ABSOLUTELY NOT.In this scenario, we are able to sell high on Josh (which would be miraculous considering what we all saw during the trading deadline). The odds of Josh peaking in that moment are much higher than that of him suddenly becoming a mature and consistent player throughout an 82 game season.Somebody would do a massive S&T deal, and Danny Ferry would clean their clocks. -
He's tall, white, and bald. The similarities end there.

Agreed, Zaza is not a filler. Morrow is a filler. If they send a 1st round pick our way as well, that's a good bit of talent coming in to compensate for Amare's contract. Hard to imagine we'd do better via FA.

I actually agree with ATLHawks on this one... Okafor is a solid C who can push Al to the 4. Injury prone, but we aren't signing him to a five year deal. He'd be a big expiring next year, and we'd have a top pick in the draft. What am I missing?

I'd do Leonard/Jackson for Smoove. Getting Leonard alone would be absurd, but I doubt they would add Splitter as well in the middle of a title run.

Add the Brooklyn 1st round pick going to SAC... It won't happen but that makes it more fair.

If this goes down, I want some serious props. Suggested this trade in Trade Ideas last night before the rumor came back. Still there and only has one reply with MrMeltdown adding a horrible (IMO) alternative.

If we get Pierce and Garnett for an expiring, we're gonna have to take on one bad contract. He'd fill in Williams' role but it isn't as needed as before with Pierce. ESPN proposes trades ad nauseum but none of them come true. As exciting as this might be for some, I don't see them doing it.

Call me crazy, but if we trade Josh for seemingly random pieces, I think it'll have the Joe effect. People expect us to suck and we're just as good. And Ferry thoughtfully fills the holes with cheap guys who know their roles and who buy in.

What am I missing here? This trade is a reaction to us NOT being able to get Dwight. I still think BKN has a great shot at him, and this trade would help them by clearing Wallace's and Lopez's salary plus adding his buddy Josh.
