?
  24. Well, 30% have said Diesel is generally right. That's not too bad.
