  1. I think that was a general “get me some help, generally speaking” moment. I think DJM was specifically picked.
  2. Thank you. Nuance. That’s all I ask for.
  3. Some people are unwilling to accept good things when they happen.
  4. Oh, so now I’m just “someone” to you?! I bring the beef! Understand?!
  5. I agree with you about the FO screwing the pooch on multiple occasions. The CC trade was something I recall Supes or some other insider mentioning maybe a couple years ago. Hawks had a deal in place to trade him (to Houston maybe?) but Trae said no I don’t want him traded so they killed the deal. The ultimatum (however firm or soft it may have been) was something mentioned by Soth I believe. I feel confident in my recollection of those being mentioned, but I’m not motivated to dig them up. I do think care that much about it. I know you want hard proof on everything (lawyers, go figure), but most of my conjecture is based on insider reports that haven’t or won’t ever be verified. May be true, may not be. But I guess if I put weight into anything they say, then I’ll put weight into most everything they say knowing there’s room for error.
  6. The series of events show an increasing level of input being applied by Trae, each one raising the impact of his involvement leading up to the current rumor of his request to trade the pick for a star or to trade him instead (the first time he has potentially threatened a trade request). The series of events lays out a history of him directly going to the FO to sway them in one direction or another with the roster. The increasing impact/pressure going from wanting to resign a player, to blocking trading away a player, to advocating for trading for a new player, to a potentially laying out an ultimatum with the threat of requesting a trade shows the nuance of the events. That last example is what was being referenced wrt mortgaging the future to appease the star.
  7. I wonder how much Valanciunas would cost to sign. IIUC he won’t be returning to the Pels. A big rotation of him & OO with a sprinkling of Sarr at 5 would be great. Could the JC TPE be used for him in some way?
  8. Hawks have hit a hard reset button multiple times and haven’t earned a chip yet. I'm with you on a waning interest going all in on picks on picks. I like watching real victories over moral victories.
  9. ^This. I never meant to insinuate that Trae threatened to request a trade if they didn’t pay JC above market rate. But he and JC were tight at the time and from what I recall he strongly expressed how much he wanted them to bring him back. I’m sure that was in the back of their mind while negotiating, feeling a bit of pressure to make sure he returned. And credit due to JC’s agent. Travis misplayed that hand.
  10. This is where I’m settling in at. I think the DJM + Trae backcourt was a total fail, and just breaking that up will have a big positive impact. I honestly don’t think either of those guys are particularly mature, and neither should be leading a team. But Trae is a generational talent though and I’d rather have him. Just need to add some strong vet presence to our bench/locker room. If Miami can keep bringing back Haslem, maybe we should bring back Solo Regarding BI: I get the concerns, and they’re valid. But I think there’s more of a chance he becomes a bigger positive impact than many expected. He was a very underrated player just a couple years ago, and I think Quin and Trae will unlock more of his talents that have been lacking of late. He’s a good buy low candidate. And if they resign him, I hope Landry works out a better than expected deal like he did with OO and DJM. I kind of like the option here and think it could surprise folks. Hopefully Trae included and gets everyone hyped about this team again.
  11. I recall him advocating for JC to get his bag, him stepping in and stopping them from trading CC, and pushing them to trade for Murray. The request to trade the pick for a player or trade him tracks. Top players pressure their teams into moves all the time, and I doubt Trae is any different.
  12. Thanks @Sothron! Man, that’s tough. IDK. I could potentially get behind any of these scenarios, but I could also see all of them blowing up in our faces. My first choice would be any scenario that would allow us to keep Trae, JJ and draft Sarr. I don’t think #1 as listed is enough to win a championship. Maybe room to work around the edges to raise the overall roster to get there, but that’s putting a lot of faith in both the FO to get it done AND in Ressler to spend big on the roster to bring in the necessary players. I don’t have a lot of faith in Ressler allowing the FO to do what needs to be done. Complete reset is a 50/50 crap shoot that we won’t know if it works out for a few years. And it’s putting A LOT of faith in the FO scouting department. Dear Landry & Korver:
  13. Trae had a hand in : JC’s contract CC not getting traded Trading for DJM What else? Am I missing anything? How have those requests paid off? And now they’re going to entertain another trade request? His hands aren’t clean. And I agree with you the cheap ass owners are only making everything worse. I don’t expect that to change unfortunately If they trade for Giannis, they will still be filling the rest of the roster with Mat(t)ews and Trent Forrests. Maybe resigning Bey to hang with Giannis’s brother on the bench who they recover all season.
  14. How is @NBASupes going to make this poll, and then not even vote?
  15. If Giannis is disappointed with Milwaukee brain trust putting together a winning team, then he is going to LOOOVE Atlanta.
  16. That’s what I’m thinking. We could put a decent package together with Sarr, JJ, plus whatever else we could throw in, but there will be other teams that could offer more.
  17. That’s in an ideal world. I’m going by what South or whoever mentioned Trae wants us to trade the number one pick and parts for a specific star to pair with him and if they don’t want to do that then he wants them to trade him. *If* that is essentially the case, how do you foresee it playing out if they don’t trade for the star player and they don’t trade Trae? Do you think that will work out well? Will Trae just come around and say, “you know what, I know I’ve made multiple requests with the FO and you’ve always delivered, but now that you’re not going to, I think you’re right. I’m going to be a good trooper and play along with your plan.” I don’t think so. In an ideal world, players play and GMs manage. But in today’s world, players with pull push the buttons.
  18. Different scenarios though. Nique was traded without his knowledge vs. Trae requesting a trade. Or are you in favor of mortgaging the future for appeasing the star to keep him around a little longer?
  19. Hey, I didn’t say I wanted that. If fact I wouldn’t want 35yo KD at $48mil/yr. I was just proposing it as a real possibility we may come up against. KD or Giannis, whatever. But I think KD will be on his way out sooner rather than later to his, what, 5th team? Suns way underachieved. In cap hell. No draft picks til 2030. Can’t trade face of team in Booker. Can’t trade Beal at his contract and no trade clause. KD is a fickle one who asks out when the going gets tough, so I could see them working out an exit. I wouldn’t be surprised is KD is moved before Giannis. And he will be easier to get than Giannis. I suspect other teams could beat any package the Hawks could offer for Giannis.
  20. I TOLD YOU!! I TOLD YOU!! What I say? Didn’t I say it Trae could ask the FO to trade the pick to get a star or to trade him if they don’t?! Didn’t I saw that?! Yeah I said that. I’ll take the doubters apologies off the air thank you very much. I speculated KD, but we’ll see. So, I’ll ask this again: would you rather have Trae + KD or Murray + Sarr ?
  21. He likely left someofthat Hawks DNA on the floor while scrapping for loose balls.
  22. I agree. But it’s a win now move, and what happens if Trae pushes the FO again for this win now move? He’s pushed them to trade for players before. What if Trae told the FA “Get me KD, or trade me”? Who here would rather have: Trae + KD or Sarr + DJM?
